I am a contact lens wearer. I do not take out my contacts or change them as much as I should. I was upfront and honest about this. The doctor could not have been more rude and unprofessional. She was demeaning and cold. Started our visit off on "We are going to start off on the wrong foot." A better approach would have maybe been saying "Hello my name is Dr. Hanley". She came in told my 4 year old child to "go sit on a chair". Then condesendingly told me what contact lens wearers "know". "Contact lens wearers know they need their eyes examined every year". "Contact lens wearers know to change 30 day contacts every 30 days". "Contact lens wearers know to take the contacts out at night". I could go on but that is the gist. I have never met this lady. You think for one minute I was going to have an open mind and heed anything she said after being so condescending? She knew she did it but could not control her unprofessionalism by continually saying "let's start over". I said I was uncomfortable and walked out. Never would step foot in that office or recommend to anyone. The other staff was lovely, kind and professional. For the doctor, horrendous. I wish I could give negative stars. read more

Wasn't at all pleased with Dr.Hanley. I went for new contacts. She refused to give me a new script for them because I have cataracts, which I already knew. I have had them for years, but have never been refused a new script. I coudnt get the appt with the opthalmalalogist for 3 months, and then I had to cancel it because of snow, So I have to wait till March now with no contacts. Not at all pleased!!! read more

My husband and I have been going to Irwin Eye Care for about four years. Dr. Hanley and Dr. Bressler and are very friendly, patient, and thorough. Most of the staff are also helpful and friendly. Hours are convenient for the most part. They are closed on Wednesdays and Sundays but are in late - til 7pm - on Mondays and Thursdays. They also have Saturday hours. We have rarely had an issue with scheduling. My husband and I both wear glasses. He wears glasses all of the time and doesn't like contacts. I only wear glasses for distance - driving, watching tv, etc. so I cannot comment on their contacts, although I did have a friend tell me that she and her husband both had issues with contacts from here. They have a decent sized selection of glasses and our insurance allows us a new pair every other year up to $140. Anything over that, we pay for out of pocket. A few years ago, Dr. Hanley discovered that my husband had a retinal tear and sent him to a specialist for a closer examination. He has worn glasses for years and this was the first time that anyone had noticed the tear. At this point, he has to see a specialist every few years, just to ensure that they tear hasn't gotten worse or detaches completely. If you live in or around the Irwin area and are not satisfied with your current eye doctor, I would highly recommend them. read more

Would give them a 0 if I could. I arrived 10 minutes late for my 12:30 appointment and was told by the front desk " I just left you a message to reschedule your appointment". I replied I thought my appointment was at 12:45pm and i turned down the wrong street everything is one way here". again a curt reply from front desk attendant "We don't schedule appointments at 12:45pm its on the half hour. " Give me your insurance card we'll have to see if the doctor will see you. " I said, Ok and I handed her my card. So you puts my chart in file folder on top of the counter and exchanges some words with tech who comes out the side office and motions at me to come on but I don't know if the doctor will even see you.. I told her I don't need attitude from you as I had already gotten enough from the front desk attendant. So im standing there looking at a COMPLETELY EMPTY waiting room and just told her "I guess I have to find another doctor then"and walked out. Last year when I was there I remember waiting WAY more than TEN minutes to see this doctor and when she walked in I wasn't rude or chastising her for making me wait. Very pricey even with insurance. Wanted to charge me $41 for the fitting and follow up of contact lenses. Never heard of such a thing. Only had morning hours for this. Very unhappy. Wouldn't Even give me my contact script. read more
