I drove up with my two sons from Cave Creek to ride the Bean Peaks Gravity Flow Trails system for the day. During my second ride I started running out of rear break. Ironclad Bicycles saved the day. The shop is a 3-minute drive from the trail head. Brian and Corey were super helpful. Corey replaced my rear brake pads, lubed the chain, and I was literally back at the trails in 15-minutes. I spent $750.00 on a Specialized mountain bike there. It's a total P.O.S.! The tires never held air & lost pressure over night, the brakes were binding, the shifter didn't work, and that's BEFORE I EVER ROAD THE BIKE. These issues I discovered the first time I road the P.O.S., two months after I bout the P.O.S. I HAD TO PEDDLE THE DAME THING JUST TO GET IT TO ROLL DOWN HILL!!! I took the bike back for the first toon up, THAT JIM THE OWNER DID. It's still not shifting properly, the tires lose pressure, the chain is binding up and stretching, and Jim tried to sell me a more expensive ($200+) model that has less gears. I bought tire inserts that don't stop ANYTHING from puncturing the tires! A rechargeable lite that won't hold a charge, and a bike that if you tossed it into the Grand Canyon, would come back at you like a yoyo. I won't sell it because it would be unethical to do so. I had a Diamondback mountain bike that I rode up and down the West cost 3 times from San Diego to Washington try cities aria. That was a good bike, and if I could find that bike again I'd buy it in a heart beet. But this bike shop like Steven B. said, only wants people willing to spend THOUSANDS of dollars on a bicycle or they will GRIFT you for what they can. read more

Took our bike in on Easter morning to get a inoperable drop seat cable replaced. Matt was so very helpful. He got it repaired quickly and sent us on our way for an Easter ride. We highly recommend Ironclad. While on vacation in AZ in February 2019, we rented two hardtails from Ironclad Bicycles and rode part of the Chino Grinder. Jeff was fantastic - he answered all my questions, let us borrow a bike rack so we could get the bikes to Chino Valley with our small rental car, and let us take an extra tube (in addition to the tubes in the saddle bags) free of charge provided we returned it in the box. He went out of his way to make sure we were taken care of. Also, Ironclad has a wide selection of sizes (XS -XL) of hardtails. We wanted to ride gravel so did not want a full suspension MTB. None of the other bike shops in the Prescott area had a S hardtail for rent, let alone a XS. read more

If you show up with an expensive bike, be prepared to be accommodated and taken care of. If you show up with anything middle of the road or off brand, be prepared to be treated like pondscum and like you're an inconvenience. Mechanic wouldn't call company to verify compatibility of part in damper on bike, verbally accosted customer stating that would have been a waste of his time. Called company to re-verify compatibility, yep, sure is. In the end they didn't complete the work they stated that they would because it would have been a "waste of their time". Overall, I would say avoid this bike shop at all costs unless you fit in with the local bro groups. read more

I bought a bike there and the quality of the assembly was horrid. The mechanic was stoned and drunk (I saw him purchase a 12 pack and slam a beer in the Safeway parking lot before work and the odor of marijuana lingered from the back of the shop). The guys who work here were all really nice to me and my mom when we came in. They don't follow you around the store and hound you like I've experienced at a lot of other shops, which I appreciate. I found a bike I liked, and gave it a ride.. It was great, but maybe a bit too big. The younger guy who works there made some calls to order a smaller one for me, and when he found he wasn't able to get me the same one in a different size (I'm really picky about colors and components), he offered to, and then made customizations to the bike so it fit me better. Not only did he take the time to make sure I got exactly what I wanted, but he also let my mom and me talk his ear off, which can in itself be exhausting Oh! And he gave me a trail map and marked down some of the nicer rides for me. Anyways, nice guys. Good bikes. Great customer service. read more

Hmm, I can see why if you show up with a cheap bike, you might not get the service you hope for as these guys live and love their bicycles. The guys that work here love working on bikes and are riders themselves. Luckily, for me, I'm a cyclists and the time that I was in I was looking to fix something that wasn't quite smooth on my road bike and also looking for a riding group. The guy that helped me was SUPER helpful, SUPER nice and we joked and bantered the whole time I was in the shop. In fact, he didn't even charge me for the service cause he said I was so funny and it was a simple fix. Can't get better than that! I mean getting told I was funny!!!! He also referred me to a riding group and I did go- unfortunately, the riders were much better riders than me so I ended up going on a solo ride through the beautiful scenery of Prescott. If you have a good bike, you want to be taken care of and have guys who love bikes work on yours, this is the place to come! read more

