These guys took my big dog, who hasn't seen a vet in I don't know how long, all his shots and a nail trim. Had to muzzle him, but the staff is awesome. That vet tech, she has full control of my 45 lb puppy. And after all that, the bill was extremely doable. Oh yeah, the vet was pretty great himself.
We live inside of the park and we enjoy this park so much! We go in the early morning hours before people overcrowd it. The splash pad is such a great experience for little and big kids. The playground itself could use some work, but all in all, it's very safe and good for all ages. They recently updated the tennis courts to brand new pickleball courts. The park has also added in a soccer court and new basketball courts. The park has restrooms that are relatively clean. Across the street you can find local restaurants and a local coffee shop! This makes for a great day at the park!
Iroquois park located off new cut road in the Iroquois area of Louisville Kentucky is a long time and tradition rich park. Home to many events at the famed Amphitheater, a big play ground, a large disc gold course, equestrian areas and even an archery area. I personally haven't been to this park in years and not as much as others. Oh surprisingly never have attended a show at the amphitheater before (they are surprisingly expensive usually) and have only been to the playground with the kids once or twice. I did play disc golf Here a few times about 15-20 years ago. Interesting and fun little game. Just not for me personally. Today after dining across the street at the nice and recently renovated colonial gardens. I took my daughters and two of there friends across the street to play at the playground. Very large playground that looks best renovated and has a splash park too. The kids all had fun. The only thing that keeps me coming here more often and from really enjoying this place is the clientele here is bad. They don't care or take care of the parks. For instance in the toddlers playground today was a broken glass bottle and two dirty diapers laying right under the playgrounds. South Enders in Lousiville have a bit of a rough and rowdy stereotype to them and a lot of those stereotypes are generated from the visitors at this park. It would be nice if the locals treated it with respect. But they don't unfortunately. Overall cool and massive park with some unique attractions and things tondo that you won't get at any other Louisville metro parks.
This is a great park to go to if you're hoping to strengthen your ankles! Lots of inclines that would surely make you huff and puff. It's a great place to train for a marathon. I came on a Wednesday close to 1 to meet a friend in order to check out the overlook. They had closed it for a while and reopened it again. Due to erosion, you can't use any of the trails that would get you up there in a jiffy. You've got to take the paved route. It took us about 30 minutes to walk up there. It's a good workout! We saw a few handful of people walking up there as well. Some folks looked like they were there for a power walk during their lunch break. We had trouble finding it at first. This park confuses me. The first time I came, a friend drove and we parked in the main lot for the Jack o Lantern Spectacular they do in October. There are lots of curves and you've really gotta slow down. Interestingly enough, some people actually live in the park. There are houses along some of the streets. And for some, the park is actually their backyard. Anyway, to get to the overlook, you gotta drive past the golf course (depending on which entrance you take). Keep going up and up the hill and there will be a tiny little lot. You can park there or on the curved part before the sign that says no parking. You can park behind that sign if the gate is closed and you can't drive closer to the overlook. Apparently, the gate is open during the warmer seasons and closed during colder months. It was pretty! I think it would've gone faster if we had bikes. Some folks on their bikes beat us to the place. Lol. The skyline looks far! But it's pretty to get a view of almost the whole city. It's worth it. This park is far from me. It's more than 30 minutes from my house so I don't see myself coming often. I've also heard that there's a lot of crime. A friend told me that it's not as safe as it used to be. Come during the day though. It's beautiful with all the foliage and such.
