This review is based on my first impressions of this place and consultation experience. The location of this practice is convenient but since it's in a shopping center parking can be full in front of the office but no big deal. The staff were so nice when we came into the office and welcomed us in. The wait was not long and they gave me a tour of the place so my daughter could feel at home if we decided to go with them. Dr. Levine was super knowledgeable and detailed with the consultation. He has 30 years of experience and my friend told me she went there years ago and they did such a great job with her teeth. Reason we did not go with them is the distance from where we live. I wanted to shoot my shot because I heard nothing but great things about this place. Pricing is better than North Potomac Ortho too. Definitely shop around before committing, it makes a difference. This would have been first pick if it wasn't far from home. read more

My adult orthodontic experience, as someone who had never had braces during childhood, was overwhelmingly positive! I genuinely looked forward to all of my appointments and enjoyed the Invisalign treatment process under Dr. Lavine's direction. Every staff member, tech and the doctor himself were all incredibly friendly, efficient and thorough in their explanations and actions. My questions were always heard and addressed. Dr. Lavine even went as far as to help remove my Invisalign attachments before my wedding, and re-attach them after so that they wouldn't show in my wedding photos. All I can say is that Maryland Advanced Orthodontics is AMAZING! All of the staff there are so nice and helpful. My oldest was in need of braces. We had gone two other places and were referred here by an acquaintance. Dr. Lavine was great with our initial assessment and explained everything. We felt super comfortable and just loved the overall energy. They really work with you and assist with insurance claims and payment plans. I can't say enough about Janet either. She was so helpful with all of the payment arrangements and any insurance issues we faced. The check in process is so easy, and her appointments always ran on time. The technicians always come out and give updates and suggestions, which makes it very patient focused. They offer various times, which makes it super convenient for working parents and schedules. My youngest will most likely need braces and I'm thinking about going ahead with mine as well. I will most definitely be coming to MAO! read more

I was referred here by a friend. I knew the doctor would be good but I was not prepared for what I experienced in the office. I was completely blown away! From the moment I walked in to the moment I walked out I experienced 5 star customer service. The office was clean and inviting. I accidentally came an hour early thinking my appointment was at a different time and I was taking back almost immediately I barely waited five minutes. I had a prior bad experience with a dentist and it was so refreshing to see a dentist be so professional and so on point with his work! It's an hour trip from my home but it is definitely worth the trip. I am happy to say that I have found my orthodontist!!! So far, so good! Ever wonder what heaven would be like? Well MAO properly isnt anything like heaven BUT from what my tiny mind can boggle it would be A-OK if it ran like MAO. Its just the most easy breeziest orthodontist office I have ever been to. Nothing is ever a hassle. You just walk in to your appointment, self check in, see Dr. Lavine who reminds me of Robin Williams (oh the tears of a clown) and he is nice, friendly straight forward. No attitudes. He isnt short or curt. He spends time with you. Everything is state of the art. Its just really easy. They are open late! Convenient hours. I just couldnt ask for anything better. Im only on appointment # 3 appt #4 I will get my first invisalign trays. After my treatment is complete I will come back and review. But so far so good! read more

I am a senior citizen and never imagined I would have braces at 65-66 years old. I found as I was aging, mostly in my late 50's to early 60's, that my teeth were becoming more crooked with each year. I was beginning to have some difficulty flossing and when I went to my dentist, the hygienist was having difficulty cleaning my teeth. I had always wanted a beautiful smile with bright white and straight teeth....so I decided to get braces. I researched adult braces so I knew what to expect. I also took the time to have consultations with several local orthodontists to see which one was the best fit for me. One of my consultations was with Dr. David Lavine of Maryland Advanced Orthodontics. He and his staff were AWESOME right from the start! They were so welcoming, professional, and just great to deal with. His prices were very competitive. And each time I went in to the office, I was treated more like family than like a patient. Dr. Lavine and his entire staff make you feel so wonderful, important and like you are their only patient. Now after about 15 or so months, I got my braces off and my teeth look perfect! Dr. Levine is a great salesman and was amazing in the initial meeting and presentation. Unfortunately, after my daughter became a patient of Maryland Advanced Orthodontics, we hardly saw him again and primarily dealt with his assistants who were not very knowledgeable and on several occasions mislead us as to how much longer she would need treatment and kept extending her treatment in 3-6 month increments. They also made several errors with her orthodontic treatment which they did apologize for. Had we known this in advance we would have gone to a different orthodontist. It's been several years since my daughter's orthodontic treatment with Dr. Levine and know my daughter suffers from sever TMJ issues and jaw pain due to their incompetent work. If you or your child need braces or orthodontic treatment, do your research and find someone better but stay away from Dr. Levine and Maryland Advanced Orthodontics. read more

I've received exceptional service at MAO. I selected Invisalign to reduce a minor gap. Dr. Levine listened to all my concerns and took the time to explain the process thoroughly and we selected the plan that would work best. As a patient who travels often and moved out of state during my treatment I can say the staff was very accommodating with scheduling. The doctor makes sure you are satisfied and does not try to up-sale you on items. Many times I insisted on additional treatment (permanent retainers) and the Doc gave me his honest opinion. He said I should be fine w/out them and if I changed my mind I could get them at a later date. I appreciate quality patient care over greed. The staff was always pleasant and although I was an infrequent visitor most of the ladies remembered me- which is always nice and welcoming. The office is pretty modern (which is a necessity for me). Self check-in and decent aesthetics. Open floor plan allows them to be attentive to everyone being serviced. I've never had a long wait in the lounge or the dentist chair (imperative in this world of impatient people such as myself). The only hiccup I had was when I relocated and wasn't able to transfer treatment because I had paid for my service in full, upfront. So my treatment had to remain with MAO, not that I was disappointed but sometimes it was a challenge to have my work schedule coincide with a needed ortho appt. But we worked through it by sending photos via emails of pivotal treatment checkpoints and booked long appts to maximize my time when I was in town. So it all worked out, everyone was great, and my smile is even more amazing. read more

