Law suit ready to happen. The air is so thick in the indoor range that your target disappears at the 25yard line. Not sure when the last time the filters were changed, but the fans (not the house fans they have going) dont even work in there, its hard to breathe let alone the fact of lead exposure customers and employees are being exposed to. Just the other day they had a swamp cooler in the range and the filters were already clogged up on the cooler. If your employees need to wear hazmat suits, just to sweep brass, imagine what you're inhaling in your lungs, what is setting on your own skin, as well as what is being absorbed through your eyes. Unless you want Cancer or some serious health issues for sure, do not expose yourself or others to this range! read more

Came here with a big group and the staff had no problem accommodating us. At one point I got my flag stuck way down in the chamber and the staff quickly stepped in, handled it like pros. The range itself isn't the prettiest, but it makes up for it with a wide variety of services and solid support. It's a full-service range. You can rent or buy firearms, buy ammunition, targets, etc. If you forget to bring your safety goggles or ear protection, they kindly provide it for you at no cost. Their staff is super friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Their prices are very reasonable. Their ventilation system is very good, so you are not chocking on burnt gunpowder fumes. The buddy and I were transferring a rifle I was buying from him so we headed to Iron Sights after I called in and made an appointment the week before. As you know, if you are a firearms enthusiast, a person to person sale of any firearm needs to go through an FFL due to the draconian laws by the miserable knuckleheads in Sacramento. So we, as law abiding citizens, met between where we live to dutifully follow the rules and get this sale/transfer done. Cause you know, this is what criminals do as they don't want to break the law. HA, HA! The particular rifle was something a very dear friend of mine used to have and I loved using it when we would go shooting together. Unfortunately we lost him during covid and I have always wanted one, especially to remember hanging out with him at his property and shooting targets and the washing machine. Anyway, back to Iron Sights. Since we had an appointment, we started the process exactly at 11:30am as agreed. That was great. Chris was the dude who would lead us through the process and we filled out our paperwork, provided driver's licenses, utility bill, CCW license and six gold bullions. Ok, just kidding about the gold, but I did have to pay the dopes in Sacramento more money just to enjoy one of my hobbies... Chris was patient and serious about the accuracy of our forms having us check and re-check the data. That was awesome. Chris was awesome. Local to me (4 miles from home). Does NOT require a ridiculous membership fee like most other ranges.... it's a straight flat fee (discounted for us retired military types). Well stocked shop and plenty of guns to rent (did this for several years before buying my Sig P226 and an SW MP 12). Have been taking my now adult sons here since back when they were teenagers. Being pro 2A, it had been on my to do list for years to finally complete a purchase and exercise my liberty. The staff here is super friendly, answers all of your questions with a smile, and most importantly they treat you with RESPECT. Range is a good size, with safety being a top priority. Parking is easy, just make sure to avoid the neighboring businesses private lots as they may enforce towing. The paperwork process with them was exactly how it should be, following all laws and guidelines, and ultimately I felt safe with every interaction and conversation inside of this business. Shot here as a first timer. The staff made it really easy to understand the process, get necessary gear, and get going. Feels comfortable and safe, and you can use your own supplies to save money on rental feels, they just inspect the ammo first which is great. I'm docking a star for the way staff did not take me seriously as a young woman and communicated with my older male counterpart on my behalf while I was literally standing next to him. This was my first time visiting so I called ahead to see how busy they were. I spoke with Chris and met him when we showed up. Chris and his staff were friendly right off the bat and made us feel welcomed. Iron Sights unfortunately does not have a large selection of rifles, no shotguns to speak of, but a decent array of revolvers and handguns so you'll probably need to B.Y.O.B. (Bring Your Own Barrels). Ammo prices were competitive and the lane rental is per shooter not time based. We rented a couple of handguns, bought a couple targets and 100 rds of .45 for three shooters (brought my own rifle too), eyes and ears included, spent over an hour putting holes in paper all for $139. Not the cheapest range around but I really don't mind paying a little more for not shooting in a dark, poorly ventilated, dirty hole-in-the-wall range. In fact, the Iron Sights facility is probably closer to the high end indoor ranges in AZ. Speaking of AZ, unlike most of the ranges in California, Iron Sights allowed me to rapid fire my rifle. The only stipulation is that the firearm operation is under control and the lead hits the target but this is the first indoor range that I've been in that didn't have a "one round every three seconds" policy...yeah...I give them five stars just for being cool! read more

