A very large practice. I haven't been a patient long enough to have a personal experience with the same people that work there. Care has been good, no complaints there. I had a billing issue in 2025 and left emails and phone calls that were never answered or returned calls. In January the office was going to bill what should have been my primary insurance and reimburse the insurance that paid as prime. There was a possibility I had overpaid. As of July I haven't received any new eobs from insurances and no follow up. Feel like this is the result of wanting lots and lots of patients but no time for individual concern, Not sure if they are lying about contacting the VA for my husband or if the break down is from Community Care. Dr Irwin accepts VA patients and payments but the whole process of getting approval is up to my husband. It seems when we call the office they are ready to help then months go by with no contact. He finally has some sort of appointment in December 2026, it's now July 2026 and the last time he got care was October 2025. We are stuck with either finding another practice or just being a number in this large practice. read more

I haven't been their patient yet. My molar crown fell off Sunday evening, and I paniked. I called their office and left a message. Monday morning got a call from Amber, she was absolutely delightful and directed me to the web page to do some paperwork. She said she will take it personally upstairs to be processed in order to get me in. I had an appointment 2 pm that day, wow. I met the staff and Dr. Irwin came in and introduced himself. Listen folks, he's the nicest dentist I've ever known. He joked with me, "So, I hard you're a big baby" because prior to meeting him I told his assistance I had sensitive teeth; funny guy. Irwin said they could easily save my tooth and all I needed was a crown for much less cost plus I get to save my molar! Having served in the military for 20+ years, I've been both stationed in a number of states and seen quite a few dentists. While serving dental care was readily available. However after retirement it is no longer available. I'm a 100% disabled veteran so I am qualified for dental coverage. However all dental care has to be pre-approved through the VA. Unfortunately there are only a handful of Dental Facilities that accept VA. It's probably a difficult process to get set up for VA care and because of the limited amount that dentists are allowed to charge for many sadly don't want any part of it. Service to the country, to THEM, only goes one way. Well Irwin Dental is one of those Dental Facilities that accept VA patients. They are by far one of the most proficient dental facilities I've been to. Their office is beautiful with hot coffee waiting at the entrance while you wait to be seen. The staff provides outstanding professional and courteous service treating each patient as their ONLY patient and not just another number. They provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere for those who aren't too comfortable having to visit the dentist. The care and treatment provided is second to none and as I said earlier, I've visited a few. They ensure you're comfortable and take the time out to cover everything your treatment will entail and go over all your future treatments answering every question you may have. I'm not reviewing them only because they accept VA, I've seen them check in patients who are non-affiliated with the service and they too receive the outstanding professional courteous service that I do. If you're new to the area and looking for new dental care or are considering changing to a new dental care provider, I'd HIGHLY recommend and I'm sure all their patients both feel the same way and would support this review. read more

I had a suddenly problem with what turned out to be a crack in a tooth on a Friday; and very time I had to took one of my myriad of my oral medications with liquids, my jaws were extremely painful. I called Irwin Dental Center. I received a Monday appointment; Dr. Orme & his assisant found the problem by X-ray, and arranged an appoint an Endodontics specialist who see me and see if a root canal would solve canal procedure. They have always have always been honest, kind, and never condescending. read more

My first Peninsula dentist was Dr. Lonnie Riggs--27 years ago. I stayed with him as his practice merged with Dr. Irwin, and Dr. Irwin continued my care after Dr. Riggs retired. When necessary, he's replaced fillings, performed root canals, installed crowns--always with excellence. And Twyla has been excellent, and fun (!), doing my 6-month cleanings. My late wife was also a very satisfied client. After a COVID-induced delay, I returned this week for my usual check-up. As an older adult with 2 pre-existing conditions, I was quite pleased at the thorough and effective hygiene measures taken to ensure that my visit would be COVID free. I have been seeing Dr. Irwin for over 15 years. His practice has grown but the care remains exemplary. I've had three crowns over the years and Dr, Irwin did an excellent job. You can't even tell, unlike my previous crown. My kids have been seeing pediatric dentists up to this point but at age 10 and 13 we decided to move them to Irwin's office. Without prompting, my older son stated "Well, that was a lot better!" My sons felt like the staff were respectful and didn't talk down to them. They truly appreciated the clear communication and liked being treated as valued patients, not dumb little kids. I have recommended this clinic to several colleagues and have never heard a complaint. This dentist was an awful awful experience. I had braces put on and my teeth were PERFECT before visiting this dentist. I have a permanent retainer for my bottom teeth and my retainer had two metal things sticking out in the front for the rubber bands. My orthodontist was going to grind them down. Unfortunately, he passed away and was unable to do so. While visiting Irwin dental for a cleaning and other work- I had asked if they could grind them down. They said they wanted to remove and replace. Hesitantly, I agreed. I let them no my concerns and I was told not to worry and that it would be put back on immediately within one week and my teeth would not move in that week. They were correct- they didn't in that week. However, it took them 3 months to put the new one back on. In which my bottom teeth had now shifted. I personally talked to Mr. Todd Irwin about this and he said he was going to look into it and figure it out and get back to me. He never got back ahold of me. Since then I have called the office and sent him a certified letter. Still no response. So, he is clearly dodging me. I am wanting help straightening my teeth again as they are the ones who didn't follow through and ruined my straight teeth. I am asking them to help fix their mistake- I wasn't rude or confrontational when confronting. I just wanted their mistake fixed. It is going to cost me $5,000.00 to fix their mistake. I then found out that the work they did and messed up on was not covered by insurance and was coded differently to cover it. Fraud? Not sure. read more

Great dentist! In a couple of VERY affordable appointments, they took x-rays, examined my teeth, cleaned my teeth, and installed a new filling in a cavity. Dr. Irwin was professional, polite, and explained everything to help put me at ease. If you don't have dental insurance, check out their IDC program for pretty amazing money savings.
