All their proceeds go to rescuing dolphins and the dolphin hospital they are currently building in the Florida Keys. We did the "Connect to Protect" proves with my 7 year old and had an absolute blast. We got to interact with the dolphins, swim with them, give them kisses. I was genuinely worried that once we got in the water, I wouldn't be able to do it. From the moment we arrived at Sailfish Scuba, we were welcomed like old friends. The boat ride out was enjoyable, and the entire crew--from the dive guides to the captain--was incredibly personable, knowledgeable, and reassuring. My companion has more than 50 dives under his belt, so he gave T, the owner, a heads-up that this was my first dive and that I was pretty nervous. T got in the water with me and stayed by my side throughout our descent. When I started to feel that familiar panic setting in, he calmly kept me moving down while continuously checking on me and making sure I was okay. I'm so grateful he did. If I had been left to descend on my own, I honestly think I would have surfaced several times and possibly not completed the dive at all. Having T right there gave me the confidence I needed to push through that initial fear. Once I was down, everything changed. I became much more comfortable, and by the next three dives, I was able to descend completely on my own. My companion, who is an experienced diver, said Sailfish Scuba is one of the best dive companies he has ever been with--and after my experience, I completely understand why. The professionalism, knowledge, and genuine care this crew showed made such a huge difference for me as a new diver. I went from being terrified that I wouldn't be able to do the dive to finishing it feeling excited and confident about getting back in the water. He is patient, calm, knowledgeable, and an excellent teacher. He explained every skill thoroughly, made sure I understood everything before each dive, and gave me the confidence I needed to succeed. We purchased our tickets online for the Glass Bottom Boat Tour which allowed us to pick the day and…read moretime and avoid the check-in lines at the park once we arrived, we also have our Florida State Park annual pass which allows easy entry into Pennekamp Park. We found a seat under the blue tent next to the dock which is used to stage the guess, they start boarding 15 minutes before the departure time and it's really a simple task even though they still manually check-in each guest as you board the vessel verses simply scanning the QR Code on the ticket or app. The 65' Catamaran is clean and spacious and the crew is extremely friendly, the tour guides are very knowledgeable and bubbly so they make every effort to make it fun. You can bring your non-alcoholic beverages on board since they no longer operate the snack bar, they do have (2) heads at the rear of the boat (restrooms). Once the boat leaves the dock it's a slow ride through the mangrove lined canal to the open water, the no wake zone continues until you pass the last navigational buoys, then he kick it up to about 18 knots until he approaches the reef I think that ride was about 25 minutes, it a nice relaxing ride, the interior cabin is air conditioned but the real adventure is on the open air top deck where the breeze is refreshing and you get the real outdoorsy experience. Once the boat arrives at the reef the captain brings the vessel to an idle and the viewing wells turn crystal clear exposing another world, the water depth over the coral reef is between 10' - 25' and the tour guide explains the viewing well numbering system so you know where to look while she explains what the boat is crossing over - she is very knowledgeable and explains everything you see - all the colorful fish and sea-life which is abundant as well as the coral types and objects that rest on the bottom. The tour runs about 2.5 hours and they take no short cuts so you get the total experience. They allow just enough time to get you back to the dock on time and honestly as much as I enjoyed it I was ready for it to be over, the ride back was not as exciting as the ride out and I found myself looking at my watch often - I thought it was a good value and worth the time but once is probably enough for me - the boat was about half filled so it wasn't crowded with about a third being kids and there's no doubt they loved it...

They gave lots of info on avoiding seasickness & I didn't see anyone suffering. We took a camera but there wasn't a need. Cell phones are enough. I used my binoculars & only used them a bit to see birds in the mangroves. You can take plastic bottled drinks on board. You might not want to wear a hat. We stood on the front deck & it was perfect. It's with the $36 ticket for a 2.5 hr. excursion. Masks required inside.

He was very accommodating in finding a day and time that worked for us, very hospitable, and had a great personality! Charlie texts you several times before the boat day, to make sure directions on everything are clear- I really appreciated receiving the EXACT directions with pictures and precise details. His "Tiki Tiki" boat was brand new and beautiful, and I enjoyed bringing our own drinks and snacks on the boat (he parks next to a food boat, if you'd rather buy food). The sandbar was a lot of fun, and Charlie brought many toys for us to play with on the water (kayak, rafts, beer pong table, noodles, etc). Definitely enough equipment to keep you busy for the day! The sandbar was a bit busy (even on a weekday), but he tried to find us an area where no one was blaring their music, so we could play our own. Charlie took several pictures and videos for us that he emailed us later in the week. I really enjoyed having all those, in addition to mine. Only constructive criticism I have, would be that I booked a half day "tour", and had mentioned going snorkeling and doing the catch/release of baby sharks. I was under the impression that was all set up as the plan for the day. However, we went straight to the sandbar and spent the day there; little bit of a letdown as we wanted to do other activities as well- other than that it was a great day! The water was clear, we saw some fish (and lots of dogs), and the weather was perfect- we had a great day with Captain Charlie!
