My partner went here on a class pass to get a workout in since it's been awhile since we moved out to Jersey. He went during the day and it was pretty chill, not overcrowded where there was enough space and everyone got time to do their workouts. I really love this gym and try to come here when I'm staying in the area. It's such an effective and varied workout and the time goes really fast. The instructors are super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful and it seems like it's a really great community without being clicky. You will get a really good workout in but focused on strength training (for Guns, Buns and Lungs at least). If I lived in this neighborhood I'd probably be here almost every day. read more

Baby...they are working you OUT over here. Like today I damn near yelled. It was that real. The best workout in Jersey City hands down. And I really miss my fitness community in New York a lot a lot. My favorite thing about this place is the STRETCHING! Like they really want you to not harm yourself. That's so crucial with functional workouts. When I first discovered Ironbound, I was a little skeptical at first because I was so used going to traditional gyms my entire life. It's been 8 months since I joined and this has been the best fitness decision I've ever made in my life. It's incredible how much my physical fitness has improved since being a member. Great training, great community. Loved this gym when I lived in Jersey City and miss it now that I don't have anything like this near me. The workouts are effective and fun, coaches are personable and don't take themselves too seriously (some are former students too!) and the owner Josh is great. Initially tried this place on class pass, enjoyed it, tried the $49 unlimited month, and eventually ended up joining when that finished! this place gives you such a great total body work out (I've lost 10lbs in the last month!)! The classes go by quick, are engaging, and the trainers are great. They take the time to explain what to do and help you along the way. As someone who was just getting back into the grind of working out, I didn't feel intimidated and you are able to go at your own pace. The facility is clean and everyone is super nice. I appreciate how their classes run and end on time (which is important when you have to make it to work after!). There is an app you use to sign up for various classes on your phone to reserve a spot. You have an hour before the class begins to cancel before being charged a fee. First of all: its a clean gym. Good bathroom. This is important. Fully stacked kettlebells that the coach Josh cleans after every class consistently... That's impressive. I never have to worry about unclean environments. Well done. The workouts are catered to everyone's ability. No pushy, machisimo b.s. The coach is encouraging, but won't coddle you. Working in physical therapy, I can be picky when it comes to joining a gym and when working with trainers. Josh, Greg and Jess are passionate about what they do. It's apparent in their well thought out workouts and enthusiastic and motivating personalities. Their workouts are not meant to be easy but I appreciate that they're not making it hard for sake of being hard. (No Suka!) They keep a close eye one everyone so that people all move and load up safely. They're meant to challenge you so that it can change you. But they don't throw gimmicks at you, or promise you shortcuts. They tell it how it is: if you are consistent with them, you for sure will be stronger. You will be leaner. With a complete work out in every class I have to say Ironbound has exceeded my expectations. I know how hard can be to look for a gym that can keep your motivation always in a high pace, if you are looking for a place when you're going to find a different work outs in every class, motivation each minute and feel the sweat of your energy in every session, look no further. Joshua keeps you busy and motivated, and even if you're in a group class, he takes the time to correct your form and teach you how to do it properly. I tend to be a shy person in a new enviorment, but, people here is friendly, zero attitude and everyone is working in every session, so, it's a place where you maximize your time working out. Intimate and personal training sessions. I've only gone twice so far, but both times it felt like I was part of a community. Everyone looked out for each other and the instructor knew everyone by name. There was a strong focus on form which reduces the potential for injury. I don't have a ton to add to the other great reviews, but I still needed to chime in because I love this gym so much. I've been going to IPA for about two months now doing both classes and individual training and it keeps getting better. Josh is a fantastic coach and understands that everyone's fitness goals are different and is able to adapt to each individual client. Every workout is different, engaging and challenging. Josh is clearly very knowledgeable and really loves what he does. The classes are great, too. Every movement has a modification so everyone gets an intense workout. You're never in a race with your other classmates (which I appreciate because I always seemed to be the last one to finish their thousandth burpee in Crossfit) and there's always a supportive vibe in every class. Recently signed up for Iroundbound Athletic with Joshua and it has been fantastic. Joshua is very well trained and extremely professional. The workout is fantastic. I'm going to go ahead and say these were the best works outs I have ever had. Before you begin, Joshua will spend time with you understanding your needs and goals. He also has a great diet rule he follows and it has worked well for me far. I encourage anybody who is contemplating joining to give this a shot for a week or so. read more

IPA is an excellent facility. I have been in the area for five years and have tried multiple gyms in and around Jersey City. I was with BASE for 3 years so I have higher expectations of fitness equipment, classes, and instructors. IPA has top of the line equipment and classes that will work you very hard. The instructor, Josh is SFG certified so he knows what he is talking about it and knows how to teach it well. I did the first month special and got semi private training sessions for kettlebell work and it was well worth it. He gave good feedback when it was needed and he told me what I was doing well. He gave suggestions and tips for the future. In just the 3 sessions over a one month period, I've already seen results in my kettlebell movements. I highly recommend him --especially for personal training. Lastly, although the gym is new I already start to feel more of a community there. read more

This gym has been my go to gym since it's inception and I'm loving every minute of it. Josh is an excellent trainer and teacher. Super patient with you as you learn and practice technique. He is a great encourager and motivator. The space is awesome, equipment is great. The classes are just the right amount of time and intensity, you leave feeling great everytime. Love the fact that he has an open gym on Sundays for anyone to come and use the facility. Main thing is that I am seeing noticeable results so it is motivating me to keep going! read more

I have been passing IPA for a few weeks now and decided to do the 30 day risk free trial for $49. Not new at working out at the gym but totally new at group workouts like the ones at IPA. If this is your case - be not afraid! Josh is attentive and helpful especially for those of us who are a little less hand-eye coordinated than others and the other people in your classes are amazing and friendly! I would say that IPA is great for any fitness level honestly, Josh's workouts are always accommodating to anyone with injuries and never tells you to push past any pain or something you are uncomfortable with. If you are feeling uncertain, take a class anyway and try something new. Also take a recovery formula after because the buns will be sore! read more

Love Ironbound! Josh is an amazing thoughtful trainer, who pushes you to work hard and inspires you to continue a regular regimen and more importantly live a healthy lifestyle. He's results oriented, and really helps you stay on track to meet your specific goals. Even in the group classes he still tries to give individual attention to help keep you focused on your goals. Since training with Josh at Ironbound I've lost several pounds, gained significant muscle definition, and have built so much more confidence in myself. He is the consummate professional and comes to each session with a great sense of humor and always makes the workouts super fun. I think his calm demeanor in 1:1 sessions as well as the group classes make it easy to feel comfortable even when some of the exercises stretch you beyond your comfort zone. I've tried crossfit, hiit classes, various personal trainers, and different workouts and this one works for me. I joined IPA back in October, and I'm so glad I did. This is the first time I've ever consistently gone to the gym (I historically give up after 2-3 weeks), and I can feel (and see) myself getting stronger. Josh is a very knowledgeable trainer, and his workouts are the perfect mix of strength training and high-intensity cardio. I'm motivated to keep going, and I give a ton of credit to Josh and the structure of his workouts. He makes you work hard, pushes you, makes it fun, but he emphasizes proper form for each exercise we do. The folks that I've met at IPA are super friendly and encouraging. 5 stars is simply not enough. The value you receive can not be overstated. Josh is a member of Jersey City community who knows what he is doing. The workouts will test you, but are fun and engaging. The people (family) that I have met in the classes are encouraging as we are all there to raise our overall health. The classes fit all types of people from beginner to trained athlete.
