The last time we bought rum cake was in Jamaica but this one was SO much better. It was like a zoo trip for hubs. He pointed out the peacocks, turkeys plus they had an in shop Pomeranian and chickens too.

Eventually you will come to a very quaint store and you have reached your destination. The coffee/tea tasting room is there and it is where your tour begins. Parking is available right in front of the tasting room and overflow parking is also available. Make sure you say hi to the parrots and play some 50's music for the birds. The farm tour is via a 6 passenger ATV. That is 5 or less people and their driver. Our your guide gave such great information and history behind the various fruit trees, coffee plants and tea leaf plants. It is a really great tour of the farms. When you arrive back at tour center, you have the opportunity to taste various teas and coffees. They are all for sale (coffee, tea and chocolate). They have the Peaberry coffee which is considered special coffee, higher in flavor and caffeine content. You will learn about the special bean during your tour. You need to go here and spend a couple hours.

I first came across Ka'u local buzz coffee and Paradise Meadows a couple of years ago and decided…read morethat this was the best coffee I've ever had. Same for the Mac Nuts. I immediately subscribed to their newsletter so I could keep up to speed on what they where offering. In a recent trip to Hawaii, we were finally able to visit in person and it was a fun experience. Enthusiastic staff, lots of laughter, delicious fruit slushies, Art Gallery with featured local artists, penny the pig, baby ducks, parrots that would squawk at you until you engaged in conversation. Premium Kau Coffee, Macnuts, chocolate, short bread, slushies, pizza (on the day we were there) made by two Italian guys. Yes please! After we gorged on free samples and margarita pizza, we went on a shopping spree at the well stocked gift shop (not sure if that's the correct term, maybe farmstand?). Since we spent a certain amount on goodies, a discount was given along with free shipping to Alaska (what?!?). It makes me so happy just knowing that places like this exist. My only regret about stopping is that because we were in go, go, go mode to get to a birthday party, we didn't spend nearly enough time here as I would've liked. Next time!

There is something to be said about the view and the fantastic coffee!!!! Wow was it top tier! It feels like a custom tropical treehouse. We sat around her concrete table as we sipped sample after sample of award winning Kona coffee. On the TV we watched a live feed of the volcano. It was such a genuine experience all the way through. She took the time to walk us around the farm and explain the entire process. So much effort goes into making such a delicious cup of coffee. This place is highly recommended. It has extremely limited hours so be sure to be mindful of that .

We were served several tastings of the coffee (7 or 8 small cups) and every cup was delicious! My favorite was the SL34 and I purchased a purchased a pound and half of it. After the tastings, we were taken on a tour around the farm and processing areas and it was so great to see Leslie treat the workers with love and respect. It was genuinely the best coffee farm we had been to...and we've been to several! The view is beautiful as well. The hours are extremely limited so make sure to make plan to come.
