It is soft as freshly fallen snow and very tasteful, nothing at all like those old Slush Puppy syrups that make your teeth ache. I'm usually not a fan of mango sticky rice, but Oasit's version completely won me over and reminded me of the one I had at a stall in Bangkok. The rice was still warm but fragrant with the scent of coconut milk and the sliced mango was fresh, juicy, and sweet. The mango shaved ice had a milky taste with a powdery finish that melted in my mouth instantly. I liked the little milk mochi pieces that added some chew to the dessert, though the mango cubes had a strange jellied texture and absolutely no mango flavor at all. I did ask a staff member about it, but they didn't know what kind of mango was used. Unfortunately, the jellied mango cubes were too distracting and detracted from my overall experience which was a shame because the mangoes from the sticky rice were definitely fresh.

My apartment manager was an angel and getting the truck for an event at our complex. He was taste testing and bought me one. I got one of their "adult flavors" and ordered a blueberry acai... I imagined it to be your typical shaved ice that you get from the ice cream truck that used to come through your neighborhood in 5th grade. But honestly, somehow they made flavored shaved ice - premium. It was really the best shaved ice I have ever had, and according to their truck they are low calorie. A wonderful treat on a hot day, would definitely spend my own money if they stopped by the neighborhood again.

In 2024, they opened another brick & mortar location on the Milford Oval, Island Bowls Cafe serving up acai bowls, Hawaiian shaved ice, coffee drinks, lemonades, shakes, breakfast sandwiches, loco moco, and Hawaiian plate lunches. The prices here seem pretty reasonable. The place has limited table seating inside and high top seating and outside patio seating in front of the shop. I stopped by Island Bowls Cafe in Milford over the weekend. When I walked in and began looking over the menu on their touchscreen, I was informed by staff that they were sold out of shaved ice from the day before. I've had their acai bowls which are really good. I decided to order lunch and got the Large Kalua Pork Plate Lunch ($13.25 plus tax), which had slow cooked shredded pork over white rice with macaroni salad and kimchi garnish. The pork had a smoky salty flavor and very soft and tender to eat. The white rice was a bit dry, but still fine with the pork. The creamy macaroni salad was pretty good too. I would come back here during the week and hopefully they will have Hawaiian shaved ice available with my food.