I love this park. I have done 5K walk/run here. This is where I come to get my cardio in, specially over the summer. This is also the place to come for some entertainment and grill if you like. Perfect place to walk your dog's, ride your horse, ride a bike, play tennis, basketball, Frisbee golf, shelters for family outings and the theater to name a few. The park is surrounded by beautiful nature and I have ran into a couple deers a couple times while jogging. Plenty of parking and plenty to enjoy with the family, including a little water park for the kiddos.
I love this park for several reasons. First off, no matter where you start on the loop - you are going to encounter multiple hilly parts. The bottom loop clocks in right around 3.1 miles. If you want more of a challenge, you can head up to the overlook. From the parking lot by the amphitheater to the overlook and back is a little over 5 miles. So no matter what kind of walk you are looking for, you are going to cover some good ground. The park for the most part is well maintained and clean. I enjoy meeting a friend here to walk when it's nice out. We always make sure we arrive during daylight as it can get a bit sketchy at night. I wouldn't walk here alone at all. I do like that there is plenty of activities. This park has a disc golf course, a golf course, horse stables, hiking, playgrounds, basketball courts and tennis courts. There is plenty for anyone in the family!
I love this park. It really does have a little bit of everything: an amphitheater, a playground, frisbee golf course, a lookout, and soooo much space. I like to walk/run for at least an hour or two, and this park works perfectly for me since it is very large. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the area that it's in; it's not the safest but I've never had a problem coming here. There's a few roads in between to drive around, but there's also a wide pedestrian lane so it feels pretty safe to walk. My favorite part about this park is the lookout at the very top. It's about 3 miles to walk there, and the view is beautiful... you can see over to Indiana and even the downtown skyline. Probably in my top 5 for Louisville parks!
The amphitheater at Iroquois Park located in West Louisville is a real treat. It has excellent acoustics and is well maintained by park personnel. Parking was a breeze with several parking attendants directing you where to go. We attended a Fall concert by the Louisville Orchestra featuring selections from several diverse genre. They are awesome! We arrived early and had excellent seats down front to the orchestra's right (I'd highly recommend these). It was a great evening featuring phenomenal music, cool autumn weather, an alcoholic beverage ($$$$) and two beautiful redheads at my side (yeah, I'm a lucky man).
Having grown up in south Louisville, I have fond childhood memories of Iroquois Park. We grew up riding horses on the horse paths, having picnics up at the top of the park, and going to shows at the Amphitheater. All these years later, the fondness lives on. Iroquois Park is one of the best. Some of my favorite park features: - The 3.2(ish) mile running path around the bottom. It's not flat by any means, but it's so pretty. And on warm summer days, the tree canopy keeps the path a couple of degrees cooler. - The outlook at the top of the park. It has been recently renovated and has sweeping views of the city, including the downtown skyline. - The Amphitheater has been updated in recent years and has some amazing concerts and shows, esp. during the summer. - The kids playground is well-kept and has ample space for kids to run, play, and get wet in the splash park elements. Whether you're looking to run, walk, play tennis, or just enjoy a nice day outside, Iroquois Park has it all.
