Service was a bit slow but I think that they were a little short staffed even though they werent that busy. If you want a great lobster roll (with butter) and oysters, we highly recommend Docks Seafood. It's a small place but there is outdoor seating. My friends and I wanted lobster rolls for our last meal in Portland and Docks did not disappoint! The service was a bit slow. Our server told us the bar was backed up so it took awhile to get drinks. The staff was constantly moving but it took a little while to get our appetizers and meals. The oyster appetizer was delicious! Nice and fresh. A vinaigrette-type sauce came with the dish but it could have really used some hot sauce. We liked that the oysters were separated from the shell. It made it easier to slurp the oysters. The homerun for us was the lobster roll. SO DELICIOUS! We all ordered it with butter. Two of us got it with coleslaw and two of us got it with homemade potato chips. Both were delicious but I was partial to the chips. The roll was lightly toasted and full of lobster. It was the perfect size and so enjoyable. One of our friends loved it so much that he ordered one to-go to eat later in the evening. :) Docks is only open until 8pm and the parking lot was constantly full. I had read on a gf site that Docks had perfected its coating on the fried food and its gf so I had to try it. Boy, am I happy I did. My husband had the haddock bites which he said were not greasy at all and he would never know it was gf. I had a pint of fried clams. I was really wanting to try the fried chicken as well, so I ordered the kids plate which came with salt and vinegar fries. I was so happy, I thought I was going to cry. I have not had my favorite fried foods in years and this tasted as delicious as I remembered. To top it off they also had Orange Bike Brewing gf beer. We got some takeout on the Friday during Independence Day weekend. Food was ready in 20 minutes on a very busy day. Wanted something reasonable priced as Susan's (RIP) used to be our fish spot. We've eaten here before, this was the first takeaway. The food was fine, slightly above average. The Haddock sandwich no longer has fries as a side choice. We got one with coleslaw and one which chips (which wasn't in the bag). The buns were nicely grilled. The fish tacos are a good pick if you want something different from traditional New England seafood, pretty decent as well. Second time at Dock's, came in at 3 p.m. and it wasn't busy. We had the seafood chowder to start, and it was delicious with the perfect amount of seafood, thin broth, and quite filling even though the bowl seemed small. BF had the blackened haddock tacos; this was one of the best tacos. Well-executed and the flavors are unique and addictive. Then I had the 8oz fried whole belly clams, market price $40. See Pic. This was perfectly fried and satisfying; however, the price is just a bit much and the portions are good for me, kinda small. I've had a pint of the same clams in mid-coast Maine for $26. This serving wasn't huge, so just be mindful when ordering as it's just clams, nothing else for the price. Service was good, friendly, and fast. And if you're in midcoast Maine, try Cameron's Lobster House in Brunswick or Boothbay Lobster Wharf, as the pint of clams are less than $30. read more

Morgan is an absolute gem. We were a table of seven gals celebrating my friend's birthday, which I'm sure is not always the easiest table to keep up with, and he was absolutely amazing. He was genuine, personable, funny, and just had the best vibes. He gave us great recommendations, and somehow made us feel like we were just hanging out with someone we already knew while still giving incredible service. Our entire table loved him. And it wasn't just Morgan -- everyone at Docks was so sweet and genuine. All the other staff were so warm and welcoming. Art on the wall was done from the bartender's photography. Truly a wonderful atmosphere. The small bar manages to feature a variety of local beers to try, from light to dark, so I warmed myself with a delicious oatmeal stout on this frigid New Year evening. After some waffling, I went with my comfort foods: poutine and lobster roll. While we waited for the appetizers, I spied on other tables' fish and chips and fried shrimp - huge portions both. Promising. Poutine was excellent disco fries. Cheese too melty, gravy too light for Quebecois, but who am I to judge? Delicious gravy for sure. My friend loved his haddock Reuben, with the fish taking up the entire sandwich. Sandwiches aren't the biggest compared to the dinner plates, which doesn't surprise me and is why I ordered the poutine. But very tasty. We asked the server what that was for and she said since the kitchen workers really work hard that was to help them out. What?!?!? I asked her why this wasn't disclosed earlier. My friends and I tried this place in Portland a few weeks ago. The place was half market/half restaurant. It was a little bit of a wait but we were seated within 5 minutes. We tried the grilled swordfish, fisherman's platter, and haddock rueben. The fisherman's platter was a great deal. With the platter, the restaurant allowed you to choose from four types of seafood for $29: clam cakes, clam strips, haddock nuggets, whole belly clams, scallops, shrimp, oysters, and calamari. We got the whole belly clams, scallops and oysters(double), and all were crispy and delicious. The fries were also good as well. They were crispy outside but soft inside. The haddock reuben was also superb. The sandwich consisted of fried haddock with swiss cheese, cole slaw, and thousand island dressing on toasted rye bread. It was so good! The grilled swordfish came with a baked potato. Although I didn't try it, my friends said it was delicious. Kids under 12 also ate for free on Saturdays and Sundays from the Value Meal list of entrees. Service was very friendly and attentive. This is a must visit if you are ever around Portland! read more

They were generous with the clams, however the scallops I got 3 pieces, and 6 total haddock nuggets. And the fish was not fresh. A few tasted off to be honest. My scallops were not drained well as they were sitting in a tiny pool of oil with no where to go because they use parchment for a liner. And they were very skimpy on the tartar sauce. We ordered the swordfish risotto that was the recent special and for 30$ I have to say it was a disappointment. The rice was undercooked and the corn in the risotto was an interesting combination. I drive by Docks twice a week or more on my way to swim class. Ive often thought about going in but was always heading somewhere else. Last Saturday I ran into a friend that told me Docks was her all time favorite restaurant, so, my husband and I headed there tonight for dinner. I took my Aunt there for her 85Th birthday. It was so could inside. The food and us cooled off immediately. It was extremely hard to hear in there. We couldn't even carry on a conversation. They had one waitress that was doing everything so she couldn't give good service. Our bill came to over $85. We only had soda to drink. We had seafood Alfredo. There was no Alfredo! The lobster was a couple of knuckle pieces. Had three scollops, two of mine were raw in the middle. There were a fair amount of shrimp. The salad was served after the meal was brought. The meal was so dry because there wasn't any Alfredo sauce. It was called seafood Alfredo on the menu. We asked for another soda but the waitress was so busy, we didn't get it till after we had finished! Not a good birthday for someone turning 85! Don't think I would go again. read more
