Ain't nothing like getting smacked in the face with the delicious scent of curry when you open the door... I found another nice spot that serves authentic Trinidadian food. Located in the Oakland Shopping Center, this large restaurant definitely has the feel of the West Indies with such a casual and relaxing vibe. After overlooking the menu, I greeted a friendly male employee and placed an order for a double with tamarind & cucumber chutney and trini style Chinese chicken with lo mein and fried rice. Watching the steady flow of people coming in automatically told me that the food here was good, such as: * Roti meals/various roti shells * Doubles/aloo pie/pulorie/various bakes * Lunch specials/specialty items/vegetarian dishes There's also homemade sweets, juices, ice cream, split channa, Caribbean beverages, local & imported beers, and cocktails. Prices are reasonable and they cater. My food was brought to me and I couldn't wait to partake. I started with the double which was very good. The bara had a nice texture and the flavors of both chutneys with the curried channa was delightful, but the most enjoyable dish for me was the Chinese chicken with lo mein and fried rice. The fusion of Chinese and Trinidad flavors absolutely blew my mind, and the chicken was tender and flavorful...wasn't too peppery. Before leaving, I got another double to take home along with some pulorie. I am looking forward to coming back, especially during their lunch special hours.

Singh Roti Shop did not disappoint. I went specifically for the doubles, and they were amazing. I ordered one plain doubles with slight pepper and one with conch. The conch doubles was hands down the better of the two, full of flavor and absolutely delicious. My only small note is that I only got one bara with the conch, so I had to use a fork to scoop up the rest. Honestly, it was so good I didn't mind at all. Still worth every bite. I grabbed a slice of pone to go, and it was the perfect way to end the meal. I was sitting there jamming to soca music while eating, which made the whole experience even better. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. I definitely recommend this spot and will be back.

Very tasty food, options for vegetarians and vegans, as well as meat eaters. Lots of flavor in this food! Their roti is awesome and everything I've had there is very fresh. Reasonable prices and friendly owners as well. Check them out!

Chicken roti and a doubles. So delicious b

First time here at Singh's. I have looked for a really good Caribbean food spot for a while. If you love authentic island foods, and are looking for excellent Roti this is the spot. Definitely worth the drive here. I'll be back soon.

Customer service is top. Food was fresh and came out pretty fast. We will definitely be back to try other dishes. Nice atmosphere with good eats.

Really nice Trini food place! We ordered a few things which included doubles, Veggie plate (came with amazing dal and rice, bodi, chana, and aloo). Food was good overall. The place was empty and we were the only ones on a Tuesday evening. However, we did see a lot of take-outs during our stay there. Place was a little noisy with all the Soca music playing, but that did not bother us at all. Would definitely recommend for anyone who like Trini food!

Today I came for their Sunday special : tomato choka, eggplant choka, salt fish served with naan. With a bottle of water, it costed a meager $8+. What a deal. And the food was fresh and homely. The quantities are huge. Quick service. Has Bollywood music playing in the background giving it a Dhaba or small town restaurant feel. The naan felt doughey but other than that it's a must try if you are into budget friendly ethnic cuisines.

    Sunday Dinner special

Was so nice, I went twice! Took a friend that never had Trini food before, so I'm glad that her first experience was at Singh's Roti delight. We tried bake and shark, doubles, curry goat roti. Curry chicken bust up shot, corn soup, cassava pone and current rolls. Oh lets not forget the polourrie! Everything was nicely flavored, not spicy ( the way I like), but my friend, could not do spicy at all, so it was most enjoyable for her. Of course I added pepper sauce to mines ( true Trini ). The staff was very friendly and helpful. They allowed my friend to taste the curry chicken, she loved it! The next evening I found myself in the same area, thought I'd stop by. Glad I did, enjoyed the Sunday dinner special, tasty indeed. Definitely recommend, will be back when next in town.

Stopped in today because I was craving a roti. It was my first time checking this spot out because I had heard that they were good from Facebook and some other social media outlets. The prices are cheaper than other spots that sell roti and they give you a lot of food compared to other spots. I had the boneless curry chicken dhalpuri roti. It was good, slightly under salted. I got one of the mango passionfruit juices and it was soooo freaking good. I haven't tried the peanut punch yet, but I'm sure it's also amazing. I also got one doubles just for a snack, but it tasted like it had pepper in it and I asked for none so I took a few bites but didn't finish it. It also had the tamarind sauce and the cucumber slaw on it. I like the cucumber slaw, but not the tamarind sauce so I have to remember next time to be specific about what I want on it. Maybe that's the baseline, but it was a bit too much for this American Trini gyal, lol. The ambience is nice, gives you that laid-back island vibe like other comparable spots. The staff are nice and friendly and try to get you out quick if you are waiting on takeout. I'd come back if in the area.

