I hired Valiant to put in an "underground" propane tank and generator. They sent several people to talk to me and each one contradicted the previous person. There was finally a decision and I was sent an estimate to sign. Part of the contract is that any damage done to the property is not their fault and I signed because I think this is pretty standard. All the the workers they sent were great, EXCEPT. it appears the quote I signed and paid for was not at all complete, so to dig the trench was another $2600.00. Then the surge protector was not added so that was another $650.00 These upcharges just kept coming. The Tank was NOT buried as I has asked, but is above the ground and a real eyesore. They willed the tank without asking my permission. The damage to the property is terrible and I have no way to repair it. The last people who came said they would check back, but I have never heard from them. I saved 20 years for this work and to have the mess, and all those up-charges has been terrible. The photos show some of the damage. Valiant said they would leave oil which they did not, they said they would come back and set up an App which they did NOT, they said they would contact me about an extended warranty which they did NOT. There were supposed to contact me about service and they did NOT. It was beena miserable experience. Now I have a generator which may or may not work I am out almost $30,000.. 20 years of saving. read more

Been a propane customer since 2016. Julie and Barbara in the office are phenomenal examples of great customer service. Service mngr was sensational too when I had an equipment failure (my end). Im brand loyal and appreciate how easy it will be when we need to start collaborating on the next cold-season contracts. They recently sent two wahoos out with spray paint to touch up my tanks. I had been a loyal customer of Bantam fuel for over 16 years. They've since joined Wesson and now their new name; Valiant Energy Solutions. After getting off the phone with "Kim" in the finance department, I have decided to leave this company. Kim is nasty, rude and unprofessional; the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I cannot express enough how horrible this company has become over the past 16 years. The finance department(Kim) and customer service are downright nasty. If I could give zero stars I would. Windows were delayed over 6 months because an employee forgot to submit my order. Don't worry they say, we fired her. That does me no good. Today I called because my sliding door was delivered without a screen. The reply, oh yeah, that's been happening. How about, 'I'm sorry, let me find out what the problem might be.' I received one window in early July and when I called to find out where the rest were, I was told they were delivered and I should check outside. Where did they think 7 windows and a sliding glass door could hide? When I asked for an answer today on the screen, I was told that there are hundreds of customers and they can't tell me anything today. I had my vents cleaned and except for one they didn't find, they did a good job, albeit a long process. The one they didn't locate they came back to do the next day. The workmen are excellent. The reason they get a lower score is due to billing. When I scheduled the cleaning I told them I had 2 vent systems, one for AC and one for Heat. I specifically asked if they charge per system and was told no, that I would be charged $250 for both systems inclusive. As I was having other work done on the house which creates dust I delayed scheduling and called back a few weeks later. Again I asked about the 2 duct systems I have and the cost and it was again confirmed. I had to reschedule after that due to other delays with my other reno, and again, when I called asked about the cost. Third confirmation..2 systems for $250. BUT when the crew came out they said they could only do 1 system for the price. WHAT?! I called, complained, asked for supervisors etc but was told it was a mistake and that they couldn't do 2 duct systems for that price. I felt I should end my other annual contracts with them and told them so. They then reversed their decision and did both systems for the price quoted. I then asked for it in writing. Lesson learned. Get everything in writing. Again, the workmen were excellent, polite, etc. This was not their fault. When they had to move things to get to vents, they took pictures to be sure to put things back. I have been a customer for a long time and every year i have a pre buy, this year I purchased as Always this year I purchased propane for 2.429 and I have a 900 dollar credit as of today and today they came to my house filled my tank and they are charging me 5.079 per gallon for 49.2 gallons or 249.89 , because the contract expired April 30, but yet they came June 2 to put in propane after having 90 degree and they stated because the contract ended,I asked about this years pre buy they said they are trying to do what`s best for customer you could have fooled me, buyer beware, and I have been with them for a long time very bad way to conduct business, good thing I am a customer shame on you people. I had an appointment today with Bantam Wesson for an energy efficiency audit, and once again did not show up, called twice and no one called me back!! This has been going on since December 2020!!! Had taken time off from work to have this service done!! Called multiple times, as they did not contact me to schedule a new appointment! Said that they would do the audit on a Saturday for my convenience, but never called me with a date, I always had to call them!!! Don't use them!!! Very unreliable!!! I am a 30 year customer and I just received oil today 11-4-22 and was charged 7 dollars a gallon when the average price in Connecticut is 5.2 dollars was told I do not use enough oil to qualify for a discount, so much for being a long term customer. I miss when it was just Wesson Oil. read more

