Wow! Great place with great service! Upon entering the establishment, I was greeted by Kaitlyn, who as it turned out, was also my server! I really appreciated her energy. She really seemed to care and I really appreciate when places have team members like her! I ordered the omelette that she recommended, the Colorado, which was tasty. My only disappointment was the toast, they don't use the traditional rustic style sourdough that I am accustomed to, but it was still great. I look forward to visiting again, and hopefully Kaitlyn isn't always in the front section, because it gets COLD whenever people enter the front door during winter which now that I think about it, is likely why there were open tables in that section! Well, that was an interesting experience. Ambiance was typical old school dinner look Ordered the Split Pea with Ham soup. Way too thick. Way too salty. I asked for some hot water to dilute the salty and improve the viscosity. 5 oz. oz. of hot water added. Still way too salty. Could not eat it. Waitress saw my uneaten soup. Never asked why I didn't eat it. I asked for my check. Bill was $7.37. I gave my server $20 bill. She returned with $12 of change. I questioned the change. So, it finally happened. After years of driving back and forth past this place, I finally got around to walking inside and actually trying the food. Poor Boy's is one of those places that always stood out to me for its namesake and convenient location. Judging from the hours and menu format, it's clear this restaurant's specialty is breakfast, despite what the numerous photos might have you think. So naturally, I tried the veggie omelet with all the fixins. I gotta say...they live up to the hype. PB gets packed on the weekends, so it's best to arrive here early. Like...before 9:30. The inside is cozy and quaint, but also small. I imagine it doesn't take long for this place to fill up during peak hours. The omelet was pretty simple, but tasty with no singed or burnt edges like how so many other breakfast joints screw up their omelets. They sauteed all the veg prior to compiling the omelet, so that's a bonus. The hashbrowns were an interesting, new texture I'm not familiar with. It's hard to describe, but it's almost like....if hashbrowns were rice. In any case, I dig it and I'll have to try mine with onion next time. The bacon was crispy as requested, though also a little thick. One thing's for sure, you won't leave here hungry. They must've given bestie's hubby like half a loaf of bread's worth of toast; regular AND French (for some reason). I'll stick with my English muffin for now. Overall...like an 8 out of 10. My only real complaint about PB's is the furniture. Well....some of it. Their booths feel like they haven't renovated in decades. Because I definitely had what felt like a coat hanger shoved up my fifth point of contact. I imagine the chairs at the tables are more comfortable, so.....stick with the tables, if you can. I love this place. It's a total dive with terrific food. We've been going for 15 years and not much has changed. Solid menu for any time of day. Staff works their tails off. Omelettes are awesome here, as are tater tots. I've never had a bad meal here. read more

Poor Boy's Diner was impressive from the moment I stepped through the door with the waitresses (Kaitlynn and Kayla) greeting me with smile and letting me sit "wherever is clean." Clean is an understatement! The booth, walls, and bathrooms looked like they were scrubbed down just minutes before I showed up. Food was so good. The chicken tasted like it had just come off the grill and was a perfect addition to my salad. It was way more than ai should have eaten, but it was so good! The service was just as brilliant. Kaitlynn and Kayla would show up at the right time to ask me if I needed a refill on my drink. They are quite the team. It was as if I had 2 servers instead of just one. Heck, I saw one of them ask the cooks in the back for a special pancake for this young girl. Her expression to the pancake was priceless! We just moved to the area. I went once with my family and this woman was very rude while seating us. So rude I didn't want to go back ever. Thinking sometimes people have bad days we tried again...same woman seating and serving people rude again. So we won't be back. Went here before a hike and it was a solid place to go. We were able to sit at a table after waiting for a few minutes. Menu can be slightly confusing if potatoes and toast are included as pasty of your meal due to an addition that the restaurant had to add. But just ask to clarify and the waitress will help. I had the corned beef hash with sourdough toast, two eggs and tater tots. The tots were super crispy and well seasoned. All other parts of the meal were solid. Get here on the earlier side and you get a seat. Also, your entire party needs to be present before you can get a table. read more

My wife and I have been coming to Poor Boys for years. Breakfast always tastes great. Wait staff have always been accommodating. However today I now realize why there is such a high turn around with staff. One of the owners was very rude to us today. Will not be coming back here and will discourage anyone from doing so because of this reason. I'm not one to post many reviews, however when my wife has to approach someone to let them know we were displeased with our encounter with her, we know there is an issue. We patronized Poor Boys more so during the pandemic then we normally would because we wanted to help in supporting a local business we like. Ordering lunches and breakfasts to go. It's a small place up by exit 5, off route 93 in NH that delivers big! Walking in on a weekend might mean waiting a bit depending on the time, but it's well worth it. The first time I went I picked out the hash & cheese omelette and have been unable to change my order since, it's that good which says a lot considering they have a ton of very unique omelette choices. To me it's a perfect omelette, it simply doesn't get much better, and if it does it's hard to imagine. It comes with choice of potato and toast, both of which are great as well. Had breakfast here this morning. Coffee was not good. Had the California Omelet and it was yummy. My husband had the eggs Benedict and he said it was ok. They give you a lot of potatoes. We split the strawberry stuffed French toast it was just ok. Strawberries were not fresh and French toast was cold. Reason we would not recommend is because we waited very long for our food and a waitress there was rude. Lisa another waitress could see we were looking around for our waitress. My husband said we had been sitting there for an hour. Lisa was quick to say, I can tell how long you've been waiting by looking on their computer system. She came back, and as she passed by from a distance said you been waiting 16 minutes and attempted to disregard our concern. Had to ask her to come back and explain. She was rude and no customer service skills at all. No empathy to our feelings No communication skills what so ever. Her attitude was unacceptable and made us feel like we did something wrong. Our waitress finally came back and told us there was a mixup with our order. Yes we were annoyed it took so long, but we were not rude to neither of the waitresses. We simply ask for our waitress so we could ask about the status of our food. Instead of questioning our concerns about how long we were waiting and checking a computer to tell us we were lying. Maybe talk to the waitress. We would have been ok with....It's busy, our staff is doing their best, etc. Next time we visit NH, we will not be returning. read more

