My husband was diagnosed with Bell's and we were referred by the emergency to this physician office. The woman gave awful customer service.

Every time I've needed the on call service and it's Dr.Bala on call....he never calls back. One time I called 3 times in one night due to pain and he never called. They told me to go to the emergency room for what was later strep. All I needed was antibiotics. Just terrible read more

A lot has changed at this practice in the last year. Where I was once able to get a same day appointment with Dr Rose, I now have to wait until next day to get in with someone else. At least, I did until I was terminated, by an ignorant physician that wasn't 'mine'. They are sitting on paperwork for my autistic son, and denying him treatment he needs (flu shot and behavior therapy continuation and transferring records to a pediatric practice.) I'm angrier about that than being terminated for not having my anti-anxiety medication show up in a urine test. Turns out having 4 cups of coffee right before a urinalysis testing a water soluble medication is a bad idea, but dr Lobb, who ordered the test did not know or care that it was water soluble. He also ignored the top of the lab that stated not all medications would show up in the sample as it was not very dense, and finally, he refused to do a blood test at my request. I had to do my own research to calm the anxiety and panic kicked off by the negative results of the test the anti anxiety medication. He had no interest in helping me. Ironically, my visit that day was not even FOR that, and was a "first available" and he was not even my physician. They began assigning patients to Dr Lobb from Dr Rose based on who was "last seen" without TELLING me a new policy was in place. My son's care has been compromised because of that policy. Dr Rose is a good doctor, but you can't get to see him even if you've been a patient of his for two years unless you schedule your appointment far in advance, and if you accept a sick visit with Lobb or Risser, you lose Rose. I was considering leaving this practice because neither I nor my son could get in with Rose same-day. We saw NP Bell) for several months prior to my wrongful termination as a patient. (You just DON'T tell an anxiety patient their anti anxiety medication isn't showing up and turn them loose with no explanation, yet Lobb did exactly that!) They held his behavior therapy paperwork for two weeks after many calls from the BT place and myself, requesting the return of completed paperwork before saying they wouldn't fill it out at all. It sat on Dr Lobb's desk, and he was unqualified to fill it out bec he doesn't actually know my son. He diagnosed my 8 year old with a "verbal learning delay" because he was unaware of the autism diagnosis when he entered the room. The office is always crowded with patients. They have most people fill out an iPad on each visit, yet I only touched an iPad twice, somehow it was waived or overlooked whenever I was checking in. Tl;dr I have never been so disappointed by a medical practice. They used to be really good. The office staff was also very kind. Now, they are just too busy to display the care they used too. read more

I have been going here since they opened. The doctors are awesome, but some of the nurses /clinical staff are lacking. One nurse was trying to take blood for An A1C from hubby and she stated that his capillaries keep moving and she can't get a needle in. I said what?? She was an idiot. I reported her and was told they have had complaints but because Bon Secour bought them they can't fire anyone. read more

My family went to this practice the entire time we lived in the Chester and North Chesterfield area. Had we moved to Henrico, I still would have traveled to Dr. Rose! For the first time in my life, I never had to adjust my schedule to make sure I got in with a certain doctor, because everyone in this office is amazing. I love them all, dearly, and I am saddened that I moved out of state and couldn't take them with me! I have referred several friends to this office, and they have gone there as well. ASTHMATIC WITH DIFFICULTY BREATHING No stars.. I went in today in order to get a prescription for the same medicine I get a prescription for almost every year that I need for the same respiratory problem that have just about every year. After CLEARLY explaining what I was in there for, A RESPIRATORY ISSUE due to my history of asthma, they refused to treat me for such, and insisted that I take Tamaflu that I had been prescribed the day before by another doc. Yes I have the flu, but any issue I get brings on my respiratory problem which typically requires me to take Prednisone to clear me up right away so that I can breathe and my chest won't be so tight. They tried to make me feel bad for not taking Tylenol for my fever, in which I told them DOES NOT WORK FOR ME and tried to give me aspirin after I told them I could not take NSAIDS! I asked them to give me a letter in writing stating that they would not give me the meds I need, in case anything happens to me and they refused and one nurse went out of her way to come into the waiting area to fuss at me about the Tamaflu that I had not taken. Out of desperation, mind you I am having trouble breathing, I went to get the Tamaflu, took it, and I still feel exactly the same, still having difficulty breathing. I will most likely need to go to the ER so they can give me what I need. I explained to the nurse that my son who is also asthmatic, just went through the same thing, he had the flu, rode it out without taking Tamaflu and they prescribed him Prednisone and he was back to normal the same day because the flu was already pretty much gone that was the last step for wellness. We always get this medicine for our respiratory problem. They did not care to listen to me and insisted on trying to treat me for the flu instead of what I was there for. They appear to be very incompetent. They just hire anyone off the streets now it seems, as it was not like this years ago. I will never go back. read more