This mountain park is BIG and still inside town limits and it's a LOT of walking to get to the top. Beautiful area, plenty of wildlife, trash cans periodically placed on the road and is wheelchair accessible all the way to the top. It'll be quite a workout regardless of how you get to the top. Some people cut straight up the side and ignore the paved trail, and if you take the circular trail, it'll take you an hour or so to reach the top of the mountain. At the top is a beautiful overlook of Louisville even at night and it's quiet up there, plenty of parking, water grates here and there to prevent flooding, and multiple ways to get in and out of the park area. I've seen lots of deer here and the park is animal friendly with plenty of space for social distancing. I just wish there were bathrooms.
One of the many parks in Louisville that was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted. Iroquois Park is as good as it gets. The other two large parks designed by Olmsted being Shawnee and Cherokee. Iroquois Park *has* everything that you could want out of a park. Some of the things just aren't as nice as what you'd find at other parks, but it's there. For example, the basketball court is small - there is only one court. The tennis courts are cracked and have some weeds coming up through the cracks. Those are probably the only two real examples I can give. Iroquois has a good golf course, as far as municipal courses are concerned. It's a worthy course. As well, Iroquois is turbo large and good for a bike ride or a run. It's a solid challenge for people that are looking to gain endurance, as Iroquois has many hills. Iroquois is usually apart of the Derby City Marathon, so the runners get a good test of endurance and running on hills. Where Iroquois Park excels... * They have a disc golf course. One of only two or three in the whole city. It's well taken care of and challenging to a disc golfer. The first 8 holes are "open." Holes 9 through 16 are in the woods and will challenge your accuracy. Holes 17 and 18 coming back out to the opening. A fun course. Really enjoyable. * The Iroquois Amphitheater is a solid concert venue. They usually have bands/singers that are either up and comers, or past their prime. But definitely people you've heard of. A friend of mine went there a couple years back to see REO Speedwagon. Kinda cool. * The top of Iroquois Park offers a really great view of the city. It's beautiful. Certainly worth driving up to the top and having a look. Overall, Iroquois Park offers anything and everything that you could want. You get the sense that it doesn't get as much investment, because it isn't in an area with a median income as high as say the location of Cherokee Park, which is a shame... but if it's a nice, big park you want, Iroquois Park is your place.
Trails, horses, frisbee golf, playgrounds, tennis courts, picnic areas and the awesome Amphitheater! This park is full of win! I went to the park yesterday to see the free movie at the Amphitheater (Monday night series in the summer). I decided to get there early and kill two birds with one stone and get my work out in. Rundill, the road that basically circles the park, is a 3.25 mile loop with a designated walker/runner/biker lane. There are also other trails to utilize, and the option of going to the top of the hill/park to the overlook. I got in 5 miles, all of which seemed to feel like I was going uphill (Iroquois is a big change to walk in after getting used to Cherokee). But, like all the other Olmsted parks, it is beautiful. A deer even walked out of the woods right in front of us during our walk!
Want to find a park that has a paved walking trail, tennis courts, basketball and a playground and splash area. Iroquois park is the spot to be at, they have a decent amount of parking, definitely could use some more. We walked from the main entrance parking lot to the North overlook at back distance was able 4.30 miles we did do some extra walking around another area on our way back down. But a beautiful trail with decent amount of trees for some shade. There is some parking available closer to the trail however is was definitely full lot by the time I arrived. There is a golf course as well. Definitely a well cherished park as we saw a lot of hikers, bikers, running, the courts were full and the playgrounds were busy and just people enjoying the views and wonderful weather. read more