After going to Joys and being disappointed we decided to give this place a try. We walked into this huge restaurant with plenty of seats and tvs all around playing the latest Olympic Games. The guy taking our order was pleasant and had patience with us. We looked at the menu to order and convinced ourselves to give the pholouries with tamarind sauce and saltfish bake a try. The sailfish bake was good just a bit toooooo salty 8/10. The pholouries were well seasoned and the tamarind sauce was nice and not too sweet 9/10. Next time I'll try the doubles!!

Good Trini food. The pepper sauce is a bit watery and can use some improvement but the chickpeas was flavorful and goat well cooked. Doubles were good.

My family and I shared the most delicious meal here! We were warmly greeted, the staff were so nice and accommodating. Customers were hanging out at several tables in the large dining room, sipping on drinks and enjoying the nice Soca music pumping through the speakers. I had a veggie roti, bussup and swapped the green beans for shrimp for a small up-charge. Washed it down with a cold Mauby. My hubby had a goat roti. Our kids are picky eaters so they had boneless wings and fries, there's something for everyone. Singh's is a must stop next time/every time we're in Ft. Lauderdale.

The restaurant is beautiful and I see they had a DJ area so they probably have dancing some nights. My first time trying authentic Trini food. We ordered doubles, aloopie and pulorie for appetizers. They were good but I didn't care for the sweet sauce, I think it might be some tamarind type sauce. I prefer spicy over sweet. For main entrees I had the curry chicken and my date had the duck. IMO it needed some salt bad. The flavors were there but needed something to bring them out. The chicken was a bit dry. The chick peas with roti was delicious. The Pineapple Ginger juice was real good and my date enjoyed his Sorel.

Ever since the renovation they're outside seating is amazing. There are so many choices where you can sit by the bar, high tops tables along the water or even at one of their second bar or other tables a little bit further away from the water. You never have to wait long either because they have so much seating available. It really gives an island vibe when eating at the cove from the high ceilings to the music to the great food choices and especially sitting along the water. You'll also never know what type of boat you might see as well, which makes for a fun time. I think a highlight appetizer is definitely the conquers. They are super flavorful and you definitely get the seafood taste without much filler. I also love the black and mahi sandwich for an entrée. I think that they always give a very nice piece of mahi and the blackened seasoning that they use is not overbearing, but really adds flavor. My favorite drink here is a blue moon on draft. I think that there is nothing better than a blue moon when sitting along the water. If you haven't tried the cove, I definitely recommend stopping by. I think their food is phenomenal. The atmosphere is great and the service is a 10 out of 10.

I've been eating there since they were in their original location connected to Lauderhill Mall, and no matter how many restaurants I've visited as a chef, Joy's has always felt like home. Walk through the front door and you'll see the large photo of Mr. Vishwanath "Joy" Sawh. That picture is more than decoration--it's a reminder of the man whose kindness and passion built a place that has fed generations of South Floridians. I'm grateful I had the opportunity to meet him. He was genuinely one of the nicest people you'd ever want to meet. And the food? Simply outstanding. Their doubles are, in my opinion, the best in Broward--soft, fresh, perfectly balanced, and packed with authentic Trinidadian flavor. It's no surprise they're one of the dishes people rave about over and over in public reviews. The curry goat is tender and deeply seasoned. The curry chicken is rich and comforting. The curry duck is phenomenal. The stew chicken tastes like it came straight from a family kitchen. Pair any of them with their flavorful rice and peas, curry potatoes, or curry chickpeas, and you understand why Joy's has built such a loyal following over the years. But believe it or not... my favorite side is the pumpkin. Funny enough, I used to never eat pumpkin. Mr. Joy himself convinced me to give it a chance, telling me how good it was for me. If you know what I mean I finally listened--and I've been hooked ever since. It's funny how the smallest conversations can stay with you forever. Don't leave without trying their homemade pepper sauce either. It brings just the right amount of heat while letting the flavors of the food shine. As an Executive Chef who's fortunate enough to eat at restaurants across South Florida, I know great food when I taste it. But what separates Joy's isn't just the cooking--it's the heart behind it. The recipes, the consistency, the culture, and the people have made this place a landmark for Trinidadian cuisine. Rest in peace, Mr. Vishwanath "Joy" Sawh. Thank you for the meals, the conversations, and the legacy you've left behind. Your name still brings people together around a table, and that's one of the greatest accomplishments anyone in the restaurant business could ever hope for. Some legacies are written in history books. Yours is written in every plate that comes out of that kitchen.