This was my first experience at an indoor range and the staff made it an amazing time! My girlfriend and I had only shot a few times prior, so they took 15-20 minutes to explain how to properly handle and shoot a handgun. We felt very safe by the time we headed into our stall. We were able to shoot 3 handguns and 100 rounds of Ammo for $130. They charge by the person here, not time based. All in all, we probably spent about an hour and half there and had an amazing time! Fantastic range, great ventilation (don't need to be breathing lead fumes), decent parking lot, super helpful employees, and they offer basic training classes (with certificate of completion) for those who sign up. I really enjoyed the class and the instructors, and my first time at the range with my own gun was epic. I highly recommend that anyone interested in guns or new to guns take the basic safety class. It's well worth it and it includes an hour of range time after you get up-to-speed on everything guns. It's important to learn the stuff you don't know that you don't know. Also, some outdoor ranges require proof of basic training so the certificate helps there, especially smaller ranges where everyone is an RSO (Range Safety Officer). At least, that's what Rainbow Range told me. Taking a safety class is a great idea regardless, even if you know a little about guns. Glad I did! This place rocks. One of the employees even helped me figure out how to change the lenses on my fancy new shooting specs (since they came shipped with dark lenses). Thank you, kind sir. I bought some snap caps on my way out. Love this place, and wish it were closer. I may keep going here even though it's a bit of a hike from Wildomar. Keep in mind that like most ranges, you can't rent a gun if you don't bring a gun with you or bring a friend with you. This is a bit of a grim subject when one thinks about the reasoning here, so bring a friend if you want to rent and/or bring your own firearm. read more

Visiting Iron Sights is always for me a first rate experience. I particularly appreciate the professionalism of the staff, and their strict adherence to the range safety policies. It makes a body feel safe while enjoying the range. It would be a little negligent of me not to mention, the top notch range equipment, and the pistol and rifle sections. I really like the fact that you are permitted to shoot both up to 25 yards. I have shot in several Southern California indoor facilities in the last several years, and I can honestly say that among those, Iron Sights is the finest. I went here for the first time while back in town (grew up in this area) for a special memorial item for my dads grave. I wanted to leave this on my dads grave as we both were avid Hobbiests and a vet. The staff was so helpful and compassionate. It was very touching.... And appreciated!! It's like the fact they have an exposed carry gives them an excuse to have a "holier than thou" attitude. The staff at iron sights are definitely NOT like that. This was my second time at Ironsights Shooting Range. Both times I was impressed with the staff, they are all extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and patient when answering questions. The first time I went in, I took a buddy who had never shoot a handgun before. We worked with Natalie, she helped my friend pick out a pistol to shoot. She made sure it fit his grip properly. And made sure he knew how to use it safely. I already went over the safety rules so he was good there. Natalie helped me choose a 1911 .45 to shoot. I love handguns, and really love 1911's. She had us setup in no time flat. The second time was today, my buddy wanted to bring his son and teach him Gun safety and how to shoot. Once again, I handled range safety rules outside before we got there. In the range. As you can expect, it is very loud. Lots of guns popping off and you are wearing hearing and eye protection. I don't think that is the time / place to teach safety. I have my buddies son a quick lesson and watched as he sent a few rounds down range. Natalie knew it was his first time, so she worked with him. She showed him how to improve his stance, his grip, and worked on squeeze and breath control. Natalie also took time out to take a few pictures of our group. We did before and after pictures with our last target. I was very impressed with the professionalism of the staff as well as their friendliness. Their prices are very reasonable, especially considering how hard it is to get ammo these days. Walk-ins welcome. We didn't see a designated line area but there were 4-5 staff that kept track of customers walking in. From the lobby area, you start at "Check-In", to sign in. They take information from your ID/Driver's License. If you didn't pre-complete the waiver available online, they'll have you complete it on their iPad. You select the firearm(s) and you start with 50 rounds with the option to purchase more. We are beginners and didn't feel completely comfortable on our own. The guy helping us pick out the firearm offered us one on one/side by side instruction while at our assigned shooting station but the way he communicated his offer, we felt he really wasn't trying to hold our hands through the process. We