We had three encounters with this company. The first two, when the company came out to conduct an…read moreenergy audit, were generally positive. The workers were courteous and hard-working. After those two energy audit visits, the company identified our basement as an area that needed insulation to better improve our home's energy efficiency. We scheduled a two-day appointment to add insulation to our basement, exterior walls and attic. The insulation visit and the two months of email that followed, were hell. Although their own employees recommended that we add insulation in our basement, and this was the primary reason we decided to add insulation, when the company came out to actually do the work, they said they couldn't put insulation in our basement because of the space between our beams. Since it was their company that did the initial work and made the recommendation, shouldn't they have known that we couldn't do the project that they themselves recommended? Then, instead of telling us upfront that they couldn't do that work, they decided - without telling us - that they would just cram the remaining work into one day and tell us at the end that they couldn't do the basement and wouldn't be back tomorrow. The company co-owner, Adam, came to the house to check on the progress during the day - he spoke to the workers who, presumably, would've updated him on the change in plans. He never told us that the basement wouldn't be done or that the workers would be doing all of the work in a single day instead of the two that we had schedule. As 5:00 came around and I was expecting the workers to be wrapping up, they said, "we're almost done, just another 30-40 minutes to clean up." An hour passed and I asked again, "how much longer, we have plans tonight?" The answer: "15 more min." This continued until 9:00pm when I had to cancel our plans and kick the workers out of our home. They returned 20 minutes later, claiming they had left their ipad. Despite being asked to wait outside (as we had finally sat down to have dinner) they entered our home anyway. While we looked for the ipad, the two workers took advantage to use our bathroom, but didn't help look for the ipad (which was in their truck). As we inspected the work the next day, we found nails, screws, cigarettes and trash strewn around our yard, and in the attic, a DVD rack had been knocked over and DVDs scattered all over the room. I reached out to the company that evening to express my displeasure and didn't hear back. I followed up again and eventually the owner called and said he'd talk to his crew. From there, we heard nothing. No update on what actions had been taken to rectify the situation and no compensation or effort to "make whole" a situation that was off the rails from start to finish. When the company sent the invoice for the work, they billed us for the entire scope of the project, including the work they didn't do. I pointed out the error and for more than a week received no response. It took TWO MONTHS and more than 14 emails to get a correct invoice. The communication and customer service were AWFUL. I will NOT use this company again, and have already pointed 10 friends and family members to other companies for work at their homes. You cannot be this bad at dealing with your customers in 2017 - there's no excuse. I was optimistic about this company after the two energy audit visits, but the last experience was a NIGHTMARE and I would recommend you look elsewhere unless you're looking for a way to increase your blood pressure.

I contacted Matt last Tuesday out…read moreof literal desperation - I needed an attic insulated to code within a week & I didn't actually think it was possible due to the literal deadline from you know what. He immediately sent Andrew out the same day to look at the job. He gave me a price that same day (astonishing in the land of contractors to say the least) that was incredibly fair. Then the true contractor miracle happened - his supplier was out of R49, but knowing I was in a literal pickle, they found a way to make it work!! (R19 over the R30) We scheduled for that Friday and Andrew contacted me when he was on his way to the job as well as when he was finished. They did everything exactly as promised, at a great price, under my deadline and they did a perfect job! I can't recommend them enough! They truly went above & beyond.

I hired Valiant to put in an "underground" propane tank and generator. They sent several people to…read moretalk to me and each one contradicted the previous person. There was finally a decision and I was sent an estimate to sign. Part of the contract is that any damage done to the property is not their fault and I signed because I think this is pretty standard. All the the workers they sent were great, EXCEPT. it appears the quote I signed and paid for was not at all complete, so to dig the trench was another $2600.00. Then the surge protector was not added so that was another $650.00 These upcharges just kept coming. The Tank was NOT buried as I has asked, but is above the ground and a real eyesore. They willed the tank without asking my permission. The damage to the property is terrible and I have no way to repair it. The last people who came said they would check back, but I have never heard from them. I saved 20 years for this work and to have the mess, and all those up-charges has been terrible. The photos show some of the damage. Valiant said they would leave oil which they did not, they said they would come back and set up an App which they did NOT, they said they would contact me about an extended warranty which they did NOT. There were supposed to contact me about service and they did NOT. It was beena miserable experience. Now I have a generator which may or may not work I am out almost $30,000.. 20 years of saving.

I am updating this review to reflect our ongoing experience. I am sharing our experience with USA Insulation of Connecticut so other homeowners can be aware of the issues we encountered and make an informed decision. 1. Strong chemical odor Immediately after installation our daughter's room had a strong smell similar to burning rubber or a yoga mat. The odor becomes stronger with humidity and it has not gone away. 2. Unlivable conditions Because of the smell our family had to move downstairs. Our upstairs space has been difficult to use since the insulation was installed on April 9 2025. 3. No noticeable cooling benefit We were told the insulation would help improve cooling upstairs. In our experience we did not notice a meaningful difference after the installation. 4. Health and safety questions We asked the company if they could confirm whether the product was formaldehyde free due to concerns about phenolic resins. We did not receive documentation confirming this. 5. Safety Data Sheet concerns An independent environmental testing company told us they could not proceed with testing because the Safety Data Sheet that was provided was missing information and did not follow the standard format they expected. 6. Communication challenges We had difficulty getting clear answers about our concerns and were not able to have the situation reviewed by someone higher within the company despite asking several times. 7. Removal offered with conditions The company did offer to remove the foam at no cost. However the proposal required signing an agreement releasing the company from future claims and liabilities. Because our concerns about the odor and the situation remained unresolved we were not comfortable agreeing to those terms.
