I don't really write Yelp reviews often, but I feel I need to share my point of view for my son's first year at this school. I don't want to see teachers' hard work and devotion to be erased by all these negative reviews. This new school does not have a lot of resources like Irvine Unified School District. The facilities at the campus are out of date and the campus is leased from IUSD. The faculty has been trying hard to maintain the school facilities, but it is very challenging. - 2 of 5 star I have been volunteering at my son's classes in the past two semesters, and both English and Mandarin teachers from the 2nd Grade are very passionate about teaching and helping our children. I have heard a similar compliment for all other teachers at different grades. The school only has one PE teacher, who is working hard and carrying a lot of responsibilities for all the kids at school- 4 of 5 star The communication channels between teachers and parents are very clear. Teachers will quickly respond and answer questions or concerns from the parents. - 5 of 5 star Before enrolling at IIA last year, my son has no knowledge about Chinese handwriting. As now, at the end of his 2nd semester, he can do both reading and writing more than 117 Chinese characters. For reference, attached are words he has learned so far. - 5 of 5 star Some parents have questions about the on-site after-school program. From my observation in the past two semesters, my son was able to complete his homework at school, attending enrichment class for music and art, and playing with his friends after school. My son always asked me to pick him up last so that he can spend more time at school. - 4 of 5 star To sum up, my wife and I feel very fortunate that our son has this opportunity to learn both English and Mandarin at the same time without sacrificing our weekend attending Chinese school. Everyday when we dropped our son to school, he always rolls his backpack with lightening speed and runs to the teacher. We can tell our son really enjoys his first year at IIA. This is a tuition free charter school, not a 5 star Private school. This school requires a lot of parents to involve and help. This is a new school starting with a bumpy start. We all hope one day the school board and parents can come to an agreement one day so the teachers/students in between will not be sacrificed.

As I signed up for American Culture & Conversation and TOEFL, my teachers, especially teacher William, have been very helpful in my language/culture learning. Although I have been in the USA for about 6 years, I didn't learn as much about the American cultures and history as much as I have in the classes over the 3 month courses. We talk about different topics (holidays, history, politics, etc) and do practice TOEFL exams in class. The teachers are thorough, encouraging, and always think for the success of the students. One thing that is worth noting though is the efficiency of the office. I sometimes get last minute notice regarding class time change or request. Other than that, AOI is a fun and efficient place with great people and teachers. I wish we can go back to in person class when everything is safe.

How privileged we are to be able to learn about Korean culture by highly qualified Korean…read moreinstructors from Korea sponsored by King Sejong Institute and the South Korean government -- and additional sponsor, Nongshim. Today I learned about the history, style, lore, importance of the beoseon. I had no idea! After the lesson (lectured in Korean and English), we had the opportunity to practice writing Korean on our beoseon with our black calligraphy pens and cutting out the shape of the beoseon. We then transitioned to sewing our beoseon pattern pouch. I learned that the pouch is significant because it stores the pattern from which your beoseons are made. For example, in olden days, part of a bride's preparation was to make 100 beoseons and bring them to her new family's home. Typically, she would gift each adult in that household 10 beoseons each. Today's experience made me once again appreciate my Korean heritage and fanned a desire in me to learn more. I look forward to more education and making of memories at this fine institution and program. (Note, I was ambitious today. I took back to back classes. The 2nd class was about the ear-shaped pouch. It is a simple but elegant, traditional, and practical pouch to carry money, ID, tobacco, etc.). Two thumbs way up for both classes today. The lecturer was top notch and passionate about her topic, and the staff on site were all welcoming and helpful. I hope to experience more with this group! #2025SejongCultureAcademy #KingSejongInstituteFoundation #KoreanCulture