felt that we understood the instructions well enough and we had gone range shooting a few years back but were still not confident. Handling a live firearm is pretty intimidating. I recommend insisting on side by side instruction especially if this is your first time and if there is any hesitation on your part. Once you leave the counter put your ear and eye protection on and with the firearm, magazine, amo (50 rounds) paper target (x3/pack) in your plastic caddy, walk to the shooting station entrance. Open the 1st door and this will bring you into a small waiting area. Wait until the door closes then open the 2nd door that brings you to the shooting range. Walk to your assigned numbered shooting station with your full caddy. Leave the firearm, magazine, amo, and hang your paper target (tape to use is hanging at the top right of your station). Just a few steps behind your station is a counter top aka "bench" where you can place your personal belongings and your now empty plastic caddy. We didn't get the memo from the guy instructing us but the caddy they give you with the firearm, magazine, amo & paper target is where the firearm remains unless you are loading, unloading or shooting at your assigned shooting station. You cannot hand hold the firearm from your shooting station to your bench regardless if it is unloaded and the chamber is empty. Walk your caddy from your bench to your shooting station to place the released and empty magazine, firearm with emptied chamber into the caddy and carry the caddy out to the exit (remember the 2 door exit/entry) that will lead you back to their lobby area. 2 people, 1 shooting station, ear & eye protection for each, 1 firearm, 50 rounds, 3 paper targets cost $70 open. No time limit. 50 rounds goes fast but it was enough for us. We had fun. You can take pictures and videos while in the shooting range. They ask that you limit the subjects in your photos/video to your party. No photos/video in the lobby area. read more

Typically, I shoot in So. OC because I reside there however, as my self defense training has become a greater priority, I find myself practicing sidearm drills like double taps, Mozambique and even tactical shotgun practice using 00 buckshot...things my local range no longer allow. The increasingly restrictive policies coupled with increased fees and unfriendly ammo policies compelled me to try Iron Sights Shooting Range. While this range is twice the drive for me (30 minutes vs 15 to shoot locally) my first time shooting here (4/17/24) was so immensely positive I will continue to come here. The first thing I noticed was the atmosphere...these people enjoy working here and are eager to assist customers in any way they can. Chris was very helpful when I arrived to pattern & sight two tactical shotguns. He was generous with his time and advice and familiar with the Vang Comp features on my new 12ga. I learned some lessons from him that he had learned the hard way. I prefer to learn the easy way from those with lots of experience. The whole place just resonates a good vibe, unlike my local range where the staff seem unhappy and eager to bark at customers for any reason. The tension there is palpable...something that occurred during Covid and stuck. In contrast, ISSR has more of a CHEERS feel, full of friendly folks who freely socialize with each other. I was fortunate this day, the man in the lane next to me (Mike, who served in the Army and SWAT) was quite helpful to me. I was struggling with my shotgun and asked him to shoot it to confirm it was me and not the new gun that was at fault. But his shots were off exactly as mine were...adversely impacted by the large RDS which messed up the sight picture when turned off. He recommended removing it...something Chris had also said might be a plus when I showed it to him. But I didn't have the tools in my range bag to do it. No prob, Chris was happy to assist and removed the Aimpoint ACRO P-2 sight. Once removed, all the pieces of the puzzle came together, and my Rem 870 VC is now dialed in and ready for use. The tips both Chris & Mike gave me were invaluable and I left with a big smile, a sense of confidence and a sore shoulder. Shooting slugs and 00 buck will do that to you after a couple of hours. At checkout, my fee was nearly half that of my local range. I did witness a policy violation on the firing line and watched as the staffer addressed it with the shooter. He was calm, quiet, respectful, and just handled the concern calmly and professionally...as it should be. He was not irked, aggressive, loud and off-putting like the gang at my local range in So. OC. I can conduct all the traditional self-defense drills here which makes the added 15 minutes of driving to Oceanside worthwhile. Iron Sights sets the customer care bar so high, others need to charter a plane just to see it. If you're looking for a friendly and welcoming place to escape, burn rounds, talk about, upgrade, and buy guns or seek specialized firearm training...this is your new hangout. You will realize it the moment you enter the premises...their encouraging atmosphere is infectious. Customers and staffers are all laughing and getting along, enjoying themselves. Nobody even smiles at my local range. Oh, one other thing...their DROS fees are much lower too. Go visit Iron Sights and see for yourself. Tell em Bruce sent you...you can thank me later. read more
