This one is on the bay side of the island (hence the name, duh!) and in September, it was still pretty buggy, so absolutely make sure you bring bug spray/netting/etc with you. I've heard the one on the beach side is a little more forgiving in that regard. However, what you get here is a lot more of the ponies. Now, keep in mind that you're supposed to keep your distance, but the ponies themselves do not care. They'll wander into the middle of your camp while you're making coffee to scratch themselves on a cooler. They'll steal food if they can, so make sure you lock everything up in your car. Do you like being awoken by a loud whinny in the middle of the night? This campground is for you. Make sure you bring longer tent stakes for the sandy conditions, and if it's warm, something to block the sun, because most of these sites have little in the way of shade or privacy. They are really great though. The bathroom facilities are good.

I plan a spring and fall trip, and always stay at Sun Outdoors. My favorite rv sites are near the beach access and the tiki bar. I really liked that the waves were minimal, because who likes getting their asses handed to them when all you want to do is relax in the water for the afternoon. Sounds like On nice days a lot of boats pull up to hang out as well which is super cool. Overall I'd pick Roaring Point over OCMD any day because it's less crowded and more chill. My friends and I were basically the only people there and people typically pay loads of money for that type of exclusivity whereas here it's free.

Jane's Island seems to be known primarily for the camping possibilities. The camping sites, both for tents and cabins, are pretty full during the season. Has a loyal following. Reserve early. Also, fishing is all the rage here. I saw many people fishing from the banks of the water and from kayaks, etc. However, biking possibilities are only average. Hiking is about the same. Crisfield gets a fair number of storms, had a bunch during our visit, and it can affect the grounds, but the area dries out pretty quickly.

The store was also very useful especially with how you can get breakfast before leaving while packing up if you don't want to dirty dishes last minute by cooking yourself. I have stayed in the Heron and Deer Run camp loops and have nothing to complain about. The camp store where I registered my group went smoothly and the staff was friendly and comprehensive in ensuring we knew the rules and information about the park. The camp store also sells their local wood bags for $6.00. I highly recommend buying ice cream as they scoop generously at a reasonable price. Their late check-in process is simple as well as they'll have your car placard outside for you to grab with your name on it if you reserved it online ahead of time. There's plenty of things to do around if you know what to look for! If you're camping during the summer, you can enjoy a kayak or canoe rental near the camp store. You can also visit the nature center, walk the trails around, or go fishing - plenty of things to do! All in all, I would return - but would try out water's edge loop. I didn't realize it was so close to the Camp Store's showers and toilets. Highly recommend this place!
