Manager cooked it third time and it came out right. But then manager told us rare hamburger was perfectly safe to eat. USDA does not agree with that. The food use to be good it's mostly boxed or processed now. The service is horrible. When you go to pay, you wait for 20 minutes while they fill ice cream orders. There is one person at the checkout doing both jobs, even when there are waiters standing around in the restaurant. This is during and off time. That was a quit good restaurant. And they have a section for "truck drivers" only. That's very nice! The server was super friendly and nice. The food came pretty fast but not super fast as we expected. I have ordered a steerburger which came with 2 sides (I picked baked potato and a soup of the day). Steerburger was delicious. Man this place is good. Im sure that I would definitely say that this is one of the best health wise restaurant that there is near by the the interstate I eighty. Iron skillet is pretty affordable for anyone. They have many varieties of different kinds of food and their salad bar looks amazing. This place has a lot of tables. When I walk in its usually full of people. In my opinion a lot of people has the same opinion as me. When I visit this restaurant, I usually order a New York steak medium well. It also come with salad bar and it is about 20.00 dollars. You can see a picture of a steak below the review. The meat is cooked amazingly and the steak is delicious. If you will ever visit it and you will have a trouble finding it, it is located inside of a Petro/TA truck stop. There is plenty parking. For trucks and cars. Nothing brings me the happy start to my day like a good diner breakfast. I stopped here on a business trip and I feel ready to tackle the work ahead. I would take a good Truckstop/diner breakfast over the fanciest restaurant. Some things don't need frills, breakfast is one of them and this place does a good job. The coffee was perfect and the rest of the food good. They even managed to get me brown gravy for my chicken fried steak which is a big plus in my book. Since COVID-19, it hasn't been the same. It makes me sad on how much it affected one of my favorite restaurants. The food isn't bad, but it's not the same. There used to be a lively buffet, fast staffing, and a menu to choose from! Now, it's running like an "old-folk's home cafeteria." The last few times we ate there, my husband has found and bit down on pieces of plastic in his food. Wome of the rudest employees we have every came across. On our way to a charity event we stopped with our non profit here for dinner. When we told them there was 9 of us they told us they couldn't seat us, other customers said they would move with our a problem to make room for us....the employees started throwing menus around and slamming down utensils once we seated ourselves. Had dinner here on the 15th of May 2021 giving them benefit of doubt I had the chicken parmesan first try they burnt the chicken black on the bottom and still served it to me asked them to redo and instead of taking whole plate spaghetti and all just took chicken to be redone then brought me back at end of my meal another piece that was tough on the bottom like it was fried in a skillet and never turned over and close to burnt but just not black yet like first one was. Staff - hands down 5 stars. All of them were upbeat and friendly. Went out of their way to help you even if they weren't your server. Food is good diner food. It's not the best I've ever had but it certainly wasn't the worst I've ever had either. Prime rib buffet all you can eat (Saturday night) Our party did enjoy the salad bar and all seemed to enjoy. Many fresh fruit choices. We did have an issue with some breakfast sausage being undercooked on the kids meal. Disappointed. I am concerned about the COVID-19 virus. I called ahead to check if they had instituted safety measures. I was told that the staff wear masks and seating was at a social distance. Yes the seating was as stated, the kitchen staff did not wear masks and some staff wore their masks on their chins. This a good place if you need some comfort food. The salad bar was tasty, but some bacon bits would be great. We all had the buffet and there was a nice selection. Pot roast, fish, mac and cheese, fried chicken, bbq pork roast and mashed potatoes were some of the selections. Soup and rolls were available as well as dessert plates. The service here was not great and really that was our only complaint. Our server obviously did not want to be there, and seemed a pretty grim, bored guy. I had only one dish, which was fabulous, even for Petro. I has some pulled pork with bbq sauce. Not overly sauced which was a great idea. I don't care for those super sweet sauces anyway. Then there was smoked beef. That was really unexpectedly good. Tender and moist. No sauce on those. Loved that fact. Tasted like steak. And just to be healthy, I had a spoon of green beans. Stopped here for a bite to eat on our way to South Dakota. Thought it would be a good choice to grab some food other than fast food and stretch our legs. We were wrong. Food really is not that good. I had the omlette and it nothing more than some flat eggs folded over with some loose meat laying inside the two folds. Very bland. Meat was overcooked. Took 45 minutes to get our food and they were not too busy . You would think for a truck stop they would get you in and out fast but that is not the case.
