I have been seeing Dr. Gonzalez for about 5yrs now and I have never been more happy with a physician. Not only is she a great doctor but also has the personality to go along with it, she is the complete package! She is very thorough and truly cares about her patients. I just started coming to Dr. Irma recently, when my baby was born at the end of January. I really like that her office has a sick and a healthy children's waiting room. Having a newborn I am constantly worried about her catching something, so it is nice to have the separation. The office is clean, the staff are friendly, and the doctor is very knowledgable. My only complaint is that is sucks to have to pay for parking :( But it's not that expensive at least. I have never had trouble getting an appointment and when we have gone in the wait has been very short. We are always seen within 15 minutes of arriving. read more

Dr Irma Y Gonzalez is an exceptional pediatrician. Over the last few years I've been taking my daughter and now my six month old son to be treated by Dr Gonzalez. In 2012 I gave birth to a beautiful girl via C-Section and in 2014 a handsome little boy. She has always gone the extra mile for my kids and I couldn't ask for more. Her office staff is very polite and will help in any way they can. You can reach Dr. Gonzalez after office hours if there is an emergency with your little one. Dr. Gonzalez is an experienced, thorough and passionate pediatrician. My husband and I interviewed other pediatricians while we were expecting our first, and we immediately connected with Dr. G. Both of my sons have been with Dr. G from birth and we don't see going us going to any other pediatrician. We have been going to Dr. Gonzalez since our daughter was born in 2016 and have since had a second child. They both see Dr. G now. She came as a recommendation and after first meeting her at the hospital and watching the level of care she provided our child, we knew she was the right doctor for our family. Dr Gonzalez is a wonderful pediatrician. She goes through everything very thoroughly and answers all our questions and addresses our concerns. She truly does care for our little girls. Dr. Gonzalez and her staff are simply wonderful. As first-time parents with no family in the immediate area, we rely on her advice constantly to make informed decisions about anything, from diet to behavior. She is always clear, reassuring and no-nonsense, which I really like. Dr. Gonzalez is AhhhhhMAZING! My son had a slow start gaining weight, failing to reach his birth weight by the two week mark. Most pediatricians in this situation would suggest formula supplementation or giving up breastfeeding up all together. But not this lovely woman! She saw us every couple days until my baby boy finally reached his birth weight at 3 1/2 weeks. I am still breastfeeding at 3 months and my baby is getting more and more chubs by the day. And on top of being a proponent for breastfeeding, she spaces out vaccines (making them much safer) and is just about the sweetest women ever. So happy she's our doc! read more

Doctor González is really nice! She is clear and precise with diagnosis and explaining it to a first mom and is really good with my baby. Shes always available for questions and unexpected visits and if not, she has a great back up in Doctor Jackson. Her receptionist is the best! She is always nice answering the questions that can be really annoying coming from a first mom... she always answer with the best disposition and always has a good solution for any problem! Dr. Gonzalez is a champion among pediatricians. She was an ER doctor before opening her own practice. She speaks Spanish fluently and often teaches my children a word or two during their visits. Recently my child contracted salmonella from an unknown source. Dr. Gonzalez treated the symptoms appropriately, was reassuring in a way only a very experienced doctor can be, and went to bat for my child with the health department. I rely on her to keep the two most important people in my life healthy and in good shape . I would recommend her to anyone in the Pasadena area. I don't normally do this but I was extremely disappointed with Dr Gonzalez. I had originally brought my daughter here on a recommendation and the fact that she accepts delayed vaccination children. She and her staff seemed nice and courteous enough from the first appointment. That was a year ago, my daughter has been in twice since then and my son was born in Feb, which Dr Gonzalez saw in the hospital. I spoke with her and her staff when I took him in at 3 days old and two weeks old--they were aware both of my children were on delayed vaccination schedules. I also spoke with her staff on three separate occasions in the weeks after our last visit discussing faxing over the vaccine schedule....only to FINALLY get a call back to let me know Dr Gonzalez no longer accepts children on delayed vaccine schedules. Really? You couldn't mention it the last six times in Feb that I spoke with you? Completely unprofessional. Why waste my time? I respected you as their Pedetrician, please respect me as their parent. read more

