Don't let first impressions fool you. At first glance, it seems outdated. However, the rooms are clean and the balconies are a perfect place to sunbathe, enjoy the coast, or have room service. Bathrooms are small but clean, modern and have excellent water pressure. Free breakfast buffet is a continental breakfast plus... and we had a seafood tasting dinner at La Serra that was slightly above average. The staff are all friendly. Some speak English, and amongst them some are better than others. They want to do everything in and anything to make your stay better. The only negative was that despite it being warm in mid-April and advertising air conditioning, we found out they only offer heating at this time. We turned the heat off and had to use the ocean breeze to cool the room sometimes. Bottom line? You're going to get a comfy place to sleep when you aren't out exploring Positano and the Amalfi Coasr.

We got on the boat at the port in Praiano, and made a quick stop in Positano to pick up some more passengers. Our tour guide, Valentina, was amazing and spoke English, Italian and Spanish, making everyone on board very comfortable. Antonio, the captain was great and made a point to spin the boat around at each stop so folks on all sides of the boat could get a prime view. Valentina pointed out sights on the peninsula along the way and we did a full circumference of Capri before the day was over. Unlimited beers, sodas and water is included and they even brought us some snacks along the way. We stopped at all grottos (incl the famous blue grotto) plus a swimming spot, and then got a 4-hour window of free time on Capri to explore. The ride back to Praiano included some Prosecco and pastries to finish the day. They dropped us off at the Marina Grande in Capri and you are free to explore the island for 4 hours. They suggested buying a picnic lunch by the dock (cured meats, cheese, bread, etc), grab a convertible cab ride to the gandola, ride the gandola to the top of Ana Capri, take in the view of the Faraglioni (eat lunch), and then do some shopping in Capri. When we got back to the boat, they gave us a 360 tour of Capri by stopping at every grotto (Blue, Green, and White) and passing under the Faraglioni. They also gave us prosecco and traditional Italian cake. There were also a few swimming breaks when we got to swim in a few bays / hidden caves. The tour of the Blue Grotto is not included in the cost of the tour, but we jumped in a row boat for €25 for a quick stop inside the grotto (it's an obligatory tourist stop, but way overrated). Overall, it was a memorable and highly recommended tour.

We absolutely loved their breakfast - all the food was so fresh, coffee was made to order and served personally to your table, and their staff was so attentive. We stayed in a room with a balcony and the Positano view was breathtaking. We spent our evenings out on the balcony which was the perfect way to end our days. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. Beautiful hotel and would absolutely stay here again!

Walked in on Housekeeper Going Through Our Things…read more We stayed two nights. On the second night around 7 PM, we returned to our room and caught a woman--who identified herself as housekeeping--going through our luggage and personal items. The room had already been cleaned that morning, and she had no cart or cleaning supplies. We reported it to the front desk immediately. Their response? "But was there anything missing?"--completely dismissing that someone was in our room uninvited and actively searching through our belongings. This experience left us feeling extremely unsafe. No apology. No accountability. We would not stay here again.

Witnessed carry-on rules actually being enforced, even in Sicily, whoa. Seats were better than average, better than many North American carriers (throws surly shade on WestJet...). Flight left on time and arrived 20 minutes early. Communication was good, like explaining at the arrival gate they were just waiting for shuttle buses before opening the door. No service on the flight, not even water, not really expected anyway. No complaints here!

I checked one and the other, being a carry on, I took to the gate A 10 with me. That is where this extremely rude gate person said I have to pay for that bag. I said, I already did. He rudely said, "Show me." I had no internet and could not pull up my reservation on my email in time. After every single person had boarded, I had no choice but to pay the extortion fee or I'd miss my flight. The guy took a lot of pleasure in the way he was treating me. Imagine that! I'm a paying customer and paying to be treated this way. When I got to Naples, I went to the Easy Jet counter to ask for my $48 euros back. There, they pulled up my reservation and sure enough confirmed that I in fact had paid for both bags. Now here's the kicker, they told me there is nothing they can do. After confirming that I was right all along, they still kept my money as well as treated me with such a lack of courtesy that I could not believe it. THIEVES. That is the only way to look at this. They knew and still kept my money. It's almost as if they get a cut of what they can extort. Please do not give this airline your hard earned money. They deserve to be out of business. Plain and simple. I'd love to meet their CEO some day. I'd give him or her a huge lecture on customer service and how to train their employees the right way.