Most of the staff are professional and polite. However, I have been working with one "doctor" and she has done nothing but exacerbate my symptoms. She is cold-hearted and clearly only got in the business for the title and compensation. She cancels appointments with no notification to the patient and the encourages the staff to lie on her behalf. I still have my issues and they have worsened, and her treatment plan includes the same test every visit. I believe an investigation is called for. read more

f I could give no stars I would! **BEWARE when scheduling appointments here** Unfortunately one would not think to have to ask the name of the office employee when making your yearly physical appointment BUT BEWARE!! ASK and write it down. When you get to your appointment at the front desk AGAIN confirm what you are to be seen for. Normally you wouldn't need to be so vigile but at this family practice you MUST. What happened to me CAN happen to you. I called to schedule my yearly physical and was told my physican only scheduled them at 8am. I informed them I took my child to school and that wouldn't work so they let me know they would check with Dr. Risser and see if she would accommodate me. I received a call back and they said it was fine and scheduled me. I went in and signed in and no one asked for my copay because my insurance covers a yearly physical. Had my appt and they took my blood for test etc. Checked my vitals etc. I asked for my medications to be refilled. During the exam it was determined I had a sinus infection for which I was prescribed medication. THIS IS WHERE I BELIEVE IT ALL WENT WRONG. I believe they changed my appointment code to a problem visit because of this and charged my insurance company as a problem visit and not my COVERED yearly physical. I am sure in an attempt to get more money out of the insurance company. IF the appt was scheduled as a problem visit as they later said then THEY WOULD HAVE ASKED FOR MY COPAY UP FRONT BELIEVE THAT. When does your doctor's office not ask for that money up front. At my next appointment a month later I was told I had a balance from the previous visit. I explained it was a physical covered therefore should be no copay. I was greeted with an attitude and given billings phone. I called billing and was told oh well if you were treated for anything other than your physical (sinus infection) then they will change it and charge you for a sick visit. I decided to call my doctors office because surely this was not the case. Left message with office staff on a Tuesday. Went through entire situation explaining and was assured a return call. NO RETURN CALL. Called back on Monday morning at 9am. Was told they were short staffed and busy helping patients and someone would AGAIN call back. NO ONE DID. I called back 5 hours later and was told AGAIN someone would call back. I had to finally say I was coming up to the office in person because I couldn't get anyone to help me. Within 5 minutes I got a call back from billing person in the doctors office. She THEN TOLD ME SHE NEEDED TO SPEAK with the physician and call me back AGAIN. Another person called me back who said she was the office manager and basically told me in the computer it was put in as a problem visit NOT a physical and there was nothing she could do. I called back asking for my Dr. To return my call. She called and told me the SAME thing. No one apparently cares about their patients no longer returning to the office. All they care about is money obviously. It was their mistake but zero cares came from this practice. Not from Dr. Risser or her staff. All I got was I apologize. Might has said well sorry but you are OUT OF LUCK. If you go to this practice be very careful. We pay thousands of dollars a year for out insurance plan. In recent years health insurance costs have risen to astronomical prices. Cost go up but coverage keeps getting stingy and stingyer. If insurance will cover at least a physical a year I as a customer and patient should not have to go through this. It's NOT ABOUT the price of the bill. It's the principal. I will no longer be a patient of Dr. Risser and this circus of an office staff. read more

I would never recommend this office to anyone!! My physical was in no way a complete physical. I then went in for an appt. and I explained I had some type of vaginal infection. A urine and smear test was done....This was on a Monday so since by Friday I had never heard any results I called and was told my test were neg. I was puzzled since I was still having extreme discomfort from infection so they prescribed some estrogen cream. On Monday I received a voice mail from the office so I called back and was on hold for approx. 15 min. When I finally got to talk to someone they put me on hold and then I got disconnected. Called back and was put on hold another 15 min. Finally talked to someone who wanted to put me on hold again...I stated that was not acceptable after what I had been through so they could call me back. Finally got a call back and it was about my test results being neg. I stated I already knew that from Friday and obviously someone is not recording in my chart since that was already established and a prescription had been called in for estrogen cream. I will not be going back to this practice. Time to find another doctor!! read more