Extremely punctual, professional and friendly. My son just got his braces off after 18 months and I can't even begin to tell y'all how easy it was.. I truly thought it was going to be a lot of time and effort.. But they sincerely made it easy and effortless. And my son has perfectly straight teeth. No hidden costs. Dr. Lavine has been an excellent orthodontist for my kids. He does a great job explaining what needs to happen and is very realistic about the treatment plan and estimated timing. His staff is so friendly, and they took care of all the details working with our insurance carrier. I love the fact the office ALWAYS runs on time, yet we never felt rushed or ignored. They fit us in when we had something time sensitive happen, and they have early and late hours to make scheduling easy with teenagers in school. I also have nothing but great things to say about this practice. I bought myself braces for my 25th birthday, so I had some concerns about looking like Ugly Betty. Dr. Lavine and his team made this experience the best it possibly could have been. The staff are always very friendly, not just with patients, but with each other as well. There's a very warm atmosphere, and the practice does a very good job of making itself kid friendly while also making adults comfortable as well. Also, I always felt that the expertise involved was top notch. I had my braces for three years, and I never once questioned the abilities of any staff member. Well I don't know if it gets any better than Maryland Advanced Orthodontics, Dr. David Lavine and his phenomenal team. Dr. Lavine and his staff made a positive impression on me the day I met them. Everyone in the office is so incredibly nice, professional, welcoming, funny, accommodating, etc. As I told Dr. Lavine today, "I think you and your staff rock. I love how normal everyone is. Yes, you run a professional operation but it's peppered with lots of smiles, humor, interaction, etc. It's just a really cool practice and I always love talking to you and interacting with your staff." Also, I don't think I have ever waited longer than 5 minutes for my appointment. I love how they schedule their patients because I never have to wait. That's such a luxury! As we all know, that's not the case at most health-related appointments! Dr. Lavine always takes the time to fully explain everything...what's going to happen now...what to expect downstream...how long it may take...etc. And he will gladly answer each and every question! I went to Dr. Lavine for general alignment as well as an overbite issue (didn't even know I had that!). After 15 months utilizing Invisilign my teeth look great. I am very pleased with the result and I'm so grateful I went to Dr. Lavine. :) From start to finish, Dr. Lavine and company made this an incredibly pleasant experience for me. I have always looked forward to going to my appointments (I know...who ever says that about going to an orthodontist!!) and I have to say that I'm really going to miss my interaction with them. As an adult going back for antoher round of braces, I was a bit nervous and embaressed. I must say Dr. Lavine and his team made the entire experience nothing but wonderful and lovely and PAIN-FREE in every aspect. I stumbled upon this office on Google and I am thrilled with how everything turned out. From the moment I started my process up until the every end I had nothing bu an exceptionally amazing EASY BREEZY experience. Starting with Dr. Lavine and trickling down to the rest of the staff, everyone was sweet, personable, professional, educated, polite, I can go on and on. I think the most important aspect for me was how clean the office and staff were along with how everyone remembered stuff going on in my life. It was almost as if each appointment was a lunch date with an old friend! Except in this case, my teeth were getting straight with each passing week! They were courteous in setting up appointments and dealing with finances, especially considering my work schedule. I think the cooler part of all this was really learning about my teeth and how much they moved with each passing tray. I just finished a 14 month adult Invisalign treatment with Dr. Levine. I was pleased with the practice from the start. I had gone to another practice for a quote and while they were cheaper, they also said they couldn't be sure what my results would be like. On the other hand, Dr. Levine said they would continue adjusting my smile until I was happy with it. I'm so glad I chose his practice because they followed through on that and my investment was worth every penny. In addition, wait times are short, the staff is very friendly, and operations run smoothly. One time they made a mistake on which Invisalign trays they gave me (we're all human) but they fixed it right away and were very apologetic. My son and I have been going to Dr. Lavine for at least 20 years. The other day I broke my retainer and I contacted Dr. Lavine to see what I could do as I will be going out of the country for a while. I thought I would have to take my Invisaligns with me. Dr. Lavine is awesome! His office has covered two generations of braces in our family. It was 22 years ago for my husband and 20 for me. My 14 year old daughter just had her braces off and is now in her retainer. The few times she had a bracket pop off (due to eating an item on the "nono"list), they were able to get her in quickly and efficiently. The entire staff are super nice and very professional. Their system is very efficient and the kids love checking themselves in on the monitor.  The office is extemely clean and well kept. I have recommended Dr. Lavine many times over the years. I got braces with Dr. Lavine over ten years ago. And while I was always pleased I never realized until recently how lucky I was. My smile is one of the things people immediately compliment me on, and it's stayed good all these years (wear your retainer yall). And my mouth wasn't easy to work with, the expander was too painful for me so I ended up having four teeth pulled. At the time I didn't know how I felt about that, but the reality is it wasn't just the right choice to make my teeth straight, it was the right choice for my jaw. It fits my face well and is even/symmetrical (I have kind of a small head) - watch out for this, I've seen other orthos mess up jaw symmetry. He also shaved down some of my teeth, took like 10 minutes, I didn't even know to ask - he just saw it and fixed it, and wow what a difference! When choosing an orthodontist, remember that you want one who is concerned with overall aesthetics not just straight teeth (aesthetics is why we do this in the first place).