Italy Trip - Day 2 - 4/8/26…read more When we arrived we walked directly off the plane and down a staircase when getting off the plane (just like the Lovable Lads of Liverpool) and directly into a crammed bus. Probably unnecessary, but i'm already thinking about pickpockets (which in my defense i'm always watching out for that, especially in big cities and on or near public transit - but now even more so). They drive us about 200 yards (would've been faster to walk than wait so long, but maybe that's a safety hazard, which is something they don't seem to care about here much otherwise, which is kind of refreshing in a weird way). We were then herded into the airport, while i watched a guy who was far behind us, skip past me and another 50 people or so. Another ten people that were behind me also broke in front of me. He must've had a hankering for pizza. -------------------------------------- Outside there was a line for citizens and a line for "all passports" or "tutti i" passports ("tutti" being "all" in italian? just don't call me "tutti frutti" okay?). Once we get inside the lines disappear, so it seemed kind of pointless to have us enter in lines outside and then come inside into just one big line again. That's not how we do in America. There then seems to be three lines - one for locals, and one for U.S. and or English speaking, and another for i don't what for - maybe for people that hate the "grind". There should have just been two groups: the people who's toilets flush and the water goes clockwise, and the other for peoples who's water flushes and goes counter clockwise (it's a joke, i know it's a myth, but they should do it anyway). When we walked up they asked if we were from the U.K. and although there's a lot of ugly / ugly toothed people from there i kind of took it as a compliment that we didn't scream "American" to them. Maybe i am a little cultured? After that we stop at a bathroom and i accidentally go into the family bathroom painted like a child's bathroom with airplane landing strip and one little room with two toilets.

Naples, Italy. The most 'freeform airport' I've experienced. I got to use NAP 2x, inbound…read morefrom IST, and outbound. The first visit was 12/1/24 during rush hour and it's very busy. Most flights are boarded outdoors as NAP is smaller relative to the number of flights serviced daily. The second was my return flight home via IST. Both times however I was able to use the small tech room to charge my electronics via 8 wall outlets. There are many charge stations throughout the waiting area and they service USB-A connections, much slower. When boarding begins each airline has its own protocols so be aware. Also gate announcements are made 30 min prior to departure times so you want to be super alert. Leave enough time cushion for unforeseen events like overcrowding in boarding areas, a bus to the plane and gate changes. Some users think NAP is chaotic; it can be. The positive to the experiences at NAP is food and clothes and sundries shopping: there are top notch stores, panettone even a Venchi outpost. The panini, sfogliatelle (2.3€) and pastries I've tested at NAP are top notch and for 5-7€ a piece, it's a bargain. Even cheaper is coffee, an espresso is 1.5€. Boarding is by zone and love that they board planes from the back seats to front: sensible and convenient. All in all a good average airport with superior food and shopping. End of Yelp.

I assumed I was because we were Americans. We lined up outside and people lined up behind us and he eventually had let us in, but only because Bagni Salvatore (next door) had space and let us in to their space. They took us to 10 chairs and they kindly let me rent their floatie (because I can't swim) even though they initially told me no. Pablo was very kind to us from the moment we got there. Including the bar staff who n was very kind. The cashier was very kind. When we ate at the restaurant they were very kind. My group tries not to be obnoxious Americans and we try to speak their language and connect on a human level. I would absolutely recommend this beach club/restaurant. We found a nice secret quiet sand beach on the side away from children and it was spectacular. I honestly have had the best experience here and wouldn't think to recommend anywhere else for our coworkers as we are airline crew. We asked around & then found our guy (Luka). He had the name of tour on paper but wasn't holding it up. We had to wait for lates & pick up non cruisers elsewhere as well.. so a couple of delays. Bus was filled - every seat, & he did an info session in broken English, so we got over half the story. We had a few other tours in 3 other countries w/ excellent English speakers. The tour took us to Pompeii but first we had a detour through an art gallery to "visit restrooms" but really it was a sales pitch for their jewelry/art. The tour was w/ a different guide, thomaso, who was good but a bit of language barrier. It was about 2 hrs guided. Then we wasted about 30 mins waiting for restroom/snack break before walking to bus for our lunch stop. We ate at Kona restaurant about halfway up the volcano with I'm amazing view. We were told a light lunch which turned surprisingly into a huge 6 course meal. Included a drink, bread, a four appetizer sampler, slice of pizza, a bowl of pasta, and a piece of cake. All the food was real good and the servers were nice... But it did take well over an hour to eat. We finished up the rest of the way to the top of the volcano. It was a pretty serious hike from the parking area to the rim. It was self-guided with no tour guide. There were gift shops & food at the top as well!! But once you get to the top, the panoramas were insane and the inside view was cool. We agreed as a group to cut the mountain visit an hour short so we can get back to the port by 4 PM still, since long lunch and our other delays pushed the whole tour off schedule. The overall tour was pretty good, the bus was nice and the three stops were great. it could be a little better organized/ arranged to speed things up. Also if the guides' English was better that would've helped to make it 5 stars.

Beyond the typical European bed,* The Aurora Hotel is a fine spot to stay in Amalfi. It's a little bit outside the main town so you don't have to deal with too many touristy crowds, but the view is amazing, the shades are fantastic at keeping the light out in the morning, the air conditioning system (in our room at least) is new, and the staff is lovely (but can't magically get the airline that lost your baggage to deliver it in a timely manner either). I wouldn't drop the €10 per person on the breakfast, which was a little weak (although the patio view is incredible), but rather get some fruit in town and take advantage of my own amazing balcony. But that's me. I would absolutely stay here again though. _____________ *And nowhere else has a good bed, so I don't even know why I'm mentioning it.
