This company built a garage for me in 2021. Almost from completion it's been one problem after another, from the door not opening and closing properly, to a discovery that the garage door was bumping up against a wooden beam putting stress on the springs and rollers, to the discovery that the rollers they used were not quality rollers which lends to the fluidity of the door ( we were told to put W-D 40 on them, to the faulty wiring, to the crumbling cement in the curb, to not being able to find a replace panel for the door. So far no resolution to any of these issues, just finger pointing. DO NOT HIRE THEM TO BUILD ANYTHING FOR YOU. After an investment of over $30,000, I feel taken advantage of. My simple kitchen update with only new cabinets, countertops and backsplash has taken 10 months to complete. Even as I write this review, it still isn't complete. My salesman promised a beautiful kitchen and I'm still waiting. The contractor working the job is very capable, but needed lots of help that the company didn't provide. This has led to my updated kitchen job to drag out 10 months! I'm very disappointed in this company and CANNOT RECOMMEND them. read more

I contacted Italy America to redo our kitchen. Talked with Tony and he drew up the plans, explained everything . He came to the house and took the measurements of the kitchen. Was very thorough and had some ideas that we liked. He introduced us to our project manager Bruce, who would be in charge of the job. Both of them gave us their phone numbers and keep us informed throughout the project. The people that came into our home were very professional and great workers. They knew what to do and did a great job. We are very happy with the work and the final project is better than what we expected. Through this project we had Italy America do a drive way at another home we have and my son had a porch replaced on his home. Both jobs were done very good. Italy American refinished one side of my house after a tree fell on it - new siding, trim, etc. Tony spent a lot of time answering my questions, offering pros and cons of various choices, and making suggestions for better-looking trim that I hoped could be done above the windows and door. He never pushed me in one direction or another. After our discussion he *exactly* understood the look I was going for, and Wally executed it with beautiful attention to detail. Wally has a great eye and (for example) installed trim around the basement windows that was a big improvement on trim that looked like an afterthought when siding was originally put on this house. Even the trim at the sides/corners of this face of the house is now more attractive. It makes me smile every time I come home! Professionally done, thank you. read more

We had our driveway done 2 years ago. We wanted to get a colored cement & pressed pattern in the back too. But after hearing that we would have to treat it every few years we decided to just get regular cement. Well, Last year we started to see pits in it. Not that many. But this year they are popping up everywhere. Also already have a crack already. I know Michigan weather can't help with the winters. But it started in the summer so I guess heat is not good either. I called them to let them know & the guy was rude & said it was in my contract that we were supposed to treat it after it was done. NOT what we were told on the regular cement. Only to water it down every day for a week to 10 days. That's why went with regular cement & not the colored cement. When I looked at the contract it had the colored name still on it. I wouldn't recommend them at all. read more

I was having water issues in my basement, I had Italy America come to look at it and they suggested I have an overhang added on the back of my home. In December when the weather was in the single digits, the work crew was still here to do the repair work, thank you for the beautiful work you all did. I have had two major project now done by Italy American (a complete re-roof of a 3 year old home and a new poured, stamped and colored patio). Their work is impeccable and customer service is top notch. Specifically, the foreman of the patio project (Sandro) was amazing. Every step of the way, he checked with me to make sure I was happy, and made small modifications to the design to exceed my expectations. He was extremely friendly and polite, and went out of his way to make my son (who watched the whole project with fascination) feel a part of the process. read more

