We had an excellent lunch here. The pin drop for the Yelp directions were a bit off. We had to backtrack from them and head into the Walmart shopping center. The restaurant is located on the west side strip of stores and restaurants -- next to a Chinese restaurant. The place is airy and bright. It's pretty basic inside. There are a few four top tables and a couple two tops for dining in, although the do a lot of takeout. You order and pay at the counter. You can see your food displayed. The menu is on the wall above. You help yourself to drinks from a cooler. We both got the lunch brown stew chicken in a small size. They also have large, but the smaller one was perfect. You can choose which rice --and we both had peas n rice (rice n peas?), plus sautéed cabbage, and plantains. The chicken comes in a delicious brown gravy and I requested extra gravy on my rice. We sat in to eat -- but all meals are served in takeout containers. The chicken was fall off the bone tender. Everything was wonderful. Prices were reasonable. The staff were friendly. Island Flavor cafe gets all 5 stars from me! I've been recently enjoying different dishes here and I can now say I'm a regular. Clean restaurant. Open hot food area where you can see what you're getting. They let you sample too. The best part of all is they let you get lunch prices on their lunch menu all day long. The oxtail is my favorite here so far but the curry chicken here is also amazing. I tried both their white rice and their red bean rice. Both great. The vegetables are a favorite of mine as well. When you come in the place was clean. The customer service was mediocre. The person behind the counter was not approachable in the beginning. It may be small but the flavor is not! The staff is very welcoming, greats you with a smile every time. It's a great spot for a quick meal but doesn't sacrifice the quality. Tasty food as always. Me and my wife are regulars here now. We come at least nice a week. My go to is the jerk chicken which they use whole chicken and not just like the joints of the chicken like other places. My wife likes the curry chicken which is also flavorful and nice Pieces of chicken. The service is quick and pleasant. The girls working the steam table are ways respectful and that goes a long way. I love the ambience of the place as they have worship music usually when I go in. It's nice to hear uplifting music and not the same old topics usually played on the radio. Long post alert. I follow @_teeze_ on ig. This is the 2nd time that I caught her post when she mentioned Island Flavor Cafe. Because she's a public figure I figured that this place should be good. I went today with this recommendation in my mind. I was not disappointed. First impression, clean. The ladies serving the food were pleasant with some calmness about them. This service followed thru. I ordered several things. My food was carefully prepared and packaged. The food area stayed clean all thru my meals being prepared, no food splashed everywhere. I also picked up 3 juices. All 3 of them had minimal ingredients plus sugar in two of them, so basically the fruits, some had water and some sugar that's it. I drove home carefully so I wouldn't spill the gravy or soup in the bags. I quickly opened my packages. No spillage from not even 1 of them. OMG what kind of goodness is THIS I thought. I tasted the soup, it was burning hot. No cold soup, no need to reheat. I could sip it right away. The food was amazing. I got the curry goat and fried chicken meals, the portions were large. I will return and I will definitely bring my friends and family. read more

We have visited several Jamaican restaurants and this one is one of the best. Customer service was good. Restaurant was clean and portion sizes are adequate. Discovered this place a long time ago before anyone even made them a yelp. They have the best customer service I've ever experienced at a Jamaican food restaurant EVER. I've gotten everything they make including some of the vegetarian meals. But what I really love is how the spicy foods are actually spicy how they should be. Curry goat had me sweating just how I like and same with the jerk chicken. I only wish they had fresh salad instead of steamed. I absolutely LOVE EVERYTHING about this Caribbean restaurant! Amazing oxtails omg best hands down! Better than Donna better than golden crust better than Dutch pot! The Mac and cheese is pretty good out of a 10 a good solid 8 only because it can be a hit or miss . Sometimes they over bake it so it becomes really dark on top and a tad bit dry!