This was so bittersweet, as we all wished that she could stay longer (as long as possible) in Marco Polo! We didn't want to leave! We were a part of such a tight-knit, warm, supportive, and welcoming community - the teachers, fellow parents, all the students - that I truly believe that the bond forged and positive effects gleaned (both academic and non-academic) will last well into the future. We felt that the Reggio Emilia approach worked so well in helping kids of different character traits and temperaments grow according to their own pace and strengths. We loved all the teachers that have taught our daughter, as well as others we saw every single day in their various supporting roles (admin, front desk, meal times, science, subs, etc). It took a village, and boy was that village awesome. We could feel that the teachers (and everyone else) working there truly were there because they loved kids, and they loved helping kids thrive. The Preschool and Pre-K programs were particularly notable and instrumental in their roles in helping our daughter get more than ready for her kindergarten year (and beyond). Under the relatively new leadership of Ms. Kimberly, I saw notable improvements in terms of the variety of interesting new subjects, activities, and a stronger sense of direction, leadership, and community. We can't possibly thank Marco Polo enough for helping shape our daughter, for encouraging and loving her, and for supporting us throughout. Ms Amy, Ms Venus, Mr Erick, Ms Paris, Ms Fatemeh, Ms Destinee, Ms Kimberly, Ms Jing, Ms Caitlin, Mr Ruben, Ms Lisa, Ms Janet, and everyone else - you truly made Marco Polo such a wonderful journey for us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

We have three children, ages 5, 8, and 9. My wife knows a little Italian and I can get by (barely)…read morein Spanish, so we know the value knowing a foreign language. We both learned in college, which was tough and unnatural. We knew it was easier to learn as a youth, so a few years ago we started looking for a quality long-term program for Spanish for our kids. After quite a bit of homework to find a dedicated, long-term program, we came across Langokids. In January of 2025 we enrolled all our kids in the entry level classes (they offer various levels and ages throughout the week). Our kids, surprisingly, really enjoyed it. Here's why: LangoKids is designed to make the kids WANT to learn the language. They play games, sing songs, give awards, and just all around "hide" the learning in play. So far, our kids have taken a class per week from January 2025 through the present, excluding summers. Last summer they took two weeks of summer camp (and 5 weeks of other various camps). At the end of the summer they said Lango Kids was their favorite camp of the summer. Now that they have a solid foundation, we went all-in and enrolled them in 8 weeks of summer camp thus year. Tomorrow's the last day of week three and wow! Things have started to "click." They understand full phrases, understand grammar and sentence structure, and have flawless accents. It is AMAZING! Are they fluent? Of course not. But are they making excellent and steady progress? Yes, absolutely they are. Is learning completely a foreign language easy? No, it's very hard. But, Lango Kids has a system that works. We figured the weekly classes built a foundation but the magic happens a in summer camp (bc it's full immersion, 9:00-3:00 every day) and later in the year the classes will be maintenance until next summer. Ok, what are the downsides? It's hard work. Do not expect it to happen over night. It takes commitment from you for the long haul. We've been going for 18 months, every week plus we are on our 5th week of summer camp. But, we are really starting to see major progress now. There is a bit of homework during the school year. Mostly it's fun worksheets and reviewing vocabulary. Nothing hard though. And helps keep the progress moving forward (especially for a family like ours that is English only at home). The teachers are great, but they are teachers. Your child will be expected to behave and participate. This is a professional program, not a city thing run by high school kids. We love it bc the teachers keep the students on task and learning. Is it as cheap as some city run program where they learn a few phrases? Of course not. This is a high quality, foreign language education program designed specifically for young children. In my opinion, if you understand what you are investing in (a richer life for your child full of wonderful opportunities), it is absolutely money very well spent. Lastly, Ms. Christina, the director, is simply a quality person. She takes the job very seriously, is an excellent administrator, and hires excellent, kind, and effective teachers. We are very pleased and highly recommended Langokids Irvine looking to give their children the gift of knowing Spanish.

We've had such a positive experience that we're enrolling our daughter this year for the same reason as she transitions to an English-speaking school. I also highly recommend their summer camps! They're a great way to keep kids engaged with Spanish and help bridge the gap during school breaks so they don't lose momentum over the summer.
