Also I had no idea you could have a vacation with this much adventure and yet zero stress. Having Phil take care of everything and getting it all arranged for and paid in advance took a HUGE load off of us, which was so great as we both have jobs where we typically do a lot of planning and project management. So better be on time and make a line if this happens. This year was different. We got tickets but there was just another family. Maybe because we got there at midday. Beach was crowded. We had to walk just a little bit to get a spot and set everything. People come and go with every ferry so there's always space. Just a dew benches but everyone wants to be at the beach near the dry sand. Water will come later on, but the rest is wet. You have to walk for a few minutes to get to the water. It is pretty shallow. This year we had to run because it was shrimp season and they make sand unstable. At first everyone wants to dodge algae, but you end up stepping on it. Getting into the water was the same. It felt like quicksand. It didn't feel quite relaxing. 10 years ago it we would stay for hours in water. Kids would play easily. We'll, at least animals hace set a home! Jetty is a small island just a quarter of mile from Port of Everett. But i don't think you will be able to swim with all your stuff back and forth after a day there :D You ca always kayak if there's no more room in the Ferry. By the way, it is a small passengers only. Strollers won't move on sand so leave it in your car. Do bring everything you need like water, towels, a tent that can resist wind (it gets pretty windy and can blow umbrellas), etc. If you bring food, take all you garbage with you. Don't leave anything. I saw some kids stuff laying there waiting for the water to come over and take it to the sea. So sad. I carried most of it because there are no garbage bins in sight. Also, there is just one floating restroom. It tends to smell. Take it into consideration when drinking lots of water. We usually go to the one in the parking lot first and when coming back. It is very clean. Lots of stalls. Parking lot is big if you extend it to the grass area. There is always someone checking you paid for it.

I was so stoked to get the opportunity to visit the Boeing Factory, the largest building (volume…read morewise) in the world. It was about 45 minutes from downtown Seattle. We arrived half an hour before our scheduled tour. Got to know during check-in that we had to leave all phones, bags and any time of accessories in the free lockers before heading to the factory site. The tour started with a short video. Then we boarded a modern bus to take a 10 minutes ride. Upon arrival, we took elevator to the 4th floor, from where we got to see the assembly line of the aircrafts. It was a balcony like place and the tour guide explained different aspect of the assembly process. We also got to see some of Boeing's latest fuselage tech and video on making of the latest 787 models. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, as she provided great insight on the history of Boeing, different aspects and facts about the factories and aircraft models. As we departed, we drove thru the parts and materials area, that had a lot of the crates and unassembled pieces of the planes. Once we got back to the main building, I explored the gift shop, cafeteria and the museum. Loved the gift shop that had so many amazing Boeing merchandises. The best ones were the smaller models of iconic Boeing aircrafts. There were also apparels, toys, magnets, stickers, stationaries and many other products. The prices were relatively cheaper for a tourist spot. We bought a lot of stuff from here. The cafe was spacious. Their popular item was Ivar's Clam Chowder. The museum had plan some display of 747 models. We also went to the observation deck that had gorgeous view of the whole factory site, some newly assembled aircraft wrapped in green plastic and the runway of the adjacent airport. Overall I had the most fascinating time here, being an aviation enthusiast. It was one of the best part of my Seattle trip.

The Boeing Future of Flight Factory Tour is 43 miles from the SEA-TAC airport. I looked forward to…read morethis factory tour for years!!! Short version: So disappointed. Long version: The tour starts in a modest theater where you watch a 10-min video how William Boeing started out. This part was 5-stars! Next, you board a gorgeous luxury-style bus for a 5-min ride over to Hanger 5. The host speaks briefly about Boeing facts. The bus was also 5-stars! Exit the bus, down a flight of stairs to a freight elevator, then to a 3rd floor landing that overlooks the Hanger 5 assembly area. Here the host talks about the different areas of the hanger where you can see 5 planes in different states of assembly. Also, you see a variety of parked carts that support the fuselage as well as miscellaneous bins, mechanical braces, and worker pathways. Why the tour was so disappointing was because there was absolutely nothing going on. No action, no assembly. No fuselage being lowered in to place, no wings being attached, no components being shuffled around, nothing. I saw about 8-10 Boeing factory staff walking around. When asked, "Where are all the workers?" I was told they are all inside the fuselage of the plane. Hmmm. My tour was at 10am on a weekday. I really hoped this was not all of the tour. I anticipated we could at least walk the factory floor behind a secured fence of some sort to get a sense of scale of the planes close up. NOPE. No factory floor walk. After about 10-15 minutes, back in the freight elevator, up the stairs, in to the 5-star bus and thank you for coming. A History or Discovery Channel documentary on Boeing would provide you a more rewarding experience. What was insult to injury was the lack of accurate information from the hosts. When asked why planes don't fly faster compared to earlier jets, the response was, "the human body can't take the additional forces to fly faster". Interesting, but WHAT??!!. Through my own research the 777 (being built in Hanger 5) flies at 560 mph for optimal fuel efficiency, has a top speed of 682 mph, and can withstand 700 mph with a tailwind. Back in the 1970s, the Concord flew at Mach 2 or 1,350 mph and bodies did not explode...not...even...one. Hmmm, and this tour is called the "Future" of Flight. Boeing, please have your tour hosts provide legitimate information and a "factory" tour would terrific too! Total score for the Boeing Future of Flight Factory Tour: 2 Stars. (Photo below from a Google search, very accurate) P.S. Boeing has another attraction that may be more rewarding, the Boeing Museum of Flight in Tukwila, WA. Like the Boeing Future of Flight Factory Tour, nothing here is moving either but their many planes parked and suspended from the ceiling, and there is much to view and experience. Also, because it is near the SEA-TAC airport, you can watch planes take off and land from the roof of the Boeing Museum of Flight. I wish I went here instead.