Spring 2021 they gave us an estimate for an addition and kitchen. We secured a loan and signed for the blueprints to be drawn up 5/27/21. The architect came out and suggested going out a different side of the house. We liked the idea but said only if in our budget which we told them was $100,000. After months of trying to pin them down in the fall we met and with the supply prices had gone up now the estimate was $115,000 to $125,000. We told them $115,000 we could put our own flooring in. Told us they could start Nov. 1. Did not hear from them until end of January 2022. They apologized architect had a heart attack. I had been texting, calling and emailing trying to find out what is going on. Still they did not have drawings done or anything in writing to start the project. May 22, 2022 after I had been calling every week. They left me a packet with drawings and a budget of over $200,000! The owner said I had 3 options -1. go find another $100,000, 2. just add the addition and forget the kitchen but he failed to see that going out the wall they changed it to would ruin my existing kitchen. It is up against the wall being torn out. 3. Or just do the kitchen but the kitchen they designed won't fit in my existing space! So, I have no options with the plans they gave me. I feel we should get our deposit back of $4000 after chasing them for 1 year and ending up with a design that is double our budget. read more

I hired Italy American to do a complete gut of my kitchen and bath. Both rooms came out so much better than I could've ever imagined. The crew: Frank, Nick, Angelo and Tony went above and beyond. They were super flexible when I made changed during the process, never once complained or gave me "the look". Angelo is a genius! Tony (counter top guy) has the patients of a saint, as It took me forever to decide, even though the one I chose was the first sample he showed me. I love my house again!!! 18 months ago, my family hired Italy America for a big job. New vinyl fencing and cement drive. Now, a large portion of the drive is pitted, mini pot holes. Never been salted and I don't care how rough winter was, cement that is only 18 months old should not do this! Of course, after numerous discussions they will not stand behind their work! The portion of the drive that has the issue was a last minute batch from the cement company to complete the job...make you wonder. We think it was a bad mix. So just a warning to anyone considering ITALY AMERICA for work at their home or business, they are your best friend at the sale, but do not stand by you if there is an issue! read more

I had the company come out in 2019 to give me a quote on building a new garage, can't think of the guys name but he was extremely rude and had the nerves to ask for our help to take measurements; um isn't that your job! Everyone did an amazing job, and the crew was efficient and friendly. We are both pleased with the quality of construction plus how nice it all turned out in the end. The cement work was perfect too! I made a 1:00 PM appointment for a construction estimate. At 1:45 I called the company who informed me that they were running late and probably could make 3:00! I made sure I was available at 1:00, and I do expect a call if someone is running late (2 Hours is not late, it's rude). The fact they Italy American personnel made the appointment for 1:00 and thought it OK to show up 2 hours later, speaks volumes for this companies integrity. No estimate is low enough for me to chose this company. read more

Without a doubt the worse contractor I have ever dealt with in my life. Literally had to wait over a month to get a quote and then the quote was wrong and was for things we didn't want done. I scheduled an initial consultation for Monday at 1:30pm. I called at 12:30pm to make sure someone was coming. They said yes, so I left work so I would be there on time. At 2pm when no one showed up, I called again - and was told they were on the way. I left at 3pm. The next day when I called to complain about their lack of professionalism and disregard of my time, one of the owners suggested that my appointment was on Tuesday. When I told him I called twice to confirm, he said they had no record of that (so I guess I'm either a liar or a prank-caller?). Instead of asking "How can we make this right?", he fed me excuses and essentially blamed the customer. No thank you. I'll take my $75K to someone who appreciates it. read more

Sale reps came out to measure driveway on initial estimate then came back to sign contract a few days later. During 2nd visit sales rep., re-measured, took pictures, drew out sketch of work to be performed, went over paperwork and discussed, in detail what the scope of work to be done. I signed contract expecting to pay $5600 for driveway. Fast forward 20 hours and the sales rep text me "Ron, so sorry, In reviewing the contract with owner , he has found I did not charge for 6" on approach or for the 30 sqft sidewalk, the 4" is for upper driveway...Also a separate permit is needed for approaches from the city. Along with supply increases this year throughout the industry the sale price would be $6320 instead of $5600. I'm terribly sorry for my mistake Ron. just called sales rep to see if they would honor the price and he states "that's just how it came out" when I asked about honoring the agreed price vs. the new price. I have over a dozen homes and a 16 unit apartment building so I though we could do a lot business together but I guess not...ARE THERE ANY contractors out there that do what they say they're going to do and honor prices given by company rep...? Interesting that as I look over their reviews the owner doesn't take any responsibility, he just states I'm sorry you "feel" that way....anyway the search continues. read more

