Never again. Let me start by stating I've waited a week to post this review as I was told the owner would reach out to me immediately by location manager and no reach out was ever made. I've used Island for our pet boarding needs a few times over the years. Typically no issues, but this time was unacceptable. Boarded my pet for a week while traveling on summer vacation with my family. In the middle of my dog's stay received a text from island stating there was an issue with my dog. Per manager it looked like "he'd scratched his eye on something" and it wasn't serious. Manager was adamant that Island was not at fault, and my dog scratched himself. Fair. Things happen. Cut vacation short to pick up my pet immediately to get him to the vet (one day early). Asked to be refunded for the 1 day, and for the owners contact information. Was told by manager that neither was possible. After several minutes of back and forth I let the manager know "forget it, I can find the owner info on my own...and if you can't refund me that's fine, just give me my pets belongings and I would handle on my own". Manager left the front desk, fumbled around for a few minutes, came back and apologized that they couldn't find his stuff. At that point the manger reached in the cash register, pulled out a $50, apologized, and all of a sudden was able to refund for the 1 extra day. Less than a minute later, another dog walks by with my dogs toy in his mouth. Really? With that, took him straight to the vet and $400 later was told he had an infection that can only be contracted from other dogs...far from the "scratch he did to himself". I will never use this establishment again. For a few extra dollars will defer to Petsmart where corporate regulations will offer a safer environment for my pet, and overall a better experience for him, me, and my wallet. read more

Would give 0 stars if we could. UPDATE: our older dog looked worse and worse after picking him up and taking him home. Normally, he loves food; but he refused to eat both times we tried to feed him during the day. He couldn't walk properly and laid down with his eyes half open and looking like he was at the end (photo attached). We took him to the ER and was told that we should say our goodbyes tonight and euthanize him by the end of the day tomorrow. Again, please do not take your pets here. ------------------------------------ We don't understand how this place is so highly rated. We will never use their services again. If you care for you pet, avoid this daycare. We entrusted our 2 dogs with Island Pet Resort for 6 nights and received them back covered in pee and poop. 1 of the 2 dogs was so bad that the daycare gave him a free shower right before they handed him back to us. They tried to hide from us that his entire body was covered in poop and pee as well. My dog is 12 years old with diabetes. We left them detailed instructions regarding his food and medicine. However, he had diarrhea in the car on our way home. He was also unable to walk or stand properly and was extremely traumatized when we picked him up. He was extremely dehydrated and was not taken care of properly. I also provided a new bag of dog diapers for my old dog for them to change several times a day. However, only 6 in total (1 per day) was use during their 6 days of stay. This makes us believe that our dogs were locked up in their cubby all day and not checked on. They also promised 3 walks a day for our dogs. But that clearly was a lie based on the condition we received them back in. Once again, if you care for your pet please bring them elsewhere. read more

Gross Negligence! My dog was seen at this facility on June 12th, 2022 to be dematted and groomed. It was at this time that she was severely cut by one of the groomers. Upon taking my dog to the Animal Hospital it was discovered that she was cut so deep that her muscle was exposed. My dog was required to undergo surgery where pieces of dead and infected muscle and skin were removed from the wound, further requiring 7 stitches to seal the wound after surgery. This resulted in a $1,200 Vet Bill AND both my boyfriend and I had to take the entire day off of work. I reached out to Island Pet Resort to request that they reimburse me for the vet bill and was immediately told no. I'm so disappointed. I've had great experiences boarding with them in the past but I no longer trust them to care for any of my animals. Mistakes happen but when they do happen it's important to make it right and Island Pet Resort DID NOT do that. read more

