Bald Eagle Trail is a fairly easy stroll through the woods, with near zero elevation changes…read morethroughout.  The entire trail spans from Brass Eagle Loop, along Lake Higgins, to Hamburg Mill Rd.  The total trip is about 7.5ish miles round trip, with an optional 3 mile loop (Bald eagle Loop).  Certain sections can be muddy after a heavy rain, but most of the low-ground has a sturdy boardwalk built, which adds flare to an otherwise boring walk.  There are a few stream crossings, but easy to keep dry if you're careful.  There were some downed trees, but we easily navigated around without any difficulty.  Dogs and bikes are welcome.  Plenty of parking at the Brass Eagle entrance; I'm not sure about the Hamburg side.  Bring bug spray, and don't forget to hydrate!

Even on weekends with decent weather I've seen them mostly available on the spot. There are also options for an annual pass, fishing, and even a paved ramp to put in motorized boats. You could also very easily just sit and relax here by the waterside or stroll around. But if you want to get on the lake, this is the prime spot. Bird watching along the shoreline is great from the vantage point of the kayak. With a vast array of birdsong to ID, you can even see kingfishers ducking, diving, and doing anything to ruin your chances of proving they exist with a photograph. But at least you can enjoy a quiet and relaxing float to ease the soul.

If Greensboro and High Point can claim somewhere as a "central park" it would have to be the parks…read moreand rec complex created by the fusion of City Lake Park, Jamestown Park and Golf Course, the High Point Greenway, and the Piedmont Environmental Center converging together on this point. If you can't figure out a way to spend a day outside somewhere in all that, you might just not like the outdoors! The Piedmont Environmental Center serves as kind of a trailhead for the High Point Greenway, as well as a system of lakeside trails that run along city lake and the golf course. The welcome center is attractive on the outside, though decisively could use a facelift indoors. Still, it has what you need. Restrooms, vending, information and brochures, and even a small exhibit featuring native snakes and amphibians from the Piedmont. I never pass up a chance to check out some snakes, preferably behind glass like these. The trails make a great place for a light intensity hike, a simple nature walk, or just a place to walk the dog. On my visit, it was an overcast and cool day in early spring, so it's not quite time for peak visitors yet. I prefer this time of year, things are quiet and serene, and the trees are just starting to bloom. There is no shortage of signage along the trails, and ample places to make sure you clean up after your dog. Another note, if you're a Pokemon Go player, there are no less than 12(!) easy to access gyms at both the major hub around the visitor center, and then several along the trails, not to mention a litany of Pokestops. Please only read this information and follow it if you're on team Mystic. The rest of you can feel free to forget you read it. All of this is free, so get out and enjoy nature as North Carolina provides in abundance!

It was a beautiful day so we went for a lovely walk to look at the monuments and flowers. We saw some wildlife and many dogs on leashes!! The park was free to enjoy! There was plenty of parking spots and restrooms. Inside the Visitors Center is a museum, some hands on display items to touch, a gift shop and 2 separate films to enjoy. A 10 min one and a 30 minute one to enjoy for free as well... Highly recommend visiting the park if you are in the area!!

I do wish there was a way to double press some of the exhibits inside, to be able to disable them. The speakers are quiet loud, and our little of course wanted to press the buttons, even after we moved on from that section. Then she complained about the loud noise of the speakers. It was fun learning about the parks history, doing the activities inside, and walking the grounds to see the grave sites, statues, and go hunting for wildlife scavenger hunt. The ranger that was on-site was very friendly and patient with our little when she interviewed him for one of the activities in the booklet and when presenting her with her badge. As we were leaving the ranger let us know about some other opportunities for guest to earn different badges at the park. We will have to try next time we are in town.

I was always in awe of the experience and wanting to try it. This was my first time camping. The camp grounds were clean. Our group camp site was in an extremely shaded area surrounded by trees. There are many trails here for hiking and I enjoyed this. I found a replica of an old frontier-style schoolhouse. It's what the school looked like 100 years ago. That was interesting. Since this is a camp site nothing about it was luxury of course but the most peaceful aesthetic was nature and the soothing effect the experience had on my nervous system. I brought all the things to be comfy. There were showers and decent bathrooms on the camp ground. This was less about amenities and so much more about embracing slow living. A place where no one is in a rush! The camp ground attendants were awesome. They came around daily collecting our trash. I do recommend this park for camping.

We went to check out the playgrounds on this particular day, and there is two separate playgrounds which have their own parking lot. You will need to drive to each one, they are not close enough to walk. The first one was near a shelter and bathroom and had more to do. Though the second one I preferred because it was in the shade but there was no bathroom. This was the only frustrating part because I feel like you have to cut your time short or pack everyone up just to go pee. I hope they consider a solution for this because it's enough of a drawback for me not to consider going again. I have also played volleyball here and I can attest that they are great courts!

It's about 2 miles total in hiking, so not very grueling, but the terrain does vary quite a bit throughout. The trails are chock full of inclines, declines, and roots to navigate. There is also an "easier" trail (which is considered moderate by trail standards around these parts) and a red marked trail. We stayed on the regular trail with the kids and had a fine time enjoying our stroll through nature. Some areas of the trail are rather narrow, and the entire place is well shaded during the summertime, making this a great place to come even on the hottest and most humid of days. No sunscreen needed! While I do have to admit that the "cascade" was a little underwhelming compared to what I had pictured in my mind's eye, the trickling sound of water always makes for the most tranquil of moments. This place is another deserving mention on the list of absolutely beautiful nature places to check out in the Triad!
