Not really happy with the lack of effort put forth by Steve on this order. I called and placed an order at 10 am on a Wednesday and Steve had guaranteed he would get that emailed over so I could pay online and get on the Friday delivery. By noon no email so I called Steve back, yeah it's really busy today but I'll get to it was his comment. By 3pm no email, so I called again and asked if I should come in and get the order processed as I was wanting to get the Friday delivery. Steve again assured me he was going to get right in it after we hung up. My bad at this point for believing in him. No email ever came to pay and process and I had an early flight out out Thursday, when I got back to my email Friday morning I received an email from Steve and mattress firm asking how the service was????? Ok so I had assumed that Steve had made this happen knowing I wanted to put the bedroom together for the wife, I called at 10 and Steve was absent, the lady who answered had said the order was written but not sent and the delivery had gone out without my order. So thanks for nothing Steve, well you did email me asking for a review and here it is. From start of day to close of day you were obviously rushed off your feet. I purchased a return mattress at a discount with the verbal understanding from the sales person Katherine that I had the ability to exchange, not refund as the new mattresses offer within the Mattress Firms return/refund policy time period. This mattress is a top of the line Serta and I paid a lot even at the discounted used mattress rate. The mattress is defined as a plush variety and way too soft for my bad back. I expressed that concern with Katherine at the time of purchase and she suggested I try it with the understanding I could exchange for a firmer version at the regular retail price and pay the difference. She even went so far as to say that the firm version is basically the same and that she has the same one I was buying and loved it. The point is that I was lied to by Katherine to her benefit. In addition I paid extra for an electrical base which does not work with my bed frame. She asked me what type of bed I had snd said it would work fine. In addition for an extra $149 I needed to have the delivery team set it up or the warranty for that base would be void. I also paid a fortune for bamboo sheets and a mattress protector that don't even fit this bed. I cannot sleep on this mattress and am extremely upset that I was mislead. I am asking and expecting to exchange it for something suitable and to be refunded for the base and delivery fee. I paid over $3000 for all of this. Katherine is a disgrace to her profession and has no interest in happy customers. I am hoping to receive a call back from the manger at the highest level to settle this. According to Katherine there were "no managers in the store today" for me to speak with. We shall see if this type of salesmanship is acceptable to Mattress Firm. I bought a queen memory foam mattress that stays cool which is great for hot nights. I was recommended to buy a protective sheet for the bed and the price lowered. I have been looking around to buy a bed on Maui and it has been a flustering experience. Sears had decent beds at a huge discount during the recent sale but you had to wait 3-6 weeks for delivery. Costco had beds but you could not try them out and had to sort out delivery yourself. Then I found American Mattress and Dale. What a difference! Dale was a great person to work with and had no problem answering all my questions. There was no pressure to buy either. He helped me stay in my budget and that was a big help. I got a wonderful bed and futon sofa delivered days later. The guys who delivered it were fantastic too. They set up everything professionally and even helped me get the bed skirt on. Something I would have struggled with doing it myself. They also helped me move a futon out to the garage and I would not have been able to do that alone! We were shopping for 2 King mattresses this week in Maui. We went to Sleep Train in Kahului late on a Tuesday night after we had been shopping all day. Steve was extremely helpful and purchased the 2 King mattresses from him. Our delivery date was Saturday, but Steve was able to move it to Thursday when he heard we already disposed of the old beds that were left in our condo and only had twin beds to sleep on. CariAnn is absolutely amazing!!!!! She's so focused on what you need and will do anything in her power to get you what you want. The store is separated in sections of soft/plush, medium and firm which makes the decision making easier than any other store I've been to. They also have a section for deals and the more economical choices. CariAnn was able to have my test a few specific beds to gage my preference and sent me to the exact bed that was for me! Although I loved it I did go with another one from Costco because they had a steal of a deal, otherwise I would have bought this one in a heartbeat! She is very informative and knowledgeable and most of all personable and so sweet! I will definitely be her way next time I or a friend needs a mattress! When you move to Maui from the main land there's a good chance you're buying a new mattress, and if you're like me it's one of the harder pills to swallow knowing you have a perfectly good one sitting in storage (or maybe you don't, but you see where I'm going here) collecting dust in the dark a few thousand miles away. They're always more expensive than you remember, and it's hard to know what a few moments laying in a bed in public will mean in comparison to a few years of rest each night. Anyway, all that is to say, we were not looking forward to this process. When we walked in Dale was incredibly helpful and friendly. We told him we were on a budget and he immediately took us to the least expensive mattresses in the store. He did point out the benefits of the next level up, but not in a way that made us feel pressured. He also suggested we go with an elevated frame as opposed to buying a box spring. It was less expensive, and he really didn't even give trying to get us to spring for the box spring (yes, sorry for the pun) a second let alone first thought. We're having a Baby so my wife is pregnant and even though we're only keeping this mattress for a year or two, sleep and support will be important for her. So we ended up going for the step up from the least expensive. Not before we went to Costco to see if we could get a better deal. Dale was very classy in how he handled us leaving. He encouraged us to go, and said he'd love to earn our business by beating the competition. He told us he'd match their discount and pointed out they wouldn't deliver (something we were going to have a problem with as we don't have a large car. In the end we came back and took him up on his offer to match their price. He even made delivery of the mattress a breeze. I'd definitely suggest America's Mattress and Dale to anybody on the island looking to replace their long time Mattress, or newly arrived folks looking for a great deal. read more