I am actually surprised by these 5 star reviews. I found this office on Yelp and decided to bring my son here. I am a first time parent, so I naturally have a lot of questions and concerns. For some doctors, each child is just another patient and this is how I felt here. I have had doctors in the past and found a new pediatrician's office that actually makes you feel like they care about you as a patient. For example, I have a personal doctor who will pick up the phone and answer my questions (or call me back in the alternative when he is not busy). Sometimes it is just a 30 second conversation. All our visits with Dr. Gonzalez were short. Besides our in person meetings, all my conversations with this office have been with a nurse. However, this is not what made me write this review. I once called the office and asked the receptionist a question about feeding. The nurse said she would ask the doctor and call me back. She did not. This still did not prompt me to write a review or try to change doctors. I understand people get overlooked when busy and this does not warrant changing doctors. I found my answers by reading the internet and asking friends. My son recently got bit by something on a Saturday and his toe was extremely swollen. I took my son to urgent care and the urgent care doctor told me it was an infected spider bite, prescribed antibiotics and told me to follow up with the pediatrician on Monday. Monday morning, my son's toe was not better even after the antibiotic, so I called this office, explained that my 11 mo old son had an emergency and asked if I could come in to see the doctor. "Sorry the doctor is booked today." I asked can you please see if the doctor can make an exception and squeeze him in because his toe is not looking good. She asked me to hold and came back and said "sorry, you can come in tomorrow morning, but in the meantime give him Benadryl." Um...he is already on Tylenol for a fever and antibiotics, so why would I give him more meds without his doctor looking at him? I was truly mortified by this nonchalant instruction from the front desk girl. Btw she mentioned "her appts are filling up quick, so let me know if you want the appt." No thank you. I got him into a different ped's office the same day. Turned out the toe was not getting better because the antibiotic prescribed by urgent care was not the right one for my son's infection. They put him on a new antibiotic and the toe started healing instantly. I had no intention of writing this office a bad review until their actions directly affected the health of my child. And yes, the doctors at this new office are extremely thorough and there were follow ups every other day. I do not have to jump bridges to see or talk to a pediatrician here. I was not going to write this review, but the point of Yelp is to notify other concerned parents what to look out for, as we all have our child's best interest. read more

This review is not necessarily regarding Dr. Gonzalez herself since I decided to go find another pediatrician. I had called for an appointment a few weeks ago and confirmed a date and time twice during the phone call. The individual on the phone informed me that she would be moving on March first and provided the new address. Went to the address for the scheduled appointment only to have to call the old number to find out that she was still at the old office. When I arrived, I was informed that my child's appointment was set for the next day and that they could not squeeze him in. She then asked if I still wanted to go to the appointment the next day. I told her, "Yes." She then informed me that she'd need to find out if the time is available. Why would you need to confirm it if he's already scheduled? Very frustrating read more

I love Dr. Gonzalez and the staff is amazing! We are never in the office for more than 40 min! Dr. Gonzalez is great with my kids, 2.5 yrs and 6 months. She takes the time with them and always answers all our questions. I love that she lets me hold our daughter during the examination so she feels more comfortable. I wanted to write this review because I have seen some comments about Dr. G's resistance to accept patients who may want a different vaccine schedule for their children. I think it's the doctor's prerogative to decide if she will accept such patients. I am a believer in vaccines and getting them when my doctor recommends so. I trust in Dr. G and feel that she will always give me the best advice for my son. When my son was the hospital at only 4 days old, Dr Gonzalez came to see him in person and to give me a hug. It's very rare for doctors to do that. Dr. G has always ensured me that I was not a bad mom if I can not produce milk to breastfeed my son. I am happy to report that my son was never sick, for 15 months, not even a cold or an ear infection. He's growing fast, and is happy and healthy. I credit part of that to Dr Gonzalez and her medical philosophy. In addition, vaccines have saved people from deceases, I would expect that my son's classmates have the same protection as he does. read more