They were supposed to box my bike for shipping that I just sold on Ebay. A simple dissasembly was too difficult for them. They busted a bolt and cut off the bottle cage. The bolt can no longer tighten to hold on to a water bottle cage. Now I can not mount two water bottles and the buyer on Ebay does not want my bike. I am out a sale, and now I can't even ride my bike with two water bottles. They offered no compensation, and only advised I go to another shop to have them repair it. Avoid this shop for repairs or maintenance. They are not competent and do not own up to their mistakes. There are too many bike shops in Prescott. Go elsewhere. read more

Great experience with Ironclad today. Zac installed a rear gear cluster and chain on my road bike while I waited, and he charged a very reasonable price. He was patient and helpful about answering my questions. My wife and I had been using another shop recommended to us since we got here a few years ago--from now on, we're bringing our bikes to Ironclad instead. read more

Prescott is full of serious mountain bikers, but my boyfriend and I just wanted to ride one of the rail trails. The guys at the shop understood and were fine with that. I read some other reviews that said the guys at the shop were snobby. We didn't experience that at all. Rented us a pair of nice mountain bikes and showed us where we could find some beautiful trails. The man who helped us also pointed out some nice hikes that we did the following day. I thought it was a little pricey, but this is a tourist area, so maybe it's in line with the area. I would go there again if I ever get back to Prescott. read more

I had researched a lot of different bikes and decided on a Specialized. Ironclad seems to be the only dealer in town and I was told by another mountain biker to buy from a bike shop, not a big store with a bike repair. Very happy with my new bike. Jeff the sales person was very nice and thoroughly showed me everything about it. Can't figure out why these bikes come with the hard seats. Had to purchase a gel seat cover and that solved the problem. Would recommend this shop to my friends. Friendly people work there. Happy with my purchase. read more

Great place to rent a mountain bike and try out the local trails. After reading other reviews and dealing with other bike shop "snobs" (doesn't every bike shop have at least one?) I expected to be brushed off as a tourist who doesn't deserve to ride Prescott's trails. I was pleasantly proved wrong when the two guys working (I did not catch their names) set me and my buddy up with two hard tails for a day of riding. The trail system around Prescott is pretty extensive so the guys asked me what kind of day we were looking for (easy, aggressive, all day, half day) and then laid out a route that would take us through some great riding, into town for lunch, and back to the bike shop before closing. Helmets, maps, and water bottles were offered as part of the rental. Rental price was fair IMO. Bikes were in excellent condition. Great customer service, great, bikes, good prices. If you're passing through Prescott and looking to try out their trails, Ironclad is the place to go. read more

I went into this bike shop on Saturday, Dec 20th 2014. I wheeled in my sons new"used" Kona coil-air supreme. I asked them if they had any rear shocks that would fit it. They said they would have to order it. I asked them what size and they said they would have to call it in. Asked if they could measure it for me and they said NO. They would have to call it it. They seemed bothered by my questions. They are rude and condescending. I had said to him that we got a good deal on the bike and that someone else to me what it was worth and the bike tech said"for that thing" ? That upset my son. I will NEVER go in there again. I went to High Gear Bike Shop in Prescott and they helped me. They are awesome. I was planning on buying another bike for myself. Needless to say, I did not buy from the unkind and unhelpful people at Ironclad.... read more

No personality at all, seemed bothered to stop what they were doing. Over charged for simple services. I wouldn't recommend them at all.

Staff was exceedingly unhelpful and uninformed. We were looking for a place to rent bicycles, and we visited a day in advance to ensure that they had sufficient numbers of bikes of the appropriate kind to take a ride out one some local trails. The staff was reticent, but indicated that there were lots of bikes and no need to reserve. They also suggested that the trails may be too muddy because of recent rains. We were concerned and hiked one of the trails and it looked great and saw lots of cyclists. Undeterred, we returned to rent bikes the next day, when a surly staff member told us that only the most expensive bicycles (twice the rate of the bikes we wanted) were available for rent. Further, he was not certain he'd be open on our return since business may be slow and he might like to close earlier than the 2:00 holiday closing time we'd been quoted. We asked why we were getting different stories on different days, and he told us that renting bicycles and serving us "was not a priority for me". Sheesh. Would have thought that they'd want a little business. I would not trust their judgment for any purchases. Lots of other great bike stores in the area that lack the attitude. read more
