I went there for my first tattoo and it was great! I got a Halloween flash from Rizza, a mushroom on my ankle. Everyone I show it too (including some heavily-tatted friends) is impressed by the line work and the shading, and even more so when I tell them how reasonable the prices are. The studio is clean and beautifully decorated, and all the artists are friendly. I'll definitely be going back if I decide to get another tattoo! read more

My favorite tattoo shop, Amanda is amazing and funny as all hell. Dont like that sometimes she doesnt have something drawn up and ready when you walk in but she always whips something up quick and she always does a good job. Really listens to what you want and gives her advice on how she thinks it could look better. The shop is clean and a good environment and the prices are fair for what you're getting, sometimes even a little cheap for the amazing work she does. read more

Amanda is an amazing artist and I give her five stars alone. But since Kevin left and I'm assuming the old owners came back, they are over priced and don't sound like they know what they are doing. The only person worth the money to spend on there in Amanda. The old men who work there are rude and Just want your money. They don't give a shit about your tattoo, and can't even look at a simple picture with out getting confused about the idea of the tattoo and what you want it to look like. They are Over priced and now charge for down payments which I've never had to do there in my life. read more

This tattoo shop is absolutely disgusting. There were bugs crawling on the chairs and the staff was extremely rude. I decided to not proceed with my tattoo after discussing it with Amanda. She did not react well to my second thoughts and became extremely rude. Amanda still tried to get me to pay when I asked to take a photo of my tattoo design so I could think about it further. As an artist she should have been supportive of my decision to hold off, especially since I backed out of my tattoo because of the shops lack of cleanliness and her lack of knowledge. I would not recommend Iron Butterfly to ANYONE. Their work is not that good and definitely not good enough to have such terrible, rude attitudes. read more

I had a tattoo done by the owner Joe Belle. He did a terrible job and the tattoo was not even close to the picture I gave him. My first grader could have done a better job. He charged me 200 dollars for a piece of sub par work. I have since gone to a professional place in Yonkers and had it completely redone for another 300 dollars. I challenge Joe to reach out to me and provide a full refund. I showed the tattoo to several artists in the Mahopac area and they all laughed. read more

I hate to write negative things about a business, but something needs to be said about the horrible customer service at Iron Butterfly. I called over a month in advance and made an appointment for my boyfriends birthday for a new tattoo. He likes tribal, so a tattoo artist has to draw on the tattoo and then tattoo it. Unfortunately when I showed up the day of the appointment, I was very disappointed. We stood in the shop for about 10 minutes before anyone even ackowledged us. When I finally got his attention, he said that he "doesn't do tribal," and his assistant can do it, although it's not her speciality and she has appointments for the next 4 hours. A tattoo shop doesn't know how to do tribal?? It seems this place only does stick on designs to trace, and does not offer and designs that the artist must actually create. Very disappointing. I am appalled that this goes on at a professional business. If I called for an appointment and was clear about what I wanted, this should not have happened the day of the visit. It was upetting that the day was ruined and it was too short notice to go to another tattoo shop. Iron Butterfly needs to clean up their act and hire people with talent and better people skills or their name won't take them very much further. read more