The guides were helpful, informative and efficient. The forest scenery was absolutely gorgeous with a light drizzle of rain. I have done several zip line tours and this one definitely had safety locked down. It required no athletic ability so it was easy for someone in their sixties and a child who barely weighed enough to be included. What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. The location was stunning! Did I mention the lavender lemonade was such a special treat?!

There's a total of 6 zip lines. They start at shorter and easier and increase in difficulty. I wouldn't say it's a very extreme zip line, there were plenty of young children doing it as well. Fun fact: the longest zip line is slightly longer than the Space Needle in length! There were about 8 people on the tour with my husband and I (not including guides). I think the only con is having to wait for everyone at every canopy which is understandable for a safety point of view but can take some time and I'm a bit impatient. But you're quite high up so I took the time to enjoy the views, peace and quiet of being in the forest! Also, a good opportunity to strike up some conversation with everyone else. The staff helped us get into our gear, get in and out of every zip line and gave us a velocity push when we wanted extra speed very kindly. Halfway through the tour, you even get freshly made lavender lemonade which was delicious. I would try to book this in advance if you're trying to go on a weekend. I went on a Friday afternoon and was lucky enough to book same day. All in all, if you're looking for a fun day trip activity nearby Seattle - this was an hour and a half drive and just a lovely day! We lucked out with blue skies and light winds - enough to make chasing the sunset perfect. Learned a lot about ballooning from Bob and Jay. I would definitely recommend this company for your hot air balloon ride--they'll let you participate in pre and post balloon activities if you want. And of course, the champagne post flight was a great way to end the day.

Only twice in my life have I encountered multiple wild snakes in an approximately 20 minute window…read morewhile hiking. The first time was in Montana while I was conducting geology field work, the snakes that time were rattlesnakes. This time I encountered two garter snakes here at Narbeck Wetland Sanctuary while hiking the Perimeter Trail (South portion of the trail). The first one I heard surprised me because it was right next to the trail. The second one was making noise while traveling through brush on the side of the trail as well. That cutie I managed to get a picture of. The edge of the water in the sanctuary is full of cattails in a number of places. At one woody portion of trail I noticed a gnarly tree by the water and decided to venture closer to check it out. I noticed a Hummingbird high in the tree by some cattails. Just this morning back at the house the hummingbirds were collecting the stuffing from cattails to use for nesting material, fun to encounter another hard working hummingbird the same day in a wetland setting. I made my way closer to the water to get a better look and heard a critter flop into the water, twas a big amphibian I managed to miss with my camera. Song birds sang and water fowl called throughout the duration of my visit here today in the mid-afternoon. A carved wooden sign is located at the driving entrance/exit to the park and is artistically well done, evoking a sense of magic that I have found to accompany wetland and heathland biomes. The parking lot is small to medium in size, but there were a number of open spots so it wasn't a problem on my visit. Next to the parking lot is a restroom building that was closed today, I'm guessing due to COVID-19, a grassy picnic area, a map of the trail system, and some signage with information about the sanctuary. There are two main trails through the sanctuary: the Interpretive Trail which includes interpretive signs, and the Perimeter Trail which goes around the perimeter of the sanctuary. I hiked/walked the southern portion of both of these trails and found them both to be very well maintained. Garbage cans were located along the trail, which was convenient. Elevation gain was not immense, but it was also not completely flat. I encountered a number of soloists and groups out walking/adventuring while I was here this afternoon. By the time I left at about 3 p.m. traffic started picking up. Overall a fun experience and place to explore.

I've been working in Everett for 20ish years and had no idea this place existed. It's not located…read moreanywhere near downtown, but I was very surprised to have never heard of it. A friend recently found it on the all trails app when were seeking out a place for an easyish hike/walk. I was amazed to find this located so close to Boeing, but should probably have realized there is a lot of nature in this area. There is a small parking lot, a big sign marking the entrance and maps/informational plaques to help guide you a long. The inner loop is mostly boardwalk and goes thru a cool rock type structure. Benches were placed intermittently. The outer loop is slightly harder to locate and navigate and does incorporate part of the sidewalk. The combination of both loops is less than 2 miles and takes about 35 minutes. This seems like a great location for a break in nature during your work day. I hope to make it back here again in the future.
