Dreaming of warmer weather and my next vacation to Ocean City Md... I found a couple of pics from my last trip to Sun Outdoors. I can't believe I haven't reviewed this resort yet. I plan a spring and fall trip, and always stay at Sun Outdoors. My favorite rv sites are near the beach access and the tiki bar. Their specialty is crushes, fresh squeezed fruit beverages and some evenings there is a live band and a roaring beach campfire. Ahhh, the good life! read more

The campground has nice water access. The. views are beautiful. Campsites have lots of room, especially in the gated section However, bathrooms and showers are not clean. The laundry room we used ( gated section) was very dirty Mini golf has 9 holes and was fun but the putters are broken! The employees are very nice but there are not enough of them to keep the facilities up to a good standard We will come back but hope to see some major improvements Thanks read more

My wife and two of our daughters just spent a week in a cabin. Came in Sunday leaving tomorrow. After reading some reviews about the cleanliness we cleaned the cabin top to bottom with bleach wipes and rags. Wed. Hits and we are all sick from the dust we kicked up off the ceiling fans and flat surface. Not happy As far as teenagers go it's typical teen behavior but the bad apples are not talked to or disciplined. My complaint is there seems to be different rules for some campers than others. For example, If you have your own souped up golf cart your 12/14 year olds don't get pulled over and drive about 20 miles an hour all hours of the day and night. Where if you rent a cart your 16 year old who has been driving for about a year and is getting her license in 2 weeks was told not to drive it again just because she didn't have a license. Or they will take it from us. Cable issues, WIFI is terrible, Staff can be rude but nice for the most part. read more

Don't know if this is the norm, but the kids ran wild when we were there. Not unusual to see young children, clearly not old enough to drive (under 16), driving around (dangerously) in Go-Carts by themselves. read more

we camped recently 5/1-5/6. was pleasantly surprised. right in between AssaTeague Island and Ocean City. Only 6 miles to either one! Sites very nice size. shout out to Mara, activities director! she made it a fun weekend with the activities Will be back!. read more

This place is very nice, my family and I camped here for the first time while we were visiting the beach and it was extremely welcoming. The campground is quiet and peaceful and is very close to both ocean city and Assateague Island with shuttles to both. There is also plenty of things to do within the park as well such as swimming, golfing, and hanging out by the parks own little beach. Would definitely return! read more

This is a really nice area to camp in as there's a lot to do nearby. Ocean City is around the corner while Assateague Park is close, with plenty of restaurants, bars, and shopping too. There's a lot going on at Castaways too they've got two pools and Sinepuxent Bay for swimming and fishing. Camp sites are large with all amenities including WiFi and cable tv. Clean bathrooms are strategically located throughout. Staff are friendly as are most campers. I would gladly return. read more

Great place for a family, especially one with an RV. It's a camp site that happens to have a beach, but they only have about 10 tent sites. The beach is kind small, but does have a cute tiki bar with live music and dock to fish or crab off of. The sites are clean, the bathrooms are plentiful with showers, and there is a pool. The general store is reasonably priced with wood, ice, and any other amenities you need. There is a fitness room, an arcade, an ice cream shop, mini golf, shuttle to ocean city and assateague, and golf carts to rent. As just two adults, this definitely felt like a more family oriented adventure. Also, recommend an RV for this location as the prices may seem high if you're just planning to tent camp. read more

A beautiful and fun campground with the exception of the golf carts. We spent 4 night over the July 4th weekend, you literally take your life into your hands trying to walk around especially at night. So many golf carts speeding around, driven by obviously underage drivers ( Saw one adult using the cart as a driving lesson), Drivers openly drinking and driving. It was absolutely ludicrous. Either control them or ban them! read more

Overpriced, first our site was 9" off level, grass needed cutting. Then our family favorite WAS the ice cream shop, we would take the whole family and our guests at least twice a day, we loved the Hershey ice cream, but when we went this year we got 2 single scoops and it was $13! The portions were pathetic- literally once the ice cream curled over inside the scoop that was that they called a scoop! Next night we went into Berlin got homemade ice cream and it was $2 dollars cheaper and it was all we could do to finish!! It's definitely worth the short trip there for sure, and we got to see some of the local area, highly recommend. read more