Simply Excellent food! This was our second time stopping in at this diner. What I really like about it is we went there for dinner and the menu was just so huge. You could get a breakfast favorite, a sandwich, or a full hot cooked dinner. So they really had something for everyone! I ordered an item from their specials menu which was this fried pork chop with bacon and maple syrup on top. I never had anything like it; not only was it gigantic, but it was delicious. There were three medium sized pork chops on the plate. The combination of the bacon and the maple syrup were simply delicious. My friend had the turkey sandwich and dad had the special burger with onion soup and onion rings. Big portions and tasty. You can't go wrong with that. It's located straight off the highway so it's easy to get to. Anyone whether they're old or young will find something to like off the menu and enjoy this comfort food spot. read more

A small diamond in the rough! My mother & I accidently found Poor Boys diner turning around for the highway so we had to stop in. Our breakfasts were both phenomenal. I had the classic eggs, bacon & homefries while my mother settled on the 9oz sirloin & eggs. Everything was hot & fresh. Fluffy toast, perfect eggs & I really enjoyed my bacon. My mom happily devoured her steak. Our waitress Kaitlyn was amazing. Not only attentive and accomodating, but such a treat to talk with. Would absolutely come back. Great start to the day. This place is truly a hidden gem. My daughter lives in the vicinity and suggested it. The establishment literally looks like a one family house which made it even more endearing. We were seated immediately on a Saturday, late afternoon. For such a little place it had an enormous menu and I loved that they offered breakfast anytime. I ordered French Onion Soup and a Kitchen Sink omelette minus a few items with homefries and corned beef hash. My drink of choice was a Mimosa. The soup and omelette were particularly excellent. The corned beef hash was delicious, cooked to order. I returned the following day for breakfast. The pancakes I had were okay but I didn't enjoy them as much as the omelette I had the day before. This place is definitely on my must-do list the next time I'm in town. The ambiance is homey in a good way and the service friendly and welcoming with a local vibe. This was our first time at this cozy, family owned diner and everything was absolutely delicious!! The wait staff was also very pleasant and attentive. We started off our meal with the loaded potato skins. These were hands down the best potato skins I've ever had. They were homemade with fresh bacon, cheese & chives and they were huge! For dinner I had the delicious black and blue burger with the hand cut fries. They were so good!! Both the burger and fries were cooked to perfection. A few minutes after we began eating our meals the waitress brought out a large plate of additional hand cut fries ON THE HOUSE because they "felt like they hadn't given us enough"!!! The root beer, which was their house Poor Boy's brand had a classic "old fashioned" root beer taste. I highly recommend you try Poor Boy's if you want delicious, high quality diner fare. And btw- breakfast is served all day, which the kids loved! We will definitely be back! My only suggestion is that instead of using styrofoam "to-go" containers they switch to a more eco-friendly option such as a compostable paper container. read more

Great food and quick service. We were a group of six and were in and out of there in about an hour. Service was great. I had coffee and my cup never went empty. Coffee is good. Not weak but not overly strong. I had the lobster eggs Benedict. Market price for end of August was about $20. Delicious! Plenty of lobster and delicious hollandaise. We had breakfast here on a trip to NH. Food was Awsm, i had a Western Omelet with tater tots and Rye Toast. All were served piping hot, very tasty food. My wife had the Veggie Omelet, she loved it. Thought we would check out Poor Boys Diner on the reviews on Yelp. I have driven by this place many times but never got the impression it was much so we have never gone in. The reviews on Yelp look like it was a place we'd want to try. I will say there were not many cars in the parking lot so wasn't sure what to expect. We went with our friends so hoped it would be good. The inside is a typical diner decor. Their website does not have their menu on it so it is hard to see if there is anything you like on it ahead of time. Knowing all diners have turkey and I like turkey I ordered the hot turkey sandwich. My friend did as well. The two guys got Prime Rib. The dinners came and looked delicious. The gravy looked dark and delicious. I started cutting into my turkey and realized it was not a slice of a turkey breast but a slice of some sort of turkey roll. The turkey was divided into sections. The edges of the turkey had grill marks on it making me think it was some sort of turkey roll. It was gross what ever it was. I got mashed which were OK and carrots which were cooked fresh. All would have been fine as far as I'm concerned if it weren't for the fake turkey. The boys got their Prime Rib and after a few minutes said this is sooooo salty. I tasted the aujus and it was the aujus that was extremely salty, and VERY over seasoned. I think it would have been fine if it weren't so obnoxiously salty. I never add salt to anything and wouldn't have been able to eat two bites if it were my dinner. So disappointed as it cost us approx. $100 plus for those dinners. If they could fix the saltiness of their au jus and actually serve fresh turkey we would have had a much better experience. read more

We were not regulars it was our first time so service was so so. We went there because I LOVE poutine . Their sign at the time said something like they were voted the best poutine. I was very disappointed. The gravy tasted like gravy from a jar . We have not gone back . Food is super expensive now a days so when I get served something awful it leaves a bad taste in my mouth (literally) I'm not willing to spend the money at a restaurant that I know I've had a bad experience with just for the shot to give them a second chance. What a waste of money! The quality was horrible and the dining room has one of the grossest carpets I have ever seen or smelled. The food is typical diner and tastes pre packed/frozen.