This place is now my go to for dog grooming. After I had a terrible experience at Petsmart! They are reasonably priced,make sure your dog is vaccinated, and they make you fill out a questionnaire on how you would prefer to have your dog groomed. They don't make your dog sit in a kennel or make you wait for your groomer for hours.*ahem petsmart* I didn't catch the groomers name, but he did a good job. I was a little confused on why he decided to shave my dogs bangs off, at least I can see his eyes now? I wouldn't hesitate nor think again about not coming here. My cocker spaniel stayed here for 2 nights. Total paid: $238 (pricey but worth it to make sure my dog is safe and well taken care of). When I came to pick up my dog he's fur was all wet (like he was splashed with water: belly, back legs, head all were wet) and had red bites all over his chest and belly area (seems like he was chewing on himself and no one was paying attention). Island pet resort is open from 9am to 4pm. After 4pm, the lights are turned off, pets locked away in their crates, doors shut. No one comes to check on the dogs until the next morning. I requested to have a video camera set up in my dog's crate, they said it's $5 when I asked to have it set up when initially made the reservation a few weeks before my dog's stay then it became $10 on the actual day of drop off, eventually they just didn't set it up. My dog came home trembling, wet, bites everywhere and has digestive issues. He is having trouble passing stool. I don't think he was walked (and my dog only goes to the bathroom if he's outside). When I came to get my dog, he was very excited to see me, but the owner, David, came and locked him in the crate before I could say hi to him first. At the point, my dog is squealing and howling and trying to jump out of the crate to get to me. Davis said "I have to pay him first." Even though the full amount was paid when I first dropped off my dog. He stated that "he has no record of me paying." Only after I pulled out the invoice his staff has given me AND my credit card statement showing the payment and the processing, did he let me see my dog. My dog was squealing the whole time, trying to get to me. After finally releasing my dog from the crate, I packed his stuff to leave. Meanwhile, David was locking up the place. The entirety of the time a dog was screaming in one of the crates (I couldn't see the dog, they are locked up in a separate dark room). No one came up to console or check on the dog. 5 minutes after we left, I saw David lock up the store front and drive off. I hope the other dog was ok.. My advise, DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE!!! This is not a pet friendly place, David has a different business and I believe this is some kid of a side hustle. read more

King always has a good time at Island pet resort. I trust them and they always make me feel comfortable leaving him there. They also have cameras where you can check on your fur baby while you are away! They are located in a convenient area and always attentive and available. I wouldn't choose any other facility. They keep you updated and although a bit pricey it's all worth it knowing your fur baby is being taken care of the best way possible! read more

My girlfriend and I took our dog, Kapri, to Island Pet Resort to be groomed. While grooming her, they cut her very badly. They told us the cut was not bad and it was only a surface cut. Kapri was there for five hours and they did not contact us to tell us they had cut her, we had called them asking how much longer it would be and that is when they told us about the cut. The veterinarian told us her cut was deep and that the muscle beneath it was exposed. So far they have done nothing to try and reconcile the situation after we had spent roughly $1200 for a mistake they made and were trying to cover up and come out of unscathed. read more

We used Island Pet Resort for technically 8 days to care for our Cairn Terrier while we were away and we are so extremely happy with the entire experience. Before booking our dog's stay I called and spoke with Dawn to see if I could visit first and she was friendly and welcoming. When I popped in she gave me a tour and answered many questions. Although she was new to the business she clearly loved animals and was very warm! Later I spoke to Kathy when I was booking and she was also a pleasure to work with. She was friendly, kind, and later went above and beyond by texting me updates about our boy, she even sent some videos and pictures. She clearly listened to us about his character and I could tell she got to know him during his stay. I also got to speak to a gentleman (whom I believe may be the owner) and it was clear he takes pride in the place. The whole space is spotless and over the top regally designed. The quarters for the animals are sufficiently room and have tv's for calming videos, and also cameras for surveillance in each. I liked that at the front desk when you come in you can see a screen inside pretty much every room and animal rooms in the whole place. There is a large enough play space out front (indoors) that dogs can hang out in for most of the day time and dogs are walked 3x a day. It was clear that our boy was well cared for and that the whole staff is passionate and thoughtful. We are lucky to have found this space so close to home. read more

Island pet resort is an amazing place.They boarded my furry baby from 10/7 to10/12 and they took care of my baby like their own. My furry baby is diabetic with dry eyes. She also has food allergies. They accommodated all her needs and provided her insulin shot, gave Yoko her eyes drops and followed her special diet. The owner and the staff were extremely friendly and dedicated to my baby . They provided me with pictures and updates of her almost every day She was so excited in all the pictures that showed me she was in good hands . Dawn and Tyrese were simply amazing .
