Iron soul was by far the best gym I ever trained at until: Yesterday morning I went to iron soul and ran on the treadmill for an hour watching a movie on my phone the whole time. I returned home and received an email from iron soul stating that my membership had been cancelled because I was "staring at female members and making them feel uncomfortable". I had no idea what they were talking about and racked my brain as to how something I did could be labeled as excess staring . I called and left a message for an explanation and right to defend myself, I emailed back and asked how they could kick me out without speaking to me on the matter based on someone's subjective opinion of what my eyes where doing. They did not answer my calls during business hours and did not respond to my email as of yet. They labeled me guilty without the decency of giving me a combat veteran and first responder the right to defend myself against accusations on my character. This is such a disappointment because I loved the training there so much However if this is how they do business and I feel that I have to walk on eggshells and look at the ground in order to not inadvertently offend someone there than I rather not be a part of that gym. Hope you have a better experience than I did however another former member I know was telling me something similar happened to him so I'm not crazy. read more

Iron soul is a rip off. Save your money. You're better off going to Defined lol. The owner is rude and crass and though the front says they will refund you. The owner will tell you they never refund. If you like lifting free weights, this is the place for you. They have plenty of deadlifting platforms, squat racks, benches, bumper plates for olympic lifts, and a ton more. You also get a key fob so you can go 24/7. And the price is super reasonable for a specialty gym. read more

Personally, I'd rank the gym 5/5. And since this is a my account, here's why: 24/7 unlimited access (with your membership), they provide chalk, all the weights! bars! And toys for a gym goer, the clientele & trainers & owner Eric are inclusive and encouraging no matter what level athlete you are, and another big draw is the grit of the gym. I have a soft spot in my gym heart for the old school feel of going 'to do work', and this place is no exception. What it's not, and why others may give it 3-4/5, it's not a machine based, glitzy, glamorous gym. It doesn't have a million unnecessary (but sometimes nice) amenities, and cardio doesn't have a strong suit there (and you'll get a few jabs for using the elliptical). Overall, come here to let the beast mode out, or you can't sleep, or however you want to spend your gym time. Just showing up will become addictive similar to wanting to push heavier and heavier weight around. read more

I visited here on the advice of a friend and it was an amazing place. It's easily the best gym space in ABQ if not anywhere. Since they've moved into a larger space I felt motivated to put up this review as I'm very impressed with the great layout of the sport specific equipment, as well as general purpose equipment. If there's a way to really get strong, they've got it. Iron Soul has an incredibly inclusive atmosphere and it's your best bet if you're serious about getting huge. They don't care who you are or where you come from, they really are just interested in where you are going (if where you are going is to swoll town). Feel free to be you, there's plenty of space for you to let the beast out and no there's no judgment here if you drop a weight or 10. My first time here, I was feeling a little under the weather from low blood sugar, like I was gunna pass out, the owner was genuinely concerned and knew something was up (I must have looked pretty pale) and gave me a few sour patch kids, I felt immediately 100x better. I can't tell you how much that meant. Sometimes a little common care and courtesy shows you who people really are. If you're curious about if this is your kind of place, just look at the pictures of it. You should be able to use your best judgment and tell if this is what you're looking for or not. It pretty much is as it looks. A spa this is not, but the price is also not a spa price so in my mind that's a benefit. Take a bubble bath somewhere else if that's what you're looking for. read more

Awesome gym! Dropped in while visiting from Vegas. Eric showed me around and was even kind enough to loan me a belt when I realized I forgot to pack mine. Gym has everything you need if you love to lift. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Gym is clean and not packed to the rafters. Bonus: no creepers! Highly recommend this gym. read more

Wow I have to say what a shady gym. Because of covid-19 situation the owner or someone named Eric decided to tell us New Mexico was not allowing day passes. Seems he is using it as a way to con people into buying memberships or a way to exclude anyone who is not member. However went to another gym and was greeted happily and given discounted day passes. As well as spoke with yet another gym in the area and was informed would be able to have day passes and no appointment. Eric from iron soul however, LIED about New Mexico regulations and seems rather shady and exclusive. Have gone to gyms such as powerhouse with similar vibe, and the owner Dave fisher is extremely nice and opposite of this behavior. I worked at a bodybuilding clothing company that sponsors raymont Edmonds, and I have never seen any pro athlete act this way. My wife is a budding power lifter who has spent her time next to some amazing individuals and is incredibly upset over Eric's actions. She would have loved to workout in a similar environment to what she is accustomed at powerhouse. I do also work for major Corp gym and would never turn away a potential member. This made me confused at Eric's behavior. So yelp, bodybuilders and power lifters if you are visiting do not go to this gym, message me for information. Happy to respond. read more

This is the best powerlifting gym I've ever been to, and I've been to quite a few! They have many specialized bars: power, deadlift, squat, cambered, etc. Several deadlift platforms, power racks, Olympic lifting platforms, pound plates, kilo plates, bumper plates. Bands, chains, chalk, kettlebells, dumb bells up to 150 lbs. It's very easy to sign up and cancel, the monthly rate is super high-value at less than $40, and the members are positive and respectful. The owner is attentive and helpful. It's 24/7, good location, plenty of off-street parking. I have no shortage of great things to say about this gym. If you are into powerlifting, weightlifting, or strength training in general, this place is a no-brainer. read more

I own a gym myself, and have been a strength and conditioning coach for over 21 years. Iron Soul is one of the best gyms I've ever been to. If I lived in ABQ this is where I'd train. When I travel to ABQ, this is where I will train. Eric, the owner, is a great gym owner and a great man. His work ethic, integrity, and continent are second to none. And he's a veteran, having served in combat in Iraq...that is a factor that should NOT be overlooked. Support veteran-owned businesses when you can. Without a doubt the Best Powerlifting gym in town. I trained here for a short time and loved it! From the owner ( Eric) all the way down to the cleaning staff you will not find a better, more accessible, well equipped place to become Bigger, Stronger and/or Better.
