First off, let me say a few good things about Service Professionals. Their team is very neat and…read morepolite. If you have a problem, the owner will be the first to contact you and come out to ensure your problem is rectified. I have no complaints about their capabilities of caring for AC systems, they are very knowledgeable. What I would like to share is a word of caution in signing a Service Agreement. Last winter we signed a one year agreement with SP. A week after signing our AC went out. Chuck came over immediately and diagnosed the problem as a pinched wire, which he said likely happened while he guys were servicing the unit, and he did not charge. He also put a few plastic caps on the unit that had apparently gotten lost at some point. Fast forward six months, I never heard from SP to schedule their 2nd service call. After 8 months I still had not heard from them. I decided to change the filters myself. When I pulled out the old filters I found one of them partially sucked up into the ductwork. There were no cardboard frames on any of the filters. Whether this is normal or not I don't know, but a frame would have prevented the filter from getting sucked into the ductwork. Photos attached. For the past 4-5 years we have had issues with mold growing on our pocket doors. I have always brought this to the attention of the teams who come to service our a/c. No one has ever been able to tell me why this happens. We also have large droplets of condensation hanging from the air vents in some areas. Again, no one has ever been able to provide an explanation. Out of frustration with the mold and condensation I decided to put some calls out to other a/c companies. When they went into the attic and removed the cover from the handler they found it covered in mold. Surprised, they asked when I'd last had the a/c serviced. I replied that it had been about 8 months ago, and I was told that this growth had occurred most likely over years, not months. In addition, the coil appeared in desperate need of a cleaning. Again, I attach photos. A good a/c service call out should take a good hour and a half I'm told. Not 30 minutes. There is more to a good call than changing the filters and clearing the pipes. I cannot say that this is entirely SP's fault, it is not. Had I known what to look for I would have requested, and asked to see the cleaned system. Prior to SP I had another local company "servicing" the system, and I fully believe these problems began years ago - long before I signed on with SP. My discouragement is that these problems were not caught, and also that I signed, and paid for an agreement up front. Chuck, SP's owner, tells me that it was my job to call him to ask them to come out and service the unit. I am a busy lady. If I pay in advance for something I consider my half of the bargain complete. I expect the company to put me on their calendar and follow up with me! I don't have the time of day to chase people around and remind them of what they should be doing. At any rate, I've hired another company to service my a/c. It has been scheduled well in advance. If they don't show up I won't stick with them either. Chuck tells me I am not entitled to a refund, and that if he were to refund the missed visit he would then charge me for unpinching the wire he told me his man had inadvertently pinched. My only suggestion is that you beware when signing a service agreement. Learn from my mistake. Ask them to schedule your 2nd visit immediately upon signing. Ask to see the work they've done. If you can't see your unit, ask them to photograph it and show you the photos. Ask them to clean your coil. Ask to see the filters before they install them. Hopefully someone will benefit from this review. Chuck has threatened legal action against me for posting. Again, they have a good team, and Chuck is very knowledgeable, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them, I would just caution you to be equally as knowledgeable when dealing with your a/c calls!
