Island doctors has declined to a whopping 1 star. On 3 occasions I lost my primary care to various reasons or another. Not once was I notified or was I assisted to be paired with a comparable physician. Just recently I lost my doctor because he was let go for spending too much time with his patients. Sometimes you would have to wait a bit to see him. This was the ONLY doctor who had a perfect rating as a primary Care with Humana. So again without being notified or assisted to be paired with another comparable doctor. This practice has become the infamous cattle call medical complex practice. Every time I walk in there I alway see faces disappearing and new ones being brought in. It has gotten to be a practice that allows 10 minutes a visit with script to write and you are on your way. My health attention is more important to me than a cattle call visit so the numbers bring in a bonus to the owner Roy Hinman so he can buy a boat or some exotic vacation, finance another office. On numerous occasions I would have a Scheduled appointment only to learn the person I had an appointment for was pulled to assist due to a shortage in one of the 44 offices that Roy Hinman owns. I have gotten to a point where I would call before I left my home to make sure my doctor would even be there. If you check with any of review sites the majority show 2 star ratings. The lack of personal interest of the patient. It is all about how much fat a person can lose and which gpl-1 jab they will push on you. Instead of opening up another office perhaps he should open up weigh watcher clinics. One time I came in sick and apparently my shampoo or deodorant scent offended the doctor and she actually refused to see me. I ended up going to urgent care instead to be seen. Personally I am a licensed CNA and retired Veterinary vet tech. I take get interest in my OWN health. I prefer natural and more of a regenerative approach to my health. This is almost non existent in the practice it is all about popping a pill and your on your way. Of ALL the doctors only one listened to my heart long enough to hear a heart murmur. Schedule an echo and was confirmed. They expect you to take who ever they have available to accommodate your appointment. They have no history with you it is a quick review at best before they walk through the door. If you want a McDonald's drive thru type of medical team then this practice is for you. When I have an appointment with a particular person I expect to be seen by them not some excuse they pulled that doctor for a shortage in another office. If I want this kind of medical attention I will go to an Urgent care center. After losing my primary the ONLY primary with a perfect rating I am now looking for another practice to meet my needs. The Medical staff is mostly good, the office staff is can be very confrontational. I wouldn't recommend them because of this. I ho to the doctor for my health. I've been going to Island Doctors since our move here from Georgia, first the Ormond Beach location. Dr. Alex Tavares-Cruz was my primary here in Palm Coast. Everything's changed in the past couple years. The staff is rude and unprofessional, you have to follow up on prescriptions and Dr. Tavares doesn't take time with me. He rushes through the appointment. talks too fast and was not up-to-date w my chart! I was hospitalized for congenital heart dis and he never sent me to a cardiologist, even though it was in his notes. I'm now with Conviva and they could take some lessons from them! They are thorough, let's me know what's going on in a timely manner, the staDr is nice and professional and Maria Roque listened to me, went through my meds and offered my ways to improve my health! Been a patient at Island Doctors in Mandarin for a couple of years now. This is a great office with caring people. Very efficient staff. I am 81 years old and I am treated with dignity. I see Michael for my 4 month review if labs. He goes over lab results one line at a time and makes sure I understand. Exactly how I am doing. He is a true professional and great teacher. I have a lot of underlying health issues, so many that between the VA and Community Care I have 11 doctors! My favorite place to go is located on 264 Island Doctors Palm Coast! My doctor Brittany is actually a Nurse Practitioner and she is as good as it gets! She goes above and beyond for me!!! My biggest pet peeve is bedside manner. My wife had Island Doctors in Crescent City, so when we moved to Palm Coast, we decided to both go to the office in Palm Coast. The worst decision ever. Just as several people mentioned, this is a republican recruiting office posing as a doctors office and it shows by a lack of taking the virus seriously. We had a first visit at which they wanted us to take tests not normal for new patients in other offices and the doctor we had did not wear a mask. On the next visit when the same doctor came in, he still did not wear a mask. When we asked him to wear one he told us he was not sick. We asked two more times before demanding he wear a mask or get us another doctor. He got a mask, put it on and told us "only for you". I complained to the main office about it and received a call. The manager said that was not right for him not to wear one and they would get back to me after talking to his superiors. He never got back and I figured that his superiors told him to forget it. DO NOT use Island Doctors anywhere if you value your safety. read more