As per the Doctor's response, I need to correct a few items. I actually did NOT miss my appointment. I made an attempt to schedule my newborns followup, and since I could not get in until the end of the month, I cancelled that appointment and found a new pediatrician. I was kept waiting for not just my newborn's first appointment, but for every appointment I have had there with both children. My neighbor is also a patient, and she has the same issue. read more

I cannot say enough praise about Dr Gonzalez and her staff. We had a very difficult time initially finding a pediatrician, and are so glad that Barbara at Huntington Memorial Hospital recommended her. The first pediatrician we were referred to was out the door before we had finished our questions. As first time parents we had quite a few questions, and the physician told us he could not spend more than fifteen minutes with his patients, and if he did, he would not be able to see all of his patients. Dr G spends more that that with us, and makes us not feel rushed. She is kind, patient, and very knowledgeable. We were so surprised to have her call us right back on a weekend when my son had a 103 degree temperature, after we had left a message on her voicemail. We recently gave birth to our second child, and Dr G greeted our daughter with open arms after we gave birth to her at Huntington Memorial. At this point she doesn't feel like a doctor to us, she feels more like a member of the family. We highly recommend her and look forward to seeing her for many years to come. read more

Its difficult to look for a pediatrician that you can trust and feel comfortable to take care of your child. Our first visit with Dr Gonzalez was very nice. She spoke to my son, which my son liked. Dr.Gonzalez as been our pediatrician since I was pregnant with my first child in 2010 and we are about to have our third this July. She is awesome as is her staff. She is attentive, caring, never rushes us, always answers my questions, and makes my girls feel comfortable. The visits are stress free and we never have to wait very long. On the couple of occasions when we've needed an urgent visit, they've been able to get us in the schedule. A recent example of how wonderful she and her team are - my 18 month old broke out in a rash and the day care she attends suspected it could be something contagious like chicken pox. I called into the office, described the rash and they said although they couldn't get her in to see the doctor right away due to the exposure risk, I could send pictures that the doctor would review. Within an hour or so i received a call back letting me know the doctor did not think it was chicken pox and that they'd cleared some late afternoon time for me to bring my daughter in to be seen by the doctor. Being 7 months pregnant and nervous about being exposed to something like chicken pox, was so grateful that Dr. Gonzalez and her staff went out of their way to be in touch with me that day and bring us in for an emergency visit. It's interesting to read the previous review posted regarding Dr. Gonzalez being accommodating with vaccine schedule? I had to find a new pediatrician because she refused to support my decision to postpone vaccinating my 12 month old with the MMR shot. My husband and I felt more comfortable waiting until our daughter turned at least two years old to vaccinate with MMR shot to provide her immune system time to mature some more before overwhelming it with live viruses. Anyway, when I informed Dr. Gonzalez of our decision regarding the MMR vaccine, she basically told me that she could no longer be our doctor and made comments making it sound like I was being a neglectful parent for making such decision. It's unfortunate that for most doctors patient care seems to be often and/or mostly motivated and driven by financial incentives they may get from pharmaceutical companies. To be fair...we had a good start, but this was a deal breaker for me. read more

I called to ask a tylenol dosing questions gave them the age and weight of my baby and the girl said they would call me back the next morning. The next morning no call. So I called them around noon they said they got busy and they'd call back by end of day. No call. The next morning I called again they said they got busy - no apology - they'd call back end of day. No call. The third day I called and said It's been three days and everyday I've called you told me you'd call me back I just want to know how much tylenol to give my baby. We've been very busy and we can't give that information over the phone when we don't know the weight of the baby lol. are you kidding me???? And no apology. Any moms out there you know when you've got a baby in pain and you're trying to figure out what to do it's the worst. To have an actual doctors office know my baby was in discomfort and not give the courtesy of a call back even just to say we can't give you that info would have been better. At least I wouldn't be holding my screaming baby staring at the phone waiting for it to ring - and then no empathy for the situation or professionalism. I'd stay away. I sure did. read more
