So, it finally happened. After years of driving back and forth past this place, I finally got around to walking inside and actually trying the food. Poor Boy's is one of those places that always stood out to me for its namesake and convenient location. Judging from the hours and menu format, it's clear this restaurant's specialty is breakfast, despite what the numerous photos might have you think. So naturally, I tried the veggie omelet with all the fixins. I gotta say...they live up to the hype. PB gets packed on the weekends, so it's best to arrive here early. Like...before 9:30. The inside is cozy and quaint, but also small. I imagine it doesn't take long for this place to fill up during peak hours. The omelet was pretty simple, but tasty with no singed or burnt edges like how so many other breakfast joints screw up their omelets. They sauteed all the veg prior to compiling the omelet, so that's a bonus. The hashbrowns were an interesting, new texture I'm not familiar with. It's hard to describe, but it's almost like....if hashbrowns were rice. In any case, I dig it and I'll have to try mine with onion next time. The bacon was crispy as requested, though also a little thick. One thing's for sure, you won't leave here hungry. They must've given bestie's hubby like half a loaf of bread's worth of toast; regular AND French (for some reason). I'll stick with my English muffin for now. Overall...like an 8 out of 10. My only real complaint about PB's is the furniture. Well....some of it. Their booths feel like they haven't renovated in decades. Because I definitely had what felt like a coat hanger shoved up my fifth point of contact. I imagine the chairs at the tables are more comfortable, so.....stick with the tables, if you can. I certainly see myself returning for a classic hash and eggs over easy. Till then, I'm giving Poor Boy's Diner 4 pristinely cooked veggie omelets (minus peppers) out of 5.

Went here before a hike and it was a solid place to go. We were able to sit at a table after waiting for a few minutes. Menu can be slightly confusing if potatoes and toast are included as pasty of your meal due to an addition that the restaurant had to add. But just ask to clarify and the waitress will help. I had the corned beef hash with sourdough toast, two eggs and tater tots. The tots were super crispy and well seasoned. All other parts of the meal were solid. Get here on the earlier side and you get a seat. Also, your entire party needs to be present before you can get a table.

From the specials menu: the fried pork chops with maple syrup and bacon on top. Added with a side of fries and a side of sweet potato fries

Simply Excellent food! This was our second time stopping in at this diner. What I really like about it is we went there for dinner and the menu was just so huge. You could get a breakfast favorite, a sandwich, or a full hot cooked dinner. So they really had something for everyone! I ordered an item from their specials menu which was this fried pork chop with bacon and maple syrup on top. I never had anything like it; not only was it gigantic, but it was delicious. There were three medium sized pork chops on the plate. The combination of the bacon and the maple syrup were simply delicious. My friend had the turkey sandwich and dad had the special burger with onion soup and onion rings. Big portions and tasty. You can't go wrong with that. It's located straight off the highway so it's easy to get to. Anyone whether they're old or young will find something to like off the menu and enjoy this comfort food spot.

They used my love of food trucks to design a custom menu (self-serve food stations featuring: nachos, tacos, ramen & slider "bars") as well as serving mini crab cakes & lobster rolls (CHUNKS of lobster meat & claw) with a beautiful, bountiful "grazing" table (tons of cheese, fruit, veggies, hummus, house-made potato chips & dip)...all of this being entirely fun, casual & modern but decorated & set up so classy & beautiful to fit in with my "rustic elegant" barn theme. Our favors/place settings for guests were individually wrapped caramel apples tied with little ribbons and people were going nuts at how cool of an idea it was (also Stacy & Jason's idea!) The food was incredible. There were NO leftovers from dinner & only a small amount of apps left over because we over-ordered on purpose for a nice midnight snack ;] There were extra apples & I took most of them & plan on eating one a day for the next few days. All of our guests were blown away, had fun, complimented the food and Stacy, Jason & their staff's professionalism & hospitality. They even helped store & serve the dessert from the bakery I run (not their own product but they understood how important this element was to me). Stacy is incredibly responsive with all emails/the business end of things & to ICE THE CAKE, she offered us a decorating service as well! (AMAZING for me, who is aesthetically challenged). I was SPEECHLESS when I walked into our barn and saw the tables decorated with eucalyptus leaves, pumpkins, gourds, floating candles and an absolutely gorgeous sweetheart table. I'm still reliving the memories from yesterday and Stacy & Jason were a HUGE part of one of the most important days of my life & I could not have asked for a better caterer & decorator. I wish I could give them 100 stars instead of 5. They are worth every penny, do it, do it, do it. It was PERFECT.