I have been with them for around 5 yrs. I am on automatic delivery. 2 x their company did not deliver or call. Once was dec31- i had no heat & checked. Oil was empty. I called & they came out & apologized. Last yr. Same time. They said driveway was to icy. It was not. Now this year i noticed1/8- called them they said i owed them 560$- from a late Nov delivery. Please be forewarned if you intend to contract with this company. Representatives from Bantam Wesson performed an energy assessment at my home in July 2021 where the estimator made certain recommendations for insulation and quoted prices for those recommendations. After multiple telephone messages left for several different people and 2.5 months after the original assessment, the company refused my job due to "safety" concerns, that certain portions of the work would not yield any appreciable benefit and would not qualify for a refund. When I finally spoke with a supervisor Jane, I asked why the estimator (Robert) did not tell me any of the information about safety or benefits at the assessment. The supervisor said that Robert the estimator was "green". Incidentally at the assessment Robert was in the process of training an additional employee. Therefore one can concluded a "green"employee was in charge of training another employee. After the unreturned phone calls from the alleged owner Anthony, Jane and Robert I knew that the company was going to refuse the job as is of course Bantam Wesson's right. However, the 2.5 month delay in responding and refusing the work caused me to place other trades on hold, lose my place on their lists, and cost me additional funds. Ultimately I was told that the estimator would be spoken to about his performance and the delay in responding. Company representatives Sharisse and Catherine are NOT to blame for anything that transpired. They both were courteous, professional, and answered and returned messages. You have other choices for insulation contractors in Connecticut. Please choose wisely and accept this review for its factual content. read more

As an automatic delivery customer for over 15 years, I never expected to run out of oil today. Their last delivery to me was 12/1/2017. Contacted them at 9:11 this morning-no reply. Made a second attempt four hours later-still no reply. As of 6PM they have done nothing. I've also prepaid for the oil I use during the winter season. This experience conveys how they deal with loyal customers. I live in Farmington, Connecticut not San Francisco. Just now they made a delivery and the technician couldn't have been more professional. He checked both of my furnaces (hot water and heat) to ensure they were operating properly. Also he apologized several times even though he was not responsible for the problem. read more

such an awful company, truly don't even know where to begin. They installed a brand new HVAC unit in my house of August 2022, costing 9600$. In February 2023, when we had a very cold weekend in Connecticut, my brand new system not even six months old. Completely failed and stopped working. My house got down to 48° nearly causing a pipe to burst. They sent out their employee, Jim Ferroni. Jim came out and said that a secondary heat source should've been installed when they put my unit in and they made a mistake. He said to me they will send some one out immediately to get my system running properly. That never happened. I've been speaking to a manager named Dave. They want me to pay $400 for the part that should've been installed when I first got my unit. I told him absolutely not. Why should I have to pay for their mistake? Long story short, I'm taking them to small claims court. Stay far far away from this company, they do bad business, have zero morals or decency, and screwed me over since the first day they stepped foot in my house. read more

I had a problem concerning my account; trying to cancel. Their prices are probably the highest in Connecticut and I was given a verbal promise that they would give me a more competitive price if I would stay as a customer. The next time I got a fill-up the rates was extremely high. Since I had not used the service contract yet, I tried to close my account and get a refund. Calls and emails went unanswered. I sent it to the BBB. They tried for 2 months to get a response from BantamWesson and finally closed the complaint due to no response. I was under the impression that a BBB Accredited company was supposed to respond to all complaints in a timely matter. I don't know it the BBB will update their profile or not to show this lack of response. read more

We had Bantam Wesson come to our house and do an energy efficiency audit and all seemed good until I found out one of their employees named Robert Trowbridge stole money from us. After the audit they said if we wanted to move forward on using them we would have to pay half of the cost which was only $181 for $13,000 worth of work being done seemed amazing. My husband paid Robert half in cash (shame on us for trusting a company) and also sent him home with a pack of beer. A fees weeks later we get a bill for the full $181 I contacted the company and told them we were asked to pay up front so we did when they did the audit and they said they had no record of payment and asked Robert if he remembers taking cash from us and he said no. So this man pocketed our money. This was done back in December we are now at the end of March and I still am getting billed for the full amount even after speaking with the manager and her telling me we will only have to pay for the remaining payment. Not sure why our bill cannot be corrected to show the balance we owe. I've tried now 3 times to get in touch with the manager I spoke with and have no received any call back. Very disappointed in this company and that someone would steal money from their job. read more

Do not stand behind products they sell. Had four Kohler toilets installed a few years ago and we've had nothing but problems with them underperforming. Called BW and they came out and simply said they were installed properly and that we should hold the handle down longer when we flush. Absolutely useless. Feel as if they unloaded lousy merchandise on us after we specifically asked for toilets with strong flush. We refused to pay until they worked properly and their response was to take us to court and sue us. Four years later and I'm still plunging toilets after every use! read more

Shady delivery and billing practices on prebuy contracts. Despite calling them to suspend delivery at the end of our prebuy contract since we had a quarter tank full, they still filled the tank in April, and not only did this completely exceed the prebuy contract, but they also charged above the market spot price at the time they made delivery. That was like $300 of oil they shouldn't have delivered and that we didn't want to pay for. At least we managed to get them to credit us the difference between the price they charged and the spot price. Lesson learned: verbal agreements/requests with customer service mean nothing. read more

