Over the years we've seen some incredible performances over the year, from Vic DiBitetto - Tara Cannistraci, Christmas performances to various concerts. Did I mention free parking? I mean, you have free parking at Westbury Music fare but its a nightmare once the concert is over. At The Staller Center, everyone leaves in an orderly fashion, there's no rushing after you leave the performance. Hey, we're polite in Stony Brook! The Staller Center has a very nice seating arrangement. The seats are positioned where you aren't contorting to the side if a giant sits in front of you. The acoustics for the theatre are also of high quality, I heard iLUMINATE rock this theatre with their amazing sound! We're all proud of our town and The Staller Center for the Arts is the crown jewel of the neighborhood.

Yeah, the carpets are old and need to be replaced, decor is old too but who cares! PJ Cinemas opened in 1973 and has stayed open for a reason! Its charming, those walls carry so many memories and history! People are smiling and happy to share what brings them to this theatre! The staff are so friendly, the tickets are little pieces of paper like back in the day and the prices are unheard of. Tickets are $10 for adults $7.50 for seniors. There are combo deals like the one that cost me $10.50 tonight for a small popcorn I couldn't even finish, small drink and candy!! What???? The theatres have seats you can choose when you walk in, no assigning seats here. You can choose to sit somewhere else if say a person with a big head chooses their seat in front of you. This has happened too often and I love I have options now. There are old fashioned seats that rock. For me, I dont need to recline like I'm watching the movie in my bed! I found my new theatre! No more paying $30-40 for a night out at the movies for me anymore! I wish more businesses could turn back the clock and make us feel like what times used to be like. The popcorn was fresh (which always matters more than it should), and everything ran smoothly. Most importantly, Mikey had an awesome time at the movie, which is really what it's all about. What really stood out too was their pricing for birthday parties and events--very reasonable, especially for how easy they make the whole experience. Great spot for kids' parties--welcoming, stress-free for parents, and definitely a place we'd come back to.

I was even more hesitant when I only paid $19 for a newer movie. However, after I saw the theater showroom I was pleasantly surprised. They offer a wide variety of snacks at the concessions, as well as the usual Pepsi beverages. I purchased three small, but substantial, drinks and a large popcorn with one free refill for $21.25. The theater has plush, leather-like chairs (no recliners) and the entire place was either clean or being cleaned; this is a very tidy place. The best part yet was after traveling to two larger, more popular theaters and told they were sold out, this place was wide open. This place is great to take kids and family for a night at the movies. You can enjoy a movie, popcorn, and drink without having to take out a loan, which is required at most theaters.

The bathrooms were clean, which is always a huge plus for us. There was popcorn everywhere in the halls though. Staff: The staff was incredibly nice and helpful throughout our visit. Parking: There is tons of parking in a huge shared lot, and they have a wheelchair ramp available if you need it. PRO TIPS: 1-The main entrance does not face the road. Don't make the same mistake I did--you don't need to climb the outside stairs! 2- It was a bit warm in the hallways while we waited for the show. The theater itself was a little cooler, but during the heatwave, it struggled just a little bit to totally beat the heat. I would definitely tweak that during 90+ degrees. They offer free refills on popcorn so we shared a small ($6.50) & got a refill. It was pretty bad popcorn (but to be fair, I think all movie popcorn is terrible. I prefer to air-pop my own at home). Even though we sat in the last row, the way the seats are built, we had to look up; a bit of a strain. The sound was way too loud for such a small theater. $8 bargain Tuesday, but also all matinees for seniors are $8 so prices are good (especially if you are a senior or can go on Tuesday). Definitely better than the chains.