I had been a patient with Island Doctors for a few years but I just dropped them and have gotten a new primary care doctor. They are the worst medical offices I have ever been to. The staff is rude, impatient, and dismissive to the patients. Appointments are made, but when you arrive, they tell you that your are mistaken and never made an appointment, even THOUGH you are showing them the appointment card that THEY filled out and gave you on the previous visit. On numerous occasions this happened and on one visit, they told me that the dr. wasn't in the office and my choices were to just drive home or see the substitute dr.. I had no objections to a substitute but since they had called me the day before to verify my appointment, I feel they could have let me know the dr. wouldn't be available then. Also, getting a referral is nearly impossible. I have been seeing them for a back/leg injury that occurred in 2020 and after four years, they have not helped me at all. They just keep ordering MRIs and various xrays and then never follling up on the results. Finally the doctor said there was "nothing he could do" and said he was referring me to a Pain clinic. Well, after wasting several months going there, they did not help me. They also told me on my first visit that they "do not prescribe opiates or other pain medications" as if I was there merely to get drugs. I am a 73 yr. old woman and not interested in drugs. I told them this from the very beginning and said I wanted to find out the CAUSE of the pain and be referred to the appropriate dr.. This was in November. It is now the end of March and they still haven't been able to do the referral. My primary care doctor, will only refer patients to their cohorts and frankly, these doctors are only in it for the money and to get as many patients as possible. It is nothing but a money making medical factory. When the primary care dr. finally sent a referral in to my medical advantage plan, it was done incorrectly and was denied. I also have had an eye exam and was told by my eye dr. that I need cataract surgery. He provided me with copies of the exam and recommendations for several IN NETWORK opthamologists. The referral dept. at Island Drs. refused to refer me to any of the drs. on the list that Humana sent to me and insisted that there are no Opthamologists in this area, other than Gainesille and St. Augustine, which is absolutely not true. When I questioned them on this, they were rude and outright lied to me. Oddly enough it just so happened that the doctors they insisted were the only ones in network, just happened to be affiliated with - guess who? Island Doctors! After I contacted Humana and made a formal complaint, they sent in a referral to Humana, however they filled it out incorrectly and put MY name on the form as the referring physican, so it was denied. The dr. they were referring me to is of course one of their network of afiliated drs., not any of the ones I showed them on the preferred network. It has been since November waiting on that referral as well as one for a neurologist. I cannot believe how unprofessional and incompetent the staff at Island Doctors is. They should not be allowed to be in Humana or any other Medicare Advantage's network. They prey on older people and apparently hope that since we are older, that we are too stupid, weak or senile to notice how poorly we are treated. I would rather see a Witch Doctor than ever set foot in an Island Doctor's office again. I can only hope the new doctor I have made an appointment with is more concerned with patients and not just in sending people for endless tests for no reason and doing nothing whatsoever as far as actual medical care is concerned. They couldn't even give flu shots, pneumonia, covid or any vaccinations at their office. They did NO actual medical care at all and seem to be merely a referral service for their afilliates. I had to go to my pharmacy to get all my vaccinations. The office staff are rude, completely without empathy or compassion in any form and defensive and accusatory if you call them out on their lies. I hope that enough complaints are made to either shut them down or run them out of this state. It's difficult enough getting older and having health issues without being treated like cattle or made to feel like just moving parts on an assembly line. Being sent for never ending, unneccesary tests, xrays, being referred to various doctors for non-existent problems, then being told that you need even more tests for things that you don't need, having appointments canceled without any notice, or worse, going in for an appointment and being told that your doctor is no longer at that office and has moved but no one bothered to mention this when confirming your appointment. Also, the Pain Management place filed my secondary insurance claims incorrectly so they too were denied. It's just a system wide lack of competency. read more

I've been with Island Doctors for years and for the last 5-6 years I've been saying I was going to leave and find another primary. This last episode is the straw that broke the camels back. I have been waiting a solid week for a very innocuous prescription refill. Nothing controlled, a very mundane medicine to help with ulcers which occur in the mouth. A WEEK with 5 requests from my pharmacy. Nothing. Crickets. I called the office on Thursday and asked them to PLEASE....said they would by end of day. It is not Saturday and I'm still waiting. Hasn't even been called in to pharmacy. I. AM. DONE. I'm speaking specifically of Island Doctors on Sterthaus in Ormond Beach!!!! read more

