We live in Southern California and are here just for a weekend get away but we will be joining their wine club to get that free shipping down to us. They did a great job taking care of me any my family at our last visit to Murphys. They adjusted my order on the spot.

We walked in wearing our masks (you know, COVID protocols) and we're greeted by a women who gleefully said "You don't need those face diapers in here". So, we responded that, we feel safe as we've had our shots. Her response was "Not only am I anti-mask, I'm anti-vaxx". Everything about this exchange made us feel uncomfortable. Why? We're coming to to relax, enjoy ourselves, taste and purchase some wines. We don't want to know about your ignorance of science or your political beliefs. I called several times to make a reservation and there was no answer, I then called Ghee and left a phone message as the website instructs, waited 2 days and no return call, I called again and finally a woman answered, there is no schedule on the website and I clearly stated that my reservation was for Monday she confirmed the reservation and instructed me to ask for Nicole when I arrived, upon our arrival found out the winery is closed on Monday. AVOID BLONDE OLD WHITE LADY BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY ... ESPECIALLY IF YOURE LATINO/A It was our first time wine tasting in Murphy's for the majority of our group and upon arriving to Villa we were racially profiled. Staff was trying to do everything not to seat our group even though 3 in our party are locals whom have been in contact with the location via text regarding our reservation. We were told there were no available seats but the taste room was completely empty and a large table was empty outside as well. After fighting to not seat our group, the woman working there reluctantly sat us outside and proceeded to bring our glasses. She placed the tasting menu down, brought us our glasses avoided eye contact , did not speak to us whenever asked a question about the wine and proceeded to tell us to read the tasting menu . She gave the smallest amounts possible for the tasting. It was a bit shocking as the outdoor decor was mexican sarapes . Upon paying my tasting fee, I tried to converse to see if we just caught her on a bad day but this woman avoided eye contact again said one word and gave me the amount due. the wine is great but not worth the staff making you feel you're unwelcome. I work at Stanford with a lot of nurses whom are in love with wine tasting rooms ... THIS WILL NOT BE ON MY REC LIST . read more

I have never been so entertained while wine tasting. Alex was wonderful and I learned a lot about complex wines. I could have sat there and sipped the wines while he told story after story in his faint southern accent for hours. Honestly, im sitting at the table disappointed, as I watch her pour triple the amount to the table next to us and engage with her two girl friends tho I'm here for my 35 birthday. The first time we visited we didn't buy any wine and the owner was a little weird about it. This was when they first opened and another wine pourer, at a different tasting room, told us they have the best wine so we decided to try it again. we went at 5:25p because Yelp said they closed at 6p. The lady at the counter told us we couldn't do a tasting because they closed in 20 minutes, and we weren't wine club members, but we could buy a glass. Don't know if I like your wine so no thanks. Truly as good as it gets. We purposely don't over-taste in Murphys (as one very easily could!) in order to really taste and concentrate on the unique varietals grown there. Villa Vallecito was the #1 stop of the day. Dan and Jessica and I were kindred spirits immediately. They took lots of time, going above and beyond to educate us on the varietals that grow well in their area, their winemaking techniques, all with a personable and friendly style. We bought some excellent wine and made two great new friends! We will definitely be back. read more

I will have to definitely echo Karen G.'s feelings about this place. It has been open for about 3 weeks now. Tasted 5 wines or maybe it was 6, who's counting. They have a white wine that is dy-no-mite and for me to say that it has to be good because I do not like white wine, so, bought a bottle along with 2 bottles of the smoothest, softest with no aftertaste reds I have ever had. Anyone out there that likes a superb red that goes down smooth then this is the place for you. The sad part is I didn't have enough money to buy a case of everything. This is a tasting room I will go back to many times from now on. And by the way, you can get it by the glass sit outside in their little patio area and watch people while sipping on some great wine. 5 Thumbs up here people. read more

Murphys' newest tasting room is now open! I had the opportunity to visit Villa Vallecito Vineyards this afternoon for the first time. The tasting room has been open for three weeks and will celebrate the official grand opening on Wednesday, 7/25/12. The tasting room attendant was very friendly and happily described each wine to all of the visitors. I can honestly say each wine was very tasty despite only being two years old. I am not a white wine fan generally, but I did quite like the viognier. It did not have the typical sharpness that white wines have to my palate. I also adored the Grenache. Such a smooth taste with a hint of a cake finish. Yum! I think I have another favorite winery to add to my list! Cheers! read more

I went in with 3 other people around 1:30PM today (Sunday.) The young woman behind the counter immediately began explaining that she only had 3 wines for us to taste but that she still had to charge full price for the tasting. She said they're only open 3 days/week so she wouldn't be opening any more bottles today. Um...what?!?!? Why bother opening a wine tasting room if you're not going to open bottles of wine? Your loss. We are a group of wine lovers and don't hesitate to purchase multiple bottles of whatever we like. read more

We had a very nice tasting experience at Villa Vallecito Tasting Room. We were a large group of 8, and though they were busy inside and out Ghee and Angel took great care of us. They have a nice seating area outside if you feet need a rest. The wines were all excellent with numerous award winners to choose from. We've walked by their tasting room dozens of times but never stopped, as there are just so many tasting rooms in Murphys (part of the reason we love it there). Got a recommendation to try them, so we did. They have all estate-grown wines, so they are very invested and passionate about their grapes and wine. read more

Wow! Horrible customer service!! We made the grave mistake of stopping here for a glass of wine and some chocolate at the end of a lovely Holiday in Downtown Murphy CA. The chocolate was bad. The stale date on it was June 2, 2019. When we brought this to the attention of the owner instead of apologizing for selling us food out of code she rudely insisted the chocolate was meant to be dry and crumbly and the date had no significance. Went for tasting for sangria. Wasn't in at the time. Still did tasting anyway. Wine was ok. A Lot of Barbers. 10 tasting. Per person. Kinda high end. My husband and I bought a bottle of payaso. They still charge the tasting fee . And the bottle was on the high end for Murphy's. I ask the host is this right. She said yes. Excellent wines here. Barbera and Syrah are amazing. Their wine maker has his own winery in town - Vina Moda. A perfect pairing.

We really enjoyed the wine and the outdoor seating. Dan was very attentive and gave us great service! The 2013 Barbera was exceptional.

One of the best wine tasting experiences I've ever had. They make several varietals I'd never tried before, and the staff are so knowledgeable about their wine making. We came across this amazing winery on a fantastic girls weekend. What a perfect way to end the day. Normally fond of Zinfandel's from Dry Creek Valley but thoroughly enjoyed discovering the flavorful wines. The Barbera and Syrah are my favorite!!!!