I wanted cost ideas because I was planning to get my basement finished, and when I spoke with their sales rep he refused to give me any sort of estimate. He didn't want any information from me about square footage, or tile vs carpet, or drop ceiling vs drywall...he just kept rudely demanding to know HOW MUCH I WAS WILLING TO SPEND. I can't say what kind of work they do, because after getting the impression that they would run the bill up as high as they could, he completely turned me off from this company. read more

I have to give credit where credit is due they fixed the bricks on my porch and did a wonderful job but as far as my porch steps go they installed 2 new steps in September 2015 and one is crumbling been in contact waiting since last Novermber not much can be done in the winter its May and not fixed still waiting to see if they will be fixed. read more

Italy American tore down and rebuilt our 2.5 car garage. Salesman and foreman seemed very knowledgeable, professional and provided a fair price. However, the bottom line is what should have been a 3 week project took 2 months to complete and they added costs at the end even though they admitted that they should have gotten our approval before doing the additional work. Several items had to be reworked because it was not build according to the drawing we signed off on and they failed to pass the city electrical inspection twice. They cleaned up great during the demo and building phase, but then left our backyard an unsafe mess from tearing it up redoing the electrical rework. read more

Italy America put an addition on my house and put the foundation on top of the new sewer clean out. My addition started to sink, cost me $25,000.00 to fix the issue and Italy America said it was normal settling. Statute of limitations on construction is 6 years and not 7 when we consulted a lawyer. read more

12 years ago, we contracted Italy American to extend our existing roof over a new large porch, replace all windows and new siding. They did an excellent job! We are still being complemented on how nice our home looks. NOW, our roof is 21 years old, so we inquired with 2 other companies to see if we needed a new roof. Both said our roof was at the verge of major leaks and we need to replace it ASAP. We sought a third opinion from Italy American. They actually went up on our roof and said it was fine and that we should be able to get at least five more years out of it. They added some sealant around our chimney and dotted a couple nail heads for FREE! It is very refreshing to be able to deal with an honest company!! read more

I would not recommend hiring Italy America for work on your house. They are not reliable. Their workers do not show up when they say they will. They did not meet the deadline they promised me. When they are on-site, they're in such a hurry to leave that their work is subpar! I was advised my job (staining existing kitchen cabinets) would take no more than a week....that was at the beginning of December. They finished in January...very sloppy work and did not do everything that was promised in the contract. After I complained, they come out for about 3hrs to "clean up" their mistakes because in their words, "we want you to be happy". Their clean up job is just as bad as the original. I again complained and was advised that they would come back out and do the job right. It's now April...I haven't heard from them! I could have done a better job myself! Italy American Construction Company put in a new driveway and vinyl fence in my back yard. At first I thought they were the best contractor I had ever hired. Now 18 months later I learn they are the kind that does not back up their work. My new cement that I spent at least $8,000.00 of the $13,000.00 in total on has now Spalled. Let me explain what this means, Spalling is a condition by which the cement craters or loses the top layer. I called Italy American expecting complete satisfaction and have to date only been told cement does this and it was the result of a harsh Michigan winter. Said salt was the culprit and I should of sealed the cement last summer. I was never told I had to seal cement and expected many care free years. To date I have been told they are without blame and it is pretty much my fault for not protecting the driveway by sealing last summer. I explained we fully expected the drive to be replaced due to it only being 18 months old. I was asked "and who will pay for this?" IA sent out the cement contractor who said he would check his records to see if perhaps they had a batch of cement mixed that did not meet their standards and that "they" would get back to me. I don't expect a phone call at this point and will be retaining an attorney soon to take IA to court. So, long story short, I personally wouldn't hire Italy American Construction to build a bird house at this point. Like I told "Mike", I hired Italy American Construction because I believed they backed up their work, not because they had the best price.
