The pernil plate was outstanding -- the pork was perfectly seasoned, incredibly tender, and had that amazing crispy edge that makes pernil so special. The portion was generous and paired perfectly with the sides. We also tried the tripletas, and they were fantastic. Packed with flavor, juicy meats, and perfectly balanced with the bread and toppings. Easily one of the best tripletas we've had. The yucas were cooked perfectly -- crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and great for dipping. They were a perfect side to the sandwiches. For the kids, we ordered the chicken strips from the kids menu, and even those were great. Crispy, well seasoned, and the kids loved them. Overall, the food, flavor, and portions were excellent. If you're looking for authentic Caribbean comfort food, El Caribeño is definitely worth visiting. We'll absolutely be coming back!

Normally you order at the front desk, but they helped us in our table since we were a group of 10. It's a small place with about 4 tables and only one restroom. The girl that helped us was attentive. One complaint is that they have Pepsi and not Coke but that's a personal preference. Food is ok, someone ordered Queso Frito, for my taste was too salty. But the Tostones with pork meat were really good. I got mofongo with camarones, the shrimp were good size, the mofongo was too dry but I'm not sure if it's supposed to be like that, I noticed they serve the mofongo not in the traditional way, which is like in a cup shape the protein in the middle, here they serve the mofongo in the shape of a small cake and the protein on the side. The arroz con gandujes was good and the pork was good. I feel they have potential. The restroom situation (only one) is not ideal though.

Authentic Dominican/Caribbean food in Willowbrook. Who knew?…read more I remember this place from a birthday party decades ago. The space was a bit bigger (they've since redesigned it smaller), but the crowds were smaller. Success hasn't tarnished their food. It was a very rainy and soggy afternoons and the place was packed. We managed a table and ordered. Can't go wrong with the delicious shrimp mofongo. I honestly think the sauce is the icing on that cake, made all the more delicious with a squeeze of lemon. Whew! Service was fast and dinner came out at a reasonable pace. The owner is so friendly and stopped by our table to make sure things were good. Better than good! If you're in the Willowbrook area do yourself a favor and stop in for lunch or dinner. Prices are a little steep, but what's isn't these days?

I ordered the pollo guisado and moro, both were good and we have a little left over. My partner ordered the pica pollo and the fried chicken was decent. The food does take some time, and servers did not check in too often so I would recommend ordering ahead of time (unless you have a long lunch break), There are plenty of tables, but it is a little dark inside, 2 bathrooms inside. The juice was on the sweet side so just watered it down (wish they have smoothies), but they get 5 stars overall for the flavor and the price point. Plenty of parking as it's in located along other stores.

Protein portions were generous and the sandwich was well balanced. We also got the braised pork Pernil which was stunning and bursting with flavor! Highly recommend getting it with the delicious Moro rice. The tamales were some of the most moist and flavorful we have ever had. It's worth mentioning that they are rather large, so the fact that they are so moist was extremely impressive. Arguably the star of the show was the meat stuffed potato balls. Crispy outside with a soft potato interior, and filled with a gooey beef mince, these are absolutely something to write home about. If you have ever had Porto's bakery - this is your place. When you walk inside the restaurant there are hot and ready items and pastries like beef hand pies and flan, both of which we got on the way out and couldn't stop raving about. Prices and portions all around are extremely generous. I'm already looking forward to my next visit in!

From the moment I stepped into this cozy spot, I instantly felt like I was back home in Puerto Rico. Just like our island, it's small, but filled with a huge heart. We spent time chatting with them about our families, childhood memories, and how happy we are that they've kept our culture alive right here in the Montrose area of Houston. We enjoyed a true Puerto Rican feast: arroz con gandules, pernil, mofongo con camarones al ajillo, pollo frito, empanadas de yuca y masa, flan de coco, limber de guanábana, and of course, more food to take home because we couldn't have it all at once! My personal favorite were the limbers with traditional flavors I don't recall ever having a limber outside of PR. This is a counter-service eatery, where you can see all the freshly prepared dishes right in front of you. You truly can't ask for better service; if there's something you're craving that's not in the menu for that day and they have time, they'll gladly make it for you! That's the kind of love and care you only find in places that cook from the heart. Prices are very reasonable although parking can be a bit tricky but that's mostly all of Montrose. Let's keep our culture thriving. s Support our local Puerto Rican businesses. WEEPA!

The curry goat now, it's a disgrace to Jamaican cuisine. As an authentic Jamaican person I am disappointed. The curry was whitish and the gravy was thick plus no flavor at all. That's not curry goat, plus the lady said she's not sure it's goat meat or mutton because we are not in Jamaica to get real goat meat.