Very, very bad service. I went today to remove heart monitor. I wait 20 min in waiting room. When I ask how long I have to wait for removing few electrodes from my chest I got answer, I have to have this monitor for 24 hrs. I said, it is 24 and half hrs. on me and is time to remove and maybe I can remove by my self ( like always I did it) the men said - no. He took me in and very upset start removing like from animal. I want to tell him, one electrode, 4 hrs. after I got this monitor, came off so I'm not sure if test will be ok. He did not listened to me and screaming on me, tore off these electrodes. I'm was upset to but I am a patient but he is working there and should not treat me like that. I'm going to report this incident because person like this guy should not work in Doctors Office. read more

l'd give 0 stars if I could! Worst scamming practice ever! Takes advantage of old people. Went to an appointment with my mom 2 weeks ago, after she lost 40 lbs in 6 months. I was told, as he read her 6 inch file with a microscope that "he employs several doctors" that she needs to see (that he pays) like a psychologist along with a few others and to just to schedule more appointments for her, after I explained that getting her to all these appointments is a challenge. But he said all was good just keep her moving. Keep in mind she goes to him every 3 months (although all of her meds are not narcotics just blood pressure, cholesterol, etc) and could he prescribed for longer periods of time, he just wants the money. So 2 weeks later, she was on breathing and feeding tubes being told she has lung cancer. She is off the tubes now and will need to go through cancer treatments etc. He also didn't bother reading back into her records to see she was on heart medicine which I told him she had been on since 1995 after her first heart attack. He was surprised yet has been seeing her for 20 years! Avoid this practice at all costs, I know hers a Vet which I respect but he should no longer be in practice! UPDATE- on Christmas Day we also find out she has brain cancer. So for someone who has seen this crook every 3 months for 20 years who has never figured anything out, run for your life. I had three appointments scheduled with my doctor and all three times I had to reschedule because he wasn't going to be in the office that day! This was over a period of a year! If they tell you that a nurse will call you, don't hold your breath! The last straw was when I tore a tendon in my finger. They did a poor job of splinting my finger so I ended up buying a real splint on Amazon! They also sent me for an x-ray but never bothered to let me know the results! I didn't find out until a month later that I had a hairline fracture when I went into pay my bill at Imaging. I asked if they had found anything.....yes you have a fracture. Island Doctors failed to tell this so now I'm looking at possibly getting surgery done on a messed up finger! Needless to say I'm no longer with Island Doctors. read more

I can go as a walk in and be seen when they are open anytime. I appreciate all the free supplements and other services that are provided. They are open on Saturdays. The doctor I was scheduled to see was abrupt,rude and past judgement on my condition by stating if you had that neurological disorder for that long you should've learned to live with it.He stated that I don't hand out narcotics if that's what you want insinuating I was only there for pain meds.Not once did he perform the most basic exam to include blood pressure or pulse or listen to my lungs.He didn't even have them available. The office on Hospital street is awful. No professional personal at all. You do not tell a woman who has gone through breast cancer you never heard of a breast doctor. I called my "breast doctor" to find out what was her title. Breast specialist is what she goes by in Marietta GA and works for a breast center. I felt that if you could not understand my meaning, I did not want you to be in charge of my health. If I could give them a zero review, I would most certainly do so. They are so unprofessional and do not care about their patients at all. I had to go into the office this to request referrals, I have lung cancer and it's of the upmost importance that I get needed medical care. I asked for referrals for 2 different specialist to have tests done that my oncologist is requesteing. They said that they called my doctor and saud they were told no one had requested any tests. Well, not an hour later, my surgeon called island doctors and advised oh yes, we do need the testing that Mrs. Ulrich told you she needed. They didnt want to see my paperwork confirming your had cancer. It's always a fight with them to get anything done!! They have a patient with cancer and they still don't care and have no empathy! Stay clear of this office if you can. And they will respond to this comment to contact them with any concerns. Michelle, the office mgr is who you'd be contacting and she will do nothing.pretty sad. Offices are unclean, staff is abrupt...and doctors still use paper files instead of electronic. If you ever see the same doc, or PA twice that is amazing. I am new to these doctors as my primary doctor retired early because of an accident. They have been most uncooperative in getting my medications. I have had a 90 day supply with a mail order company for years. I cannot afford a 30 day supply. They tell me this is their policy. I called my pharmacy and then talked to a medicare rep. She said they were interrupting my therapy and should sign for my 90 day supply immediatly. I called their office. Will not do. read more

Went there in September 2018 first visit. Stomach extremely distended and painful. Saw a PA not a doctor. Three more visits did blood work nothing else, said I had acid reflux. In November still in pain went to another doctor, acid reflux apparently turned into ovarian cancer. Not sure where they got their degree's but not doctors of medicine. Don't go here! read more