I always get one lol Country Benedict- this is what I order every time I come here as my main dish. You get buttermilk biscuits instead of English muffins with sausage patties on top and the lovely gravy. The gravy is soo good. CHOCOLATECHIP pancakes- my daughter go to since she loves chocolate lol. Which 5 year old doesn't right? She always gets this and it's really good. Outside, it looks nothing like the classic New England train car style or New Jersey stainless steel style diners, but inside are countertop with stools, booths around the outskirts, and the hustle and bustle giving it a strong diner vibe. Like my visits to many diners, I was here on my patty melt quest. -- Patty Melt: First, the composition is faithful to the prototype, with a quarter pound patty (no smashburger nonsense), rye bread (no sourdough decoy), buttered (not merely toasted), and with the classic Swiss cheese, sautéed onions and thousand Island dressing. No fusion, no reinvention, no omissions, no hipster jive. Good crispness and butteriness on the bread, great melt on the cheese, and noticeable softness to the onions. Most importantly, the beef could be ordered medium rare, and they executed. More softness, with gushing juices and a really pleasing bite. I suspect nothing special to start with, but they cooked it to near perfection. Only quibble would be not much crust to the patty, but not as critical on a patty melt. -- Fries: I could have had tots or a few other options, but fries were fine. Almost certainly frozen, but the skin-on variety and not the dreaded coated kind. Nothing special, but good enough. Service was adequate. It seemed like everyone was prepping to get everything gathered and cleaned for closing about 90 minutes earlier than necessary, but that didn't detract. If anything, it shows initiative and hustle. Not much data to go on, but an easy 4 for me.

Anyways, Crack'd Kitchen totally lives up to its namesake, for every single egg product here utilizes (wait for it).....REAL cracked eggs!! This may seem like a rudimentary feature. But when you take into consideration how many short-order breakfast places rely on liquid or processed egg, things like this are graciously appreciated by those of us with a palate above that of a seven-year-old. So, I had an opportunity to try this place out both to-go and dine-in. Right upfront, I will say the food is far superior when enjoyed dine-in style. Given the distance from my house, I can aptly say we'll be mostly opting for dine-in (unless the dining area is hella crowded). For to-go, I tried the Country Breakfast whilst the dine-in meal was one of their sammiches; The Basic, to be precise. Overall, both were little short of greatness in their own ways. Though, I made a few casual observations. As mentioned earlier, this stuff is way more enjoyable inside the restaurant. Ergo, I probably should have reversed which meal I ordered when. Despite that minor setback, I think I actually liked the Country Breakfast more than the sammich. Whilst the former carries decently well as a to-go plate, the latter could have benefited from some seasoning on the eggs. I guess that's why they also offer sandwiches with various special sauces. Not gonna lie....I am slightly curious about their honey-sriracha sauce. One day I shall be brave enough to fancy it. One other complaint I have about the platter specifically: you only get half as many hashbrowns with the meal. For....some reason. Meanwhile, I ordered a side of hashbrowns with my sandwich and it came with six. I would assume that'd be the standard across the board so....make it make sense? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Btw....I should probably mention the only reason I'm stuck on this point is because the hashbrowns themselves are amazeballs! They don't even need ketchup, but comes with it if you fancy that sort of thing. A few other housekeeping deetz: their gender ambiguous restrooms are located toward the back entrance. There is also complimentary water for folks dining in. So, yeah. We'll certainly be revisiting this place from time to time. Perhaps I'll even try a couple of over-easy eggs at some point. Till then, Crack'd Kitchen and Coffee in Salem gets 4 cracked eggs with bacon and beautifully seasoned hashbrowns out of 5.
