But let me tell you, that patty was flaky, flavorful, and totally hit the spot! Now, the brown stew chicken? Chef's kiss. Cooked perfectly, and the meat was literally falling off the bone. This food was so good, after eating it I was in a Thanksgiving dinner after trans... I am glad I sat towards the back, babe I ate that chicken with my fingers. The curry chicken reminded me of good chicken dumplings without dumplings and the jerk chicken flavor had a subtle bbq taste. It was uhm uhm uhm satisfying good. The vegetables blended perfectly in the rice. The cabbage was served with thin slices of carrots, all I needed was cornbread to mix in it. My stomach was satisfied and my mouth enjoyed each and every bite. FYI it is pricey, but it is worth it. I had two glasses of Jamaican punch. If you do not know about it, shame on you. I have not been to this spot since it was a Cajun restaurant. It's now changed hands 2 times since then. I hope this business stays a while though. The interior is all decked out with Jamaican colors and they have a full bar. I didn't see a menu of drinks, but I visited during lunch and there was no customers dining in, except for me. They seem to be mostly takeout, at least during weekday lunch hours. They have a small lunch menu of mostly chicken items, so I took advantage and ordered the jerk chicken. My 2 sides were rice and peas and plantains. The flavor of the jerk chicken was really good and was just a little spicy, but not so much I couldn't eat it or feel uncomfortable. I really enjoyed the chicken since it was very tender. You receive 2 pieces, a leg and a thigh; the thigh was chopped into 3 pieces. The rice and peas are good and pretty standard as a side. The plantains were very delicious, but this is also one of my favorite sides when eating Jamaican or Columbian food. I also added a drink. They don't have a soda fountain, only a cooler near the register with bottled beverages. They were out of my first two choices during my visit, so I went with a pineapple guava drink which was delicious. All of their bottled drinks in the cooler are imported from Jamaica, so you are getting the real deal. Service is friendly. Even while dining in, you will receive your meal in a to-go container. No points for presentation, they are all about the flavor of the food here. Not my average lunch, but I really enjoyed it. Luckily I visited for lunch, I was able to dine for less than $15. Northeast Houston certainly has a void in Jamaican restaurants, so it's a welcome spot for the Humble area. read more

Just tried this place for lunch today. I work nearby the IAH airport. It was really good! And the service was good as well. I ordered the brown stew chicken lunch plate with Mac and cheese and plantains. I also got a curry chicken patty as well. I am not Jamaican nor Caribbean so I can't speak to the authenticity but man this food was really good. Brown stew chicken is tender and so flavorful. Sides I got were good. The portion size for a lunch plate was pretty large as well. Curry chicken patty was amazing. I could eat just that for the rest of my life and be happy. Definitely give this place a try. read more

In town for work and decided to give this place a try based on the positive reviews. I got the 2 meat combo- ox tails and jerk chicken. They actually forgot the jerk chicken but happily gave me a generous portion of it when I pointed it out. I was surprised by how much oxtail I got! Picture doesn't do it justice. The restaurant and bathrooms are clean. Nice Jamaican music played. Ambiance I rated 6 out of 10. There were very few dine-in customers at 3 pm on a Saturday. The cashier did not understand English. No one greeted us. We asked to dine-in and was told to make our order with the cashier. She continued to play on her phone. She was not able to answer any of our questions about the menu. This was our first time at the restaurant. So she asked the cook to help us. He came from the kitchen looking annoyed rolling his eyes toward the ceiling. I only wanted to know if the fried chicken was white and dark meat. Which he seemed confused about until I asked was the fried chicken legs and thighs only, which they are. In fact all the chicken is dark meat, that may explain the reviews of not getting jerk wings, but legs and thighs, when ordering wings. We ordered and seated ourselves. Customer service was 2 out of 10. Less than 5 minutes after sitting down they called our name. The cashier stated oh your dining in. She said I will bring your food. All food is served in to-go containers. I ordered the fried chicken, peas and rice, and cabbage. The peas and rice were the stars of my plate. They were well seasoned. The chicken although it was seasoned well, was barely room temperature. The cabbage was cold. I was very disappointed, but I figured they seem to have a lot of pickup orders, so attention to orders being hot, may not be priority. I didn't complain I knew I would take the food home to heat up. I would rate the food 2 out of 10. My husband had the jerk chicken, peas and rice and plantains. My husband jerk chicken and peas and rice were delicious. It was very well seasoned and fresh. His plantains were cold; this was the worst thing on his plate. I ended up sharing my husband plate. Thank God he ordered the large plate. He rated the food 7 out of 10. If my food was fresh I would have rated my plate 8 out of 10. I rate restaurant over all on would I come back. The answer is NO! I hope the owner takes a look at this review and make some changes. I ended up getting a chicken patty, and no, they didn't have coco bread, and I got the curry shrimp entree, which came with peas and rice, sweet plantains, and I ordered a dahl puri. I found the food to be good and I would go back. I just wished the plantains were more ripe, so they would've been soft and sweet and just a little less salt in the curry.