This was our first stay at Castaways, and we are already talking about going back in the future. The grounds are very nice, and the deluxe sites are worth it. The water was a two second walk from our trailer! It's well maintained and very clean as well. The staff were excellent; an activities coordinator drove around in the evening to make sure everyone was settled and doing well. Erin, the bartender we met twice at the tiki bar on site, was a wonderful bartender with a friendly smile and quick service. The camp is VERY dog friendly, easily ranks #1 in that regard of any campground we have ever stayed at. There are several dog runs, a dedicated Bark Beach, and a dog wash station! Expect to see plenty of pooches on your stay here. And the tiki bar I mentioned? A great fun place to meet your fellow campers and have a drink. Best of all, it is 21+ so you can feel free to have your adult time without worrying about little ears overhearing. The drinks were good and made with fresh ingredients. read more

Beautiful campground. We were lucky enough to get a site near the water with beautiful views. Lots to do and for young and old. Caught a 22 inch flounder right off the bulkhead. Well Kept grounds and the Castaway club is the best with e huge sites and plenty of privacy and space. Tiki bar is a plus. Kid and dog friendly. Both hibachi and fire ring provided. read more

This review has nothing to due with Covid. No one answers the phones! Not even the after hours emergency number! the first cabin we check into was nothing like the "online photo!" No porch! No outdoor furniture! No picnic table! Plywood on the windows! The second site has trash in the fire pit! Mattress pads were gross and again no answer on the phones!!!!!! The front sliding door does not unlock with the key either! totally not worth the amount of money!!!!! read more

Wonderful! So close to everything but a nice hideaway from the business of OC. Assateague is so close and the seafood in the area is amazing . Would love to give this 5 stars. Great campground, very clean. Few suggestions for the management: your WiFi is from 1989... definitely needs an upgrade. Would be able to bring the family more often and work out of my camper, but not here. Even poor cell phone coverage for AT&T users. Had to leave the campground to get a signal. Cable TV was very poor reception; couldn't even watch weather/news locally. Would recommend pool and basketball courts staying open (and lighted) until 10 with quiet hours after 11. Closing a pool at 5pm is way too early. Maybe even light the dog park ... and keep it open until 10. All of these are central to your store... which again should stay open later when people need items. It too closes 5pm on weeknights and 8 on Fri/Sat. Everything closes way too early for what we pay for. Should be noted too on your website that beach shuttle does not start until after mid June, despite paying prime season rates. Kids and teens had limited activities due to everything closing up by dinner. I've seen complaints about the WIFI on here for years. I'd like to see how fast the response it with a solution. read more

Life is good, no life is great at Castaways RV Resort in Ocean City, MD. Sites are big, lots of great amenities including beautiful pool, beach with tiki bar, fishing pier Kayak rentals, arcade, store, fitness center, ice cream & coffee shop and lots of planned activities. Very pet friendly with 2 dog parks, dog beach and nice dog wash. This place is top notch, clean & friendly! This is now one of my summer favorites! read more

Just spent a week here at castaways on a recommendation. Although overall the campground was nice I hated the airstrip right next door. Those planes started going taking off about 6 am & they weren't quiet! Add to that it was biker week & although I normally have no issue w bikes, I do not want to listen to roaring Harleys all day! I'm looking for peace & quiet, especially during Covid! I will probably not return because of the noise. read more

Needed a last minute getaway. I have seen the signs for Castaway from previous trips and when I saw they had availability decided to give them a try. We had a family of four in a cottage with a screened in porch, queen, bunk with full and twin. We also brought along our dog. Surprisingly, sharing one bathroom didn't make us look at each other in hate. We had a great time everyone from the adults to the teens to the pup. We enjoyed the beach and bark beach (which are basically one in the same). Water was low and there was a sand bar, so nice and relaxing time on the water. Got the kids stand up paddle boards to rent for an hour. My favorite was the tiki bars by the pool and beach. Kids enjoyed the pool, basketball court and ice cream shop. Husband was able to work from the cottage. The wifi is not the greatest but that worked to keep the kids off their devices. We rented a golf cart and enjoyed using that to transport gear to the beach. We have plans to return again. Near Food Lion, outlets and other stores. read more

We have gone to Castaways RV Resort and Campgrounds several times. Each time was great. Let me tell you about our last trip. We planned our trip for May 2019 the previous trip and made our reservations in September 2018. We were excited that we would get our favorite site near the beach. Late September my husband was diagnosed with stage 4 Cancer. We were devastated of course and didn't think we would be able to travel. When May came he felt well enough to drive our Class C RV. I called Castaways and explained his situation. I was told not to worry, everything would be ok. When we arrived there was a staff member there to greet us. He unhooked our car, drove the camper to our site, pulled it in and hooked us up to water, electric, television, and even helped with chairs and the awning. When it was time to pack up to leave our Good Samaritan was there. When we were leaving some of the staff took a few minutes to wish us well and waved to us, with tears in our eyes we waved back It was the last trip we made. Eddie passed away in November and was sorry we couldn't go back. It was wonderful and I still hold on to hope that I can go back to Castaways again. read more

