    Curried Chicken Small
    Jazmine S.

Had a much better experience than I did previously as far as being able to order from this restaurant with plenty options available and not yet sold out. This time, I tried the curry chicken and a side of plantains. Was not a fan of the plantains at all, as they were too hard. But the actual plate itself was very flavorful and plentiful. I ordered a small and still had left overs for later. Service was pretty slow but the lady at the front counter was polite. I look forward to trying Ochos Rios again soon.

Delicious food with an authentic taste of Jamaica We had jerk chicken with steamed rice and wet mac & cheese, brown stew chicken rice & peas, and steamed cabbage. It's just getting off with month one under their belt so if you are looking for a taste of the Island come and eat! We will be back

My first visit to this restaurant. This recently opened restaurant boasts a modest Jamaican menu. To say the least, I was thoroughly blown away with my meal. I had the small Curry Chicken with rice and peas and cabbage. The small serving was adequately priced at $12.99; a large portion would set you back $15.59. One word: DELICIOUS! A novel way to order; scan the QR code on the table, order, pay and your food is brought to your table. No fancy digs, this is truly a mom and pop setup that includes a DJ and karaoke on weekends. Includes dine-in and take-out. I'm looking forward to returning to have the jerk chicken and hopefully bump up the rating to 5 stars. UPDATE: Returned for lunch and had the jerk chicken and the chicken in brown gravy. We and to patronize this restaurant so it stays around. 04/14/2023

Went to Texas City Dike for the morning and boyfriend wanted TexMex on the way home. I found this little gem on Yelp and said "do you trust me?". He had the curry chicken and I had the brown stew chicken. Both were very, very yummy. Folks were very friendly. Everyone we saw was grabbing food to go, so hope they stay busy and keep serving this authentic, flavorful fare.

The fish was not seasoned good and the French frys was not seasoned as advertised. This is all I have to say on that.

Really good food & hospitable workers. They let us sample a few things before we ordered. Food is cooked fresh and came out really hot and yummy.

The sandwich was delicious - I was expecting mostly meat, but there was corn and peppers that nicely complimented the chicken. Overall, all the flavors were delicious, The portions were definitely more than enough, and everything was reasonably priced. My order came out quickly, and they were very friendly! Everything was so delicious, moist, flavorful and soft. The rice was just a little bland, but it was great in texture and made a nice filling carb for the meat n starch. The chicken was so tender, juicy, savory, bitter, spicy and a little sweet all in one. The flesh was juicy and the skin had some chew to it. It was coated in spices and some glaze. Very consistent and thankfully all dark meat pieces. The collard greens were refreshing, earthy and had a unique, buttery aroma to them. They weren't bitter like some recipes in other places. I love collard greens both exactly like this one and more on the bitter side too. The plantains were thick, creamy in feel and nicely sweet like a little dessert. Love plantains in all forms like I do greens. The service was very welcoming, friendly, helpful and efficient. I plan to also try the curry chicken and oxtails on future visits. I also really liked how the food at this Caribbean / Jamaican restaurant when dining in comes on presented plates as opposed to only cluttered in a takeout container like other places.

I asked for a chicken roti, they were out, and out of any roti for that matter. My husband wanted curry goat, they were out of goat. I ended up getting a beef patty and jerk wings which were too tough, I could hardly chew them. I also ordered some Collard greens which were just okay. I overheard a phone order that they were processing where the person asked for red snapper fish, they were out of that. The only fish they had available was salmon. But if you take a look at their extensive menu you would see they offer many different types of fish. And lastly, we arrived at the rice and peas (which my husband calls them being stingy on the serving size). The amount of rice given is the smallest serving size of rice and peas I've ever seen served in a Caribbean restaurant. It's not nearly enough to go alongside the rest of the food. Be prepared if you order to go, you'll probably need to order a side of rice in addition to what they give you. The service is good, it's always good, they are friendly and helpful, but it doesn't make up for what they lack in food.