This is the largest public park in Louisville and it's one of 17 Frederick Law Olmsted parks in the city. Once a month they open up the road to the North Lookout on the weekends to motorists. On a beautiful fall day like today the journey up the road and the vast view of the city and surrounding area is breathtaking. This park also holds the Iroquois Amphitheater in which many high profile artists have performed here. Also each October the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular takes place where you can see 5,000 intricately carved pumpkins that draws huge crowds and many from out of state. read more

We live close within walking distance to this park. The walk is always pleasant and breezy. The park is well kept and clean. There is a nice water play area for the little ones. read more

Great place to walk, run, watch a show at the amphitheater, frisbee golf, play ball, and take the kids to the playground and water sprayers in the summer. This park is relaxing and vibrant with lots of people from various cultures. A great time for the whole family. read more
Iroquois Park is a dream for any fitness enthusiast! Walkers, runners, cyclists, and many more will appreciate the hills! There are also tennis and basketball courts and an archery range. There's a disc golf course too. Plenty of tables and spaces to gather too. Plus a nice playground and splash park for kids. The view from the top is truly amazing! I have visited this park my entire life. Unfortunately, I don't recommend going at non-peak times. It can get a little sketchy. read more
This park is so big! They have lots of trails for jogging and running, and even some trails that are hidden that will take you to the very top for an amazing view of the city. The main trail is an incline so it's great to practice those uphill jogs. They have a huge recreational area for walking your dogs as well. There's a spacious playground with water fountains. I like how there's a playground for smaller children and one for older kids. There's ample parking as well, if the lot gets full you can park along the road. They have multiple shelters for parties and lots of picnic tables as well. You can bring your own grill to BBQ. I haven't been here for a concert but I hear the amphitheater is open and huge. My complaint is that the playground and park can be filthy. I hate that there are cigarette butts all over the playground, it's disgusting and should not be around children. I know the city is doing their best, but the people there can be more mindful. read more
Being admittedly biased after growing up going to this park and still it being my most (and almost only) frequented park, this is my favorite park in Louisville. Iroquois Park is located in South Louisville and home to many so many things. If you like to walk, run, or bike, there is a great loop around the bottom of the park. Beware: It is hilly! However, it's a great workout (probably my favorite). There is disc golf, a great playground (entirely redone not too terribly long ago) with some water features for splish-splashin'. There are basketball and tennis courts. LMPD has stables in the back (when I was growing up, it wasn't just LMPD, and whoever it was offered horseback riding). There are hiking trails to the top of the park, where there is a north lookout and south lookout. There is a pavillion for cookouts (which you can rent/reserve), along with other picnic tables. There is also Iroquois Amphitheater, which features many shows, concerts, movies, etc. The north is currently undergoing a way overdue renovation--I would probably dock a star if this wasn't currently happening. When it reopens in summer 2016, it will again offer a great view of our city. (The south overlook isn't too exciting.) There are also facilities--like basketball courts and a smaller playground--at the top of the park. To access to the top, you'll need be on foot (or bike), aside from when it's, "open to motorists from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays from April through October." (I took that from their website.) Iroquois Park hosts numerous special events throughout the year: the Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular, walks, runs (Kentucky Derby Marathon runners even run through!), concerts, shows, festivals, and many more. Being in one of the most diverse areas of town, it also hosts a diverse number of visitors doing various things when visiting--which I love. You never know what you'll encounter here, but it'll likely be a good time... aside from those hills. ;) read more

I came here during the Jack-o'-lantern spectacular and had a great time. There are many carved pumpkins from the floor to the trees. You can easily lose track of time taking in all the beauty created by talented artists. My sister and I spent over an hour here taking pictures and enjoying the various themes that were grouped together along the trail. Although the line is incredibly long, and there is a long wait time, it's worth it because they let people in by groups to avoid congestion and chaos. I recommend getting there at least two hours before the gate opens so you can find a parking spot that's convenient for exiting. read more

Went here for concert in the amphitheater and went for walk before just to check out the park. Their main walking trail is great. There is a designated walking/biking/running lane so you have room to walk without having to worry too much about cars. Then was the concert in the amphitheater. This was a great outdoor venue. I don't there is a bad seat in that place. I was there to see the Louisville Orchestra and the acoustics were fantastic as well. I look forward to exploring more of this park more! read more

I'm partial to Iroquois Park because I live across the street. I like convenience. The playground is a great place for kids and it seems there are lots of festivals in the park throughout the year. The amphitheater is great and we love that we can hear whoever is playing from our house. My biggest concern with the park is that it could be cleaner. Considering that the park is an extension of Taylor Boulevard, it isn't the safest after dark and are kids here all day long & well into the night. Since our primary reason for going to the park is to walk our dogs, we are careful of certain areas. There always seems to be an abundance of broken glass on the playground side, so we try to stay on the frisbee golf end of the park - there seems to be less glass, trash & discarded food down that way. And we get to watch the less athletic folk awkwardly play frisbee golf. read more

It's all a matter of perspective but regardless of whether this park was designed by the same guy as Cherokee Park, it doesn't come close to being its equal. If you are looking for concerts or horseback riding, by all means pay this place a visit but as for the rest... For both walking and bicycling this park hardly provides a convenient layout. Again compared to Cherokee Park it's downright painful to navigate. As far as the lookout goes, well it isn't open daily. Besides it is otherwise heavily overgrown. If they were to clear some brush and a tree or two then maybe you could actually "Lookout" at something. As is, you can't really see anything scenic or interesting. Personally I'm a people watcher and a bit of a cruiser... this park doesn't lend to my enjoyment in those regards either. Frankly after seeing it, I don't have a reason to go back. read more