If i could give this place a 0 star review I would. the people here are very rude and not friendly. There's people yelling and in the middle of the street late at night drunk. The showers have what looks like black mold and they're not very clean. The pool is dirty. They don't enforce their own rules. This place is way too overpriced and there's not much to do. $2000+ to stay here to have a horrible experience. We won't be back again!! read more

This is the first time we have stayed here. I was super nervous because most reviews say the staff is rude...very rude. But let me tell you this was one of the nicest campgrounds ive ever stayed at. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. We stayed right beside the tiki bar..which can get a little rowdy lol. But a lady who works there brought a golfcart down and parked right in front of our house to watch over our stuff while we were away (we took the top off our jeeo and sat it outside). I thought that was the nicest thing ever. The band is great. The beach is nice. They have so much stuff here you really dont even have to leave at all. THE COFFEE PLACE IS DELICIOUS. The campground is kid and dog friendly. They have a playground and pool. Basketball court. A small dog park. A dog beach. An area you can bathe your pup. Its very nice. Not too rowdy but still fun! Kids are safe to ride their bikes or golfcarts anywhere in the campground. I cant say enough good things. Our rental was very clean. Small, but enough for the two of us to sleep and relax. We had rental 317 right beside the bar and beach...i probably wouldnt reserve this one again only because of the band that plays right outside the bedroom till 11pm lol. It really didnt bother us though because we were out till 1030 most nights. Do not pass this place up!! read more

Let it be known ; We rented a cabin with "a queen bed in one bedroom, and a "full size bed with bunk bed above in 2nd bedroom" in very tiny 2nd bedroom (I felt like was sleeping in a walk-in closet, it was a small room with the full bed up against the wall ) and there was a couch with a pull out bed in living room. Our friends said the queen bed was tolerable to sleep in - that was the only mattress that was thicker then the rest. Now for the bad ; the full bed mattress with bunk above in 2nd bedroom felt like I was sleeping on a wavy box spring with wires sticking out. I tossed and turned and couldn't sleep because of wires jabbing me so I bought a 3" topper mattress to place on top of the box spring mattress and then I slept ok for the rest of the nights . The top bunk was a thin piece of foam mattress. Now for the ugly; The pull out couch also had a very thin piece of foam and you could feel the wires through the mattress. My poor husband slept on the pull out couch and he woke up with a back ache. To alleviate his back ache we took the very thin mattress (very light in weight) from the top bunk and placed it on the pull out couch and it was more tolerable to sleep . We felt like I was sleeping in a low grade motel that advertises on a sign with a neon blinking light stating the special rate of $69 a night versus what we paid $300 for our so called top rated 5 star resort. So be prepared to bring your own foam toppers, blankets, sheets and pillows , towels , decent cookware and pay $300 plus cost of foam topper mattress at an extra $80.. -....I would of tried to have a few glasses of wine to make myself fall asleep or pass out but they did t even have a wine opener so put that on your list to bring with you. **Also if you try calling the reservation number or front desk you can't get a hold of no one . I called multiple times multiple days and spent countless time on hold and can't reach anyone. If this to be a top notch campground as advertised you should be able to reach a live person . The upside is the bayside beach is nice, the tiki bar is nice to get drinks and live music but the mosquitoes were plentiful in the evening and eating everyone alive. As for the swimming pool we never got to use it because we had to go down to the store in the morning and stand in line to get a time slot to use the pool . We heard the line was long so we opted on not standing and waiting. We drove by several times past the pool and there was hardly anyone in it ; from what we can gather there are people who are signing up for there time slot but aren't showing up at there appropriate time (probably got sidetracked with something else to do ) My suggestion would be to let a certain number of people in to use pool (first come, first serve) and when people leave the pool then the next person can go in. This is how they do it at other camp grounds we have been and it works well. Lastly the internet service was non existent - no one in our group could get connected . They need to upgrade there service. SERIOUSLY 1. GET NEW MATRESSES OR TOPPERS FOR YOUR BEDS 2. UPGRADE WI-FI 3. HIRE MORE EMPLOYEES TO ANSWER YOUR PHONE. ***I DID WALK DOWN TO THE OFFICE TO GET INFO ON SOME AMMENTIES AND MENTIONED MY DISPLEASURE WITH THE BEDS to THE WOMAN IN THE OFFICE and she replied she WOULD RELAY TO HOUSEKEEPIING (which that meant my complaint was going no where) . THE OTHER WOMAN IN THE OFFICE AGREED with me AND SAID THEY SHOULD PUT 2" inch toppers on all the mattresses. read more

