Then, go to 390 Commercial Street, drive to the immediate left of Beck's Diner, onto Hobsons Wharf. Look for door # 5 on the right and park anywhere you like. Go in #5 and turn into the main shop immediately to your right. If you have done your above assignment you'll know what you want to order. (Anthony Bourdain's favorite seafood was sea urchin or uni.) I ordered the tray of uni and the shashimi select as Elizabeth suggests. ( She is spot on). I also ordered a tray of sweet shrimp; my palate need some soy sauce to help with that. I had never had sea urchin before. I will order it again next time, and the salmon roe. This for me was an exquisite lunch. It cost $58 - in a Paris bistro, it would easily be ten times that, and not as fresh. Enjoy!

Usually I'd walk, but I came straight from work so I parked here. It's awesome that they even have free parking unlike many places in Portland. You walk in through door 5, turn right before the stairs. It's no frills. You can order different types of fish, or the sashimi set, plus a couple of add-ons to make your own "sushi." Once you pay, head upstairs to the staff cafeteria (third door on the right). You can use their microwaves to heat up your rice, grab sauces, rice seasonings, etc. There are some bench tables to sit at and enjoy. I am so glad I got to experience this-it was delicious! That being said, I would probably just buy my fish here and take it home next time to roll up my sushi and make it more beautiful. If you are expecting a restaurant with sushi offerings like Yosaku, do NOT be mistaken. This is a fish trading business that happens to sell some DIY lunch items. Still delicious, just come in with the expectation that they are selling and packaging fish, it smells fishy, it is a workplace.

I usually buy my lobster from Bailey's but was going to Portland anyway so since the lobster meat…read morewas $30lb as opposed to $40lb I thought I'd try Portland Lobster Pound. The place looked clean and the guy was nice enought but the lobster was slimy and smelled bad. I knew better but we ate some and we got very sick. I called him to let him know that he should check his stock and he kept repeating "There's nothing I can do" like he'd heard this issue time and time again. I wasn't asking for $ just for him to check his stock. So... I strongly suggest spending a bit more and going elsewhere.

ON CHRISTMAS EVE I even told him i will pay the price and to ship it he ignored that too now someone is out there not getting there special gift for CHRISTMAS because this ignorant owner doesn't have the decency to give an accurate quote and even then to hang up and not ship the order its just wrong. Don't ever go here you will be but through the ringer and you will but left starving....

Service was a bit slow but I think that they were a little short staffed even though they werent that busy. Staff and owners were friendly and gave us some good recommendations for some local dive bars to try out in the Portland area. Food was fresh and very good. This is a local's place and not touristy at all. I was pleasant to sit outside and just pig out on some good seafood.

My friends and I wanted lobster rolls for our last meal in Portland and Docks did not disappoint! The service was a bit slow. Our server told us the bar was backed up so it took awhile to get drinks. The staff was constantly moving but it took a little while to get our appetizers and meals. The oyster appetizer was delicious! Nice and fresh. A vinaigrette-type sauce came with the dish but it could have really used some hot sauce. We liked that the oysters were separated from the shell. It made it easier to slurp the oysters. The homerun for us was the lobster roll. SO DELICIOUS! We all ordered it with butter. Two of us got it with coleslaw and two of us got it with homemade potato chips. Both were delicious but I was partial to the chips. The roll was lightly toasted and full of lobster. It was the perfect size and so enjoyable. One of our friends loved it so much that he ordered one to-go to eat later in the evening. :) Docks is only open until 8pm and the parking lot was constantly full. Lots of people were coming in so that speaks to the popularity of the place. We decided we are putting Docks in rotation of favorite places. Highly recommend a visit.

They're all reasonably expensive - after all, they're shipping live lobster, clams and other things directly to you. You can't really judge them on price - but you can judge on quality. THis is the best of the bunch. THey will ship lobsters, crab claws, clams, mussels, shrimp and other locally-caught seafood directly from their shop (right across from the dock on the Portland waterfront) to you. The lobsters always arrive alive and healthy and clean, 24 hours and sometimes less from when they were caught. For under $200 you can have 4 1-person-sized lobsters and a pound each of mussels and clams and crab claws, as well as bibs, shell-crackers, wetnaps and a picture of the fisherman who caught your lobster with a personal note and a map where he shows exactly where and when yours was caught. In fact, lately, they've sometimes offered this as part of a groupon for under $150, which is a fantastic deal (it includes overnight shipping). We got the 4-lobster and misc. shellfish selection as a 10-yr anniversary gift from my parents and it was one of the best gifts we've ever received - we enjoyed it with 2 friends and everyone had a fantastic time. I will absolutely use Catch a Piece of Maine again in the future.
