After reading all these reviews, I was a bit skeptical of this shop, but we needed lanai loungers. We ended up buying two beautiful rattan chairs with ottomans covered in Regal's Honolulu Sunset fabric. We enjoyed talking to Isaac (who is a character) and Natasha was gracious. Many people come to Hawai'i expecting to purchase furniture like they do on the mainland, but it's different here. The island relies on shipping barges so we need to practice Aloha and be patient. Small business owners are often between a rock and a hard place (esp with looming tariffs) nowadays with sky-high rent and demanding customers who are also tense. At Island Collections, you won't find a better selection of rattan furniture on the Big Island, especially at this price. Isaac communicates very directly and I appreciate that quality. read more

Be Very Careful! 2 years ago we purchased dining, living room, bedroom set & sofa sleeper set. Loved it all until recently sofa mechanism broke. 3 year warranty? Hahah! No buy a new one! At $1200 I was told mechanism & mattress can't be sold separately but website says you can! Conclusion Issac- Your a LYING DISHONEST WASTE OF HUMAN FLESH! Thank you Isaac Gonshor for our fabulous outdoor recliners with sunbrella fabric! They are so very comfortable and good looking. We even found really nice covers for them in Improvements catalog at a reasonable price. Now the darn feral cats can't hurt the fabric. And we are also extremely pleased with the custom made seat cushions for our teak dining chairs. They fit in there really well and we don't have to worry about ties or snaps or Velcro! Again the matching sunbrella fabric is a real advantage in our sunny climate. And you think of everything - even the covers for the headrests on the recliners. The furniture is ok, but the arms turned dark. Since I was told they guarantee the furniture I stopped in and was accused of having it in a vacation rental (it's in a house with 2 mature adults). I sent in a picture as requested, and got no response. 3 phone calls later (I was told the owner was too busy to call me back, so I had to keep calling), I finally spoke with Isaac who said, "that's just bad housekeeping" He did agree to give me some product which would clean it up. I drove over an hour to get it, and he asked why I didn't call before coming. He could only give me the product Monday - Friday, and it was Saturday. When I expressed concern over the rudeness I received when I stopped in and called the first time, he became eratic and accused me of being rude. Hmmm, who is the customer here? Aloha, I ordered my TV cabinet back in December, it took a while to make, but voila, it's beautiful & matches perfectly. Note "white wash" rattan is very hard to find and they will custom make it for you as well as many other colors. Since the condo I bought already had "white wash" rattan, I figured I better stick with the theme. I told Isaac "white wash" is gonna come back in style, not sure he believes me, LOL. Island Collections owner recently sold me 2 queen mattresses. At first I can to return one because it was mush. After only 1 yr, the springs on both mattresses on the sides popped out. Issac the owner claimed there was misuse of me being fat and jumping in the bed. I weigh 129, I'm 63 years old and besides the worst one I put in a house that I had staged and rarely slept in it! He told me to come and he would look at it. After I drives an hour to get there, he was not present and told me to leave them there, to come back Monday. After he looked at them he swore he never seen anything like it. Accused me as I mentioned above and his only remedy was for me to buy 2 new ones at a price I could buy at any mattress place. Another twin bed I bought awhile ago is full of bugs in the rattan. Buyer beware!!!!! read more

Aloha Yelp readers! I have a painful shoulder and had been advised to get a recliner chair to help relieve some discomfort. Many people said go to Costco but they have huge, ugly, expensive chairs! I prefer supporting small businesses on the island and discovered Island Collections where Isaac and Natasha listened to what I wanted and granted my every wish!! I am a small person and the recliner fits me perfectly. Also, I need the chair to recline easily and it does exactly that. I was able to choose the upholstery from a ton of selections and know the chair will look perfect in my house. The quality is good, the prices high and the customer service is acceptable. Island Collections (IC) initially over-charged us, delivered the wrong item, changed prices on final invoice after agreeing to pay. After a few emails, I was able to get a refund. Isaac is a slick salesman, very poor accounting skills (he can be very busy). So check the invoice, check that the itemized list is clear and legible before "signing on the dotted line". read more

I ordered a considerable amount of furniture from this outfit. The merchant promised delivery dates, none of which he could make. He kept giving excuses. Finally, after a great deal of waiting, furniture was delivered. Unfortunately, the delivery was incomplete. I went to talk to the owner and requested a refund on one of the undelivered items plus refund of the state tax on that specific item. He immediately became angry and threw a ten-dollar bill at me saying that should take care of the tax. (The owner's wife graciously gave me a refund on this item.) I wanted to discuss a second item that he charged me in the amount of $395 and failed to delivered. The merchant refused to talk to me. Since I paid his invoices via credit card, I contacted the credit card company who processed a dispute against this merchant. I was awarded the refund. BE VERY CAUTIOUS WHEN DEALING WITH THIS MERCHANT. read more

The same thing happened to us as Cu J's review. We ordered 4 bar stools. Weeks later, three were ready. We waited a few more weeks for fabric for the 4th stool. When it was finally ready after many phone calls, my husband left work early to pick it up and they closed earlier than the sign posted on the door. I called the next day and one of their employees delivered the stool. The chairs are nice if you have all the time in the world to wait. read more

When we bought our townhouse in 2008 we were referred to Island Collections and were not disappointed. Lots to choose from and beautiful tropical fabrics. We rent out place part-time and people always comment on the lovely furnishings. Recently I had the sofa reupholstered and Isaac helped us with the new recliner. He stays on top of the order until it is delivered properly. Our king size bed is more comfortable that the one I have on the mainland which I paid far more money. read more

Buyer beware when shopping here. When you have decided on your purchase make sure to take a photo of the item, such as, the pattern you order. Also, make sure the fabric sample matches the name Isaac writes on your statement. I would also suggest taking a photo of the fabric sample as well. The sleeper sofa and recliner we recently purchased here was the wrong fabric. I had no recourse in the matter as the fabric sample was gone, as was the sofa set with the correct pattern that was in his warehouse when my husband and I returned to the store to complain. So there was no evidence to prove his mistake, there was no way to correct it. I'm ashamed to admit this is the second time I have been duped. Unfortunately, he has cornered the market on sofa beds that will fit in our small condo rental so I view his business as a necessary evil. The furniture is fine for the price you pay and there is a decent selection as long as you buy what's on display in the warehouse. The problem comes when you order something with a specific fabric or stain. He will tell you it will be shipped from Mexico or California and take about 4-5 weeks. Beware! That is a bold face lie. Our furniture took over 10 weeks and we did not order much or ask for anything out of stock. We have since spoken to many others who also purchased from him and all their orders took at least 8 weeks or longer, after they were told 4-5 weeks. It would be much better if he would be honest that orders take at least 2 months. If its in early, he has happy customers. Poor customer service to tell someone week after week after week that their items will be just 1 more week. We were given that same line 5 weeks in a row, while we sat on the floor of our new home. read more