Their efficiency, work results, and professionalism were top notch! The piping, repiping, valve work and electrical setup look neatly organized to boot. When answered, multiple calls to their emergency line were met with idol promises to bring oil by a specific time, which they failed to do. Their phone rep was wonderfully courteous & helpful, & after initially saying that it would be a few days, was able to schedule us for the same day. A technician arrived, after phoning us first, properly masked. The problem was fixed within the hour, parts were ordered, a follow-up visit to be scheduled when parts come in. Repair man came and said I needed a zone valve but he had used the only one that was available that morning and no others on any truck since that part "doesn't break often" and they would have to order another. "Gonna be a few days or more" Called office etc... no help! "Don't know how long it will be and their schedule is very full" Pleasant enough but no service! Had called them since the company we had used for many years was sold to them. Called another company in the area.....here next afternoon! An organization with professional ads and unprofessional service. I was sold a central air system through Bantam Wesson for my two story 1942 house. Unfortunately the duct work was inadequate to cool the second floor. I feel this should have been the responsibility of the salesman to determine wether the system would function properly. After 3 years of repeated attempts to rectify this situation, even after a recent promise from their customer service manager to get to the bottom of this, I am receiving no phone calls, emails or certainly no satisfaction. Bantam was a great company and when I heard about the merger I figured there goes another one claiming that the merger will be better for customers. They just doubled the price of their service plan. No notice, no explanation, just a bill that looked a lot higher than last years. Maybe if they spent less on advertising and mailings..... guess I'll shop around for a new company. Hopefully I can find another family owned mom and pop to fill my heating oil needs. I sit absolutely astounded that they manage to find the keys to their office each day. I have had two service calls with them and in both instances after identifying a part was required to get my heat on, these people failed. In each instance we had to call days later to get a status only to learn that they never ordered, or contacted us. The first instance not only were we delayed due to their failure ordering, the service techs showed up an hour after the generous 3 hour window. Had to call them twice to learn they would be late. Fast forward two months and again they failed to order until we called, 4 times over multiple days. Having been told it was ordered, a few times days before it actually was.When I tried to have the service manager explain what the breakdown in their process was, the response was they hired someone to do all their ordering so it's better now. Well obviously it isn't chief... Super excited end my service contract with these geniuses. Only Bright spot is the service techs are efficient and polite when they show, but they are left helpless by their back office staff. Look elsewhere for service. read more

They are the highest priced company in the area. My landlord held a service contract with them so we were forced to get all our oil deliveries thru them. Besides the price the customer service people were hit or miss, they refused to let me manage the auto delivery (we are a family of 5 with 3 young children) I simply asked to allow us to manage large deliveries around my husbands bonuses, they would not assist at all and just kept threatening my landlords service agreement. We ended up on a budget plan that even after it was paid off they continued to bill us for months even thou the account was at $0. I will never do business with Wesson again. read more

some tank rental billing snafu....Just got lock put on my propane tank on Friday - before the weekend for maximum effect and so you have to call emergency service to pay extra. the issue here is after 15 years of paying them on time for their overpriced tank rental fee and propane and oil, they somehow don't know my mail address or phone number or to put a notice on the door. this is insane. called Petro, no tank rental fee and they are crediting me for the 30 gallons of propane. hope this company goes out of business. I have never had a more disappointing experience in my life. These people are simply awful. We built a brand new house and contracted them to install what we were told was the top of the line system. They sold us a Lennox system, that they had no clue how to install. Three years later, we are replacing our entire furnace and AC. Our house had 0% humidity. It was so bad our children's noses were bleeding daily. We reached out to them several times to remedy the issue and no one could solve this problem. We tried to get ahold of them so many times, the owner Pete even came to our home. He agreed with our concerns, told us he would contact us, but refused to offer any reasonable solutions. They left us high and dry. We finally gave up hope and contracted another HVAC company, who informed us the system was grossly inadequate for our home. He found several errors on Bantam's end, and because the system was not made to work for our home, the only thing we could do was replace the entire HVAC system. Now we have a unit from bantam that we've wasted 30k on, and is useless. Thankfully our new company was able to fix everything. As far as I'm concerned, Bantam should buy back this piece of garbage they sold us for what we paid. read more

I wouldn't trust this company to ever install any equipment and they don't observe the International Plumbing Code or local Building Codes. A few months prior to the purchase of my home the seller had the hot water heater replaced. Great, I thought I won't have to worry about that. Home inspector notice temp/pressure relief valve did not have pipe to extending no more than six inches above floor. Easy fix but for two years the water heater element/flue was sooty and needed to be cleaned. Finally all the CO detectors in the house went off and the water heater was still working. I called in another plumber only to be told the water heater was for natural gas and not propane which was being used. My family is lucky to be alive! I called to resolve issue before writing this review only to be told that they installed LP water heater and a final inspection was complteted.
