Irma's SW is always consistent with their food execution, quality and service. My favorite dishes are the green and mole enchiladas as well as their sleeper, the quesadillas! God, I went through my "fat" phase where all I wanted was some Irma's quesadillas in October 21. Now, I usually go for the salmon tacos. Young Flave tip - get them blackened with grilled jalapeños on top. If you're looking for an upscale, downtown setting for Mexican - this is it. We used to live across the street at our corporate apartment and would frequent Irma's alllll...the time. Walked in and immediately noticed how nice the space is, its a classy spot. The staff was hospitable and attentive. The menu covers all the Tex-Mex staples you'd expect, plus a burger if you're that person. They have an interesting "exotic" menu featuring nilgai, boar, and antelope. At our table, the mushroom and spinach quesadilla was a hit. the nilgai enchiladas were excellent, paired with some mighty tasty beans and rice. The pork tamales also made people happy. Came in town and needed to find a restaurant fast. I'm never a fan of hotel food. We ventured out and found Irma's. Love love love the menu! We tend to sit at the bar because we find it always has the best service.....and Marco did not disappoint. We started off with a couple of skinny Juan's that did not disappoint Marco hooked us up with a requested very hot habanero salsa that makes you sweat! My wife got the pork tamales. She loved them. Popped in after an Astros game on Saturday and had a pretty good experience. The service was fantastic and everyone who worked there was friendly. I was surprised to see a limited menu, I guess on game days they do this? We tried the cheese enchiladas, the shrimp tacos, and their homemade lemonade. The food was good enough. Holy smokes this place is fantastic! Came here for an after work dinner with friends (it was suggested by someone who is from Houston) and it certainly didn't disappoint. The Guac and VIP queso were stellar. I had the combo which was all freshly prepared. The entire staff was welcoming and extremely attentive and friendly! We went for lunch on a weekday and enjoyed it! The restaurant was beautifully decorated for the holidays and had a very elegant feel. We started with the complimentary chips and salsa which were good. We also ordered the queso and guacamole which were delicious. For my entree I had the Homemade Pork Tamales which are made daily in house. I LOVED THEM! They were perfect and came with rice and beans. For dessert we tried the Homemade Tres Leches (with canela, cajeta and crushed walnuts) which was good but very sweet. We also had the Homemade Sopapillas with ice cream, honey, cajeta, canela, powder sugar & walnuts. I highly recommend them! Service was good but towards the end our server disappeared for a bit. I was very excited to try a great Mexican restaurant while in Houston. This was highly recommended by our hotel. The menu is extensive and very unique. It features many wild game items, I was very surprised to see this on the menu. After reviewing the options there could only be one choice the Wild game sampler. It has boar, antelope and a taco. Like anything the meat will be a minir player in the flavor of the items. There was a tamale, taco, and sausage. The sausage was amazing some of the best Ive had very homemade. Heres where the wild boar really shines as it is fairly lean compared to farm raised. Taco was excellent as was the tamale. The tamale corn was perfect moist and heavenly. Pleasantly surprised and delicious dinner! I got the enchilada, tamale, carnitas plate and it was phenomenal! The carnitas packed some heat in the best way. The tamale had moist, tender masa and the mole enchilada was rich and not overly sweet. The service was great (though restaurant rather empty) for an early dinner. This place is amazing!! As a SoCal Mexican American, I tend to be biased on the quality of food served, especially Mexican food. Irma's hosted us for the World Cup games, accommodated by having the games on, adjusting volume, and tending to our needs. However, the top two components that stand out are how kind, generous, and welcoming the staff is, especially the owner Luis. He treated us like royalty, made accommodations for food preferences, and made sure every need was met. The staff was also just as kind and amazing. I will say the food here was very good although a bit expensive. I dined here with my coworkers who also enjoyed their meals. We started with Houston's favorite guacamole. And it was very good with a little touch of lime. Yum. I ordered the sea bass bc I already had a lot of southwest foods. My fish was excellent. It was served with mashed potatoes and vegetables. I took a client and a couple employees to Irmas SW on May 20, 2026 for dinner. I was very disappointed. The food at Gringos or Escalantes is far better and half the price. The service was average to below average. What really killed any hope of a good review was the price. A few drinks, nothing special and our bill for 5 people was $659.22. IRmas included the tip as an auto charge. That is $131.84 per person for very average Tex/MEx food. One plate ordered was $150 for the Parrilla plate. You would think that is a huge plate with a lot of meat. It was a regular plate and really not to be shared. I will not go back to Irmas SW, and will certainly tell everyone of the overpriced tacobell experience. read more

I came here after the Astros game and it was packed with so many fans!! We started with the queso and guac. Both were really good but the guac is made fresh to order and was probably my favorite. I had the shrimp tacos which had a little spice to it but was very flavorful. Rice comes on the side which wasn't that great but the tacos made up for it. Terrific place! Great food! I had their Chilean sea bass entree and I'm still dreaming about it two weeks later. Manager was super friendly and came out and talked to the customers. The bartender ( we sat at the bar) was super friendly and polite. You could tell everyone really wanted you to have a nice time up there establishment. Not one menu was available nor prices rattled off while he was talking so fast. If he said once, he did a dozen times I can serve family style so everyone can sample everything. Let's talk about the homemade lemonade, yes it was great but, what did all those glasses cost? We will never know. After 6 banana puddings were delivered, the bill showed up...remind you, this was a lunch meal for 11 people and zero alcohol. $1100+ later...have no words for how this amount was calculated and no explanation was provided. I came here for a huge 18 person work group dinner and the service was astounding! Our waitress was on it for describing the food, being attentive, and getting us what we needed even before we asked. Our drinks were always filled and service overall great. The food was delicious too! For apps, we got multiples of the Diablo shrimp, guacamole, and queso. All three apps were good. The enchiladas I ordered were also good. The food overall was good and ambiance was nice as well, I'm just knocking a star off since I'm not sure if it's worth the higher price tag for Tex-Mex food. A great change of pace restaurant if you're a fan of Irma's Original on the other side of the ball park. A much more upscale look and feel as well as a set menu. Service is always impeccable here. The staff are super friendly and make a point to get you anything you need. The place can get packed if you're here on an Astros game day, and you'll need to pay for parking if you haven't already. The game day vibe can't be beat though! The food and drinks are slightly over priced for Mexican Food, but you're downtown and the quality is very and consistent. There are wild game options and some Mexican traditional plates. The cocktails are great and you can't leave here without trying the the homemade Lemonade. Alright let's start off with the service. There are no menus. So they sit there and list everything super fast. Not a fan of that. Also when we got sat it was "what do yall want" not very welcoming. The guy was kind of rude the whole time and not very polite or anything like that. EXPENSIVE!!! I get homemade. But it was just sketchy. He put everything on one ticket without even asking. Then told one of us gratuity was included. (Which on the receipt it looked like it was) then told one of the guys that it wasn't. For a cheese dip that was like 4 oz and two medium margaritas (which may I add my bf broke out in a rash from which has never happened) it was almost $40 !!!! Would never go back here.