Super disappointed. This was are 3rd visit to Castaways this season and our 4th to A Sun Resort. I booked our reservation on line weeks ago only to discover upon picking my paperwork up during check in that they moved us. New this year, they have implemented a $25 lock fee. So the fact that you pay a deposit or pay on full guarantees you nothing unless you pay an additional $25. At Castaways you are already paying a premium to stay here and we were paying even more as we opted to stay at Club Castaways and reserved a water front spot online ~ so we were very surprised to find out we didn't get our spot upon picking up our paperwork. They don't inform you prior or anything. I tried to contact them, numerous times, each time there was no answer. read more

We stayed from September 2nd - 5th, 2018. One of our all time favorites and we do 18-20 trip a year. Campground was clean and very well maintained. They had a great beach area on the water and a really fun Tiki bar. The pool was also nice and clean and not crowded. It was a lot like another favorite of ours which is Massy's landing in Hillsboro/Rehoboth DE. Not from from Assateaque Island where we did a few days trips and also went bike riding. read more

We are staying for 8 nights on our way to Maine. This place has been packed since Thursday night. Last night I called security three times regarding our next door neighbor and his brother who occupied the site behind them. Quiet time is 11 PM. After midnight, I called security to complain about the loud noise and partying coming from the camper behind the next door neighbor. Security stated they were already there and getting them to quiet down. Half hour later still partying. Security was there warning them to quiet down otherwise they would call the cops. That did not happen. I called security again at 2:00 am. No answer. They finally went to bed shortly after. I am not coming back. read more

We spent a long weekend here over Mother's Day. It was 3 adults and one puppy. This place was awesome. First, I've never seen so many dogs at a rv park before. There was 2 play spaces, plus a dog beach park, a dog wash area, and dogs were even allowed at the tiki bar. Everywhere we met was really friendly, there was even a woman who drove around just making sure we had everything we needed. Our spot was very spacious. The entire grounds were so clean. Stayed here a few weekends back, first time "Glamping" and what a great experience! The welcoming staff was very kind & helpful with recommendations in the area. We got there really early & were able to check in for an additional cost - very low. Rented a golf cart, stayed close to the shore. No issues with hookups for the camper. They have a shuttle into downtown OC while there). Love that they are pet friendly & have various amenities. Everything was wonderful. Will be returning for sure. (FYI when you are leaving if you are going back to OC, you can park your RV/camper in park & ride - west, I believe. Can't detach the camper, but can ride into downtown via transit. Parking is free, transit $3 pp). read more

This was our first time staying in a cottage. The bedrooms are very small and the hot water only last a few minutes, however the beds sleep nice, the couch is small and we didn't get a cabin with a screened porch. Always try to get that, the flys are bad. All in all it was good the price is a little high but beats monthly payments on a camper. read more

After making my reservations months in advance for two sites together when we arrived they had moved one of our sites. I verified the week prior that are sites were good to go and was told yes. When we expressed concern we were told that we should have paid extra to guarantee them. Really? In the age of COVID this is how you treat people? We won't be staying there again. There are much better campgrounds with better hospitality in that area. Also, it would be nice if you answered your phones once in awhile. read more

Do NOT recommend staying here. We were placed in a cabin that is currently under construction, as well as the one right next to us. Piles of wood were located within four feet of our fire ring, and there is no grill to cook, as there are in other cabin sites. We were woken up to sawing and banging for two days while construction was performed on our accommodations, and their vehicles were blocking our parking space in front of the cabin. Then we went to the front office to ask for an extra garbage bag, to which we were told "NO". We spent thousands of dollars to come here, and they couldn't even provide us a $.05 garbage bag? Programs have also been noticeably cut, as there are basically no activities for kids to do during the week. And security is a joke, as the gate at the entrance is broken. Would not recommend wasting your time and money coming here read more

Great camp resort- wifi is horrible. But the resort itself it very accommodating- wristbands you have to wear are ridiculous- love the tiki bar, the dog beach, water sports available on site. Just a nice place- little pricey but niceWill definitely be returning next year! read more
