I was in town for a wedding and decided to get a quick tan. I was blown away by how rundown the entry area was. It looked like it hasn't been touched in 10 years. Ripped and worn chairs, dirty floor, ripped wallpaper. The tanning room I went into had holes in the walls from where clothes hooks used to be. I saw the girl clean the bed so I know it was clean but the bulbs seemed weak like they haven't been changed in a while. Owners obviously just don't care. read more

Stopped in Thursday and was happy to see they were open before 9A. Welcomed by Ashley who was so helpful and very sweet. Took the 8 HP (high pressure) tanning option, the beds are awesome and 10 minutes later I was out of there. My kind of tanning! The next time in I purchased tanning lotion for $65... Really? However, it was 20% off and I got a free HP tanning session so that was OK! The facility is immaculately clean, up to the minute equipment and interior finishes are high end... Very nice! read more

Nothing but great things to review about this salon! From their tanning beds, to spray tanning, and even red light therapy. I love how I can either tan or spray tan & hop right into the red light therapy booth after. Their prices can't be beat. Had left a review on their google reviews but it looks to have been taken down so here's my experience here. Just felt like I should be allowed to fairly share my experience without my review being taken down or pushed down by employees leaving reviews like they are on Facebook. Got a spray tan in their versa machine. It was my first one so i wasn't sure how the process went but the girl showed me how to do everything and it was pretty easy. She told me about the barrier cream and the hair net to put on before hand. After the developing time, it barely showed up and the areas that did were splotchy also the bottom of my fee turned dark brown. I left the review voicing my concerns and the owner was nice enough to give me a free redo. I went and the girl recommended I do the dark color and wash it off sooner. So I did. I walked in and noticed there were things to put on the bottom of your feet to prevent the color from getting on your feet, I was not told about it nor did I see it in the room the first time. I got home and could already tell the whole side of my arm was missed (I did the poses as shown on the poster). I waited twice the recommended time to rinse off the tan and it looked like what the medium should have looked like in the first place. I was testing this out to see if I wanted to do it for my wedding that was coming up but I ended up having better results from a bottle of self tanner from Amazon. It was nice of the owner to give me the free redo but the fact that my review was somehow removed from google reviews puts a bad taste in my mouth. Went in to check what specials they had going on at the time. The front desk girls were too concerned about checking their Snapchat accounts rather then assist me in signing up. They were completely rude and condescending. I had to ask 3xs to repeat what monthly specials they were running because she couldn't face me let alone look me in the eyes while speaking to me. I walked out feeling like Julia Roberts did when she went to buy clothes on Rodeo Dr the first time! I took my business elsewhere and the staff and salon at Ultimate Image in Barnegat was more than happy to assist me with signing up for a membership. When will these business owners realize that poor costumer service will make or break any business. read more

Island sun tanning was an extremely clean facility with state of the art equipment. I loved the environment when I went to tan there while on vacation to visit my family in manahawkin. Unfortunately I'm highly disappointed in my spray tan experience there. A girl named Dana sprayed me and I turned out completely orange and blotchy. This completely ruined a trip to AC that I had planned during my stay. The owner should not allow her to be performing sprays on people. I was better off doing the mystic tan. Oh well. I got spray tanned here by Becky for my wedding. She did such a great job! My tan looked so natural and even. I had no streaks or weird marks at all. She also sprayed my mom, aunt and cousin and everyone was so happy with the results, they all bought packages. Thanks Becky! read more

It's clean and very visually appealing and the expected attention to service details is great and, importantly, the price is no better or worse than any other tanning salon. That speaks well for the salon. The big thing going for it is that there are no competitors around, really. The thing that will weigh against it is IF competition comes to the area along with the new development locally, because, aside from two or three staff members there, they have the most UN-likeable customer service personalities EVER-- cold, "BLAH" & unfriendly, just NOT anything to enhance or make your experience there more than a paid-tan with NO personal benefit of pleasantness. The manager is probably the real trendsetter for lousy personality and sour customer service. Just being honest and subjective, based upon my observations (and a few comments from other customers). This IS something I would think about IF I owned this franchise, because there WILL be new business developing and, once THAT happens, we ALL want to spend OUR free-market money on "total service and experience"...and it will impact profit lines at Island Sun Tanning for sure. If NOT for the 'minus-personality factor,' Island Sun Tanning would be a 4-5 star rating, most definitely. That's all :-) read more
