Last night was my first time at The Argyle Theatre and we watched The Prince of Egypt. I've passed…read moreby for years and always wondered about the quality of their productions. So my husband surprised me with tickets because he knows how much I love Broadway shows. Some of the standouts of the night were- the singing and the use of the screens. The actors & vocalist did a great job, really no weak links, they were clear, they projected all the way up to the balcony, and they carried a strong stage presence. The stage was set up in a specific way for the entire show but the screens helped to enhance the scenes by projecting different images to suggest a change in setting, making it a lot more interesting to watch. Some songs resonated more than others, solely because of the weight of the message they possessed. Overall, very talented artists on Long Island that we enjoyed watching use their gifts to bring joy to others. It didn't have to be perfect to be of great substance. I will note that they loosely interpret biblical events throughout the show, especially toward the end, so a few scenes might make you go huh, but as artists, they truly made it their own. It's nice to offer Broadway-like shows close to home, and to support the arts within our communities.

Saw the very last showing for the Annie musical for 2025 with my youngest son and it was such a great talented cast, with great scenic and live orchestra! The remodel of the space was done to keep the theater looking like it's always did just cleaner and more comfortable. Although I thought it was a little weird that they ran out of salty snacks at the bar for a full house performance, but regardless the bartenders were so friendly and warm! Will definitely be back to see more shows here!

We performed there on 8/30/25. We are the Soul Jam Revue. The venue is full of that same charm that was there back in the 60's, 70's and on. I walked around taking in the movie shadows boxes (micky mouse) and this brought back so many memories! The seating there is all brand new, comfortable and spacious! I highly recommend getting there for a show in the future. I can't wait to see when they put up the new marquee!

Very disappointing experience performing at this theater…read more Professional musician with decades of experience performing in theaters and venues throughout the region, and this was one of the more difficult venue experiences I've encountered. The theater crew themselves were kind and helpful. Unfortunately, my experience with the talent buyer/manager responsible for our engagement was very different. There were repeated restrictions and complications involving our production, crew member access, load-in, food, and basic hospitality. Our production team members were initially denied access to the theater despite being part of our band's crew. We were told that food was not permitted backstage or in the auditorium, so we ate elsewhere, only to see staff eating pizza in those same areas. Water was supposed to be provided, but we had to specifically ask for it and received three bottles for the 6 hour day. To make matters worse, payment was supposed to arrive within 7-10 days. Two weeks later, the check had still not arrived, and I learned that it had only been mailed three days earlier. The crew were great, and the visuals they provided for our show were actually very good. My concerns are specifically with the management of the engagement and the overall treatment of the performers. Professional performers deserve clear communication, reasonable accommodation, and timely payment. Unfortunately, that was not our experience here. Based on this experience, I would be very hesitant to work with this theater again.

Guess it pays to do research sometimes. As mentioned, the Joel exhibit is what I came for and I wasn't disappointed. There is a LOT to look at and to take pictures of, plenty to read, and a spot where you can put on a pair of headphones and listen to each one of his albums if you want. The set up, layout, and displays are quite good. A lot of Joel's real and actual personal memorabilia is here - they are not props or fake. There are two spots outside of the main Joel room to take photos of yourself mimicking the covers of his Glass Houses and 52nd Street album covers along with a prop for each of those albums nearby. Upstairs there's a small room with seating playing Joel concerts. Any fan of Billy Joel will appreciate this and should go out of their way to come to check this out. Past the main exhibit (Joel) and on the second level is a general Hall of Fame Museum for Long Island with great displays, original items, and memorabilia. From awards to apparel, there is plenty to see with a lot of history. It's one large room, but the displays are laid out well and it should take you some time to take everything in. There is a small gift shop on the first level with items from both the main exhibit and the museum itself. The staff were approachable, very friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable - which goes a very long way these days. The prices are very reasonable. With both the main exhibit and the museum, this is well worth a trip. I'm unsure how much longer the Billy Joel exhibit will remain up, but it's something any fan of Joel's should come and see.

CM Performing Arts Center in Oakdale NY does a number of performances. Not only well known works as…read morethe up coming Addams Family the Musical, new works as The Area between Us written by Ashlyn Frank , a variety of children's shows and, as well , a combined effort murder mystery in a church for a fundraiser. Sin & Gin was a fun and cute performance of a 1920s theme murder mystery. It took place in the Saint Ann's Church in Saville NY, as a combined effort of the Church, along with People's Arc of Suffolk . The write up is a service for Edith Corse Evans' a fellow member who had died 10 years before, who heroically gave up her seat for her friend on the Titanic (Edith was a real person who gave up her seat for Caroline Brown) when one seat on the life boat was left, knowing she had children to go home to. As in most stories this one had name changes. (You know; when you see that list at the end noting any resemblance to real people is strictly coincidence) The Cast who I must applaud all stayed in character, no matter what questions that I asked them. They and many of the parishioners who came to pay their respects, were also dressed in 1920s attire. Of course after the service, a FRONT, they sneakily took a trip to the back River Room where all kinds of things happened including a rousing evening of booze, jazz and ---MURDER! (See pix + Videos) Dinner was included in the ticket price of $75.00. As was one complimentary glass of wine or beer, courtesy of Loughlin Vineyards with an open cash bar for more. For the fund raiser they also had tickets for purchase a 50/50 a door prize basket and other raffle baskets. CM Performing Center is one of the Long Island theaters for live performances.
