It's nice to take a shower in an area big enough that if you drop something, you don't have to get out of the shower to pick it up. ;-) The dogs loved the path and the nearness of the beach for potty potty breaks. Man, this place is so windy. If I might make a recommendation...keep your awning in. Only put it out when you plan to sit under it...otherwise, keep it in. Prices are competitive. There is a playground and giant chess set. BBQ's provided at each site. Back in, pull through, 50 amp, 30 amp, tent camping, yurts, oh...and fun "art" installations along the path. If you're into tetanus PT, there's a pull-up area covered in rust!

The Whidbey Scenic Isle Way is a nice stop to take pictures of the shoreline just past Fort Casey State Park. People were fishing and even scuba diving while I was walking around. I even saw a semi coming off of it! We took the 1:15 ferry and wow so busy! About a 30 minute ride and so smooth we took a nap in our car. You are allowed to leave your car and head up to the top deck for a nice view. They also have a galley for snacks too. And restrooms available.

As a result, it's not the most efficient place to hang out - especially in times of covid (though the employees have done their best to map out effective social distancing protocols). The best thing about the Keystone terminal is the lovely beach adjacent to it. It's a great place to sit and wait for the ferry, which is often late due to the frequent fog, winds and/or low tides in this area. The ferry is also smaller here, so the wait times for driving aboard are often long - it's best to make a reservation online to cut down on wait times. If you're walking on, allow time to find parking, which is not abundant (especially on sunny, warm weekend days). There are few services here, except for a couple of vending machines, but (praise be!) there's a real restroom just inside the terminal doors.

Easy to find from the Clinton ferry, Ken and Lynn Berry greeted me when I arrived and made me feel right at home. Located 14 feet off the ground, the treehouse is tucked enough away to feel secluded while the rest of the property is close enough to keep you on the grid. The room itself came with modern conveniences (electricity, heaters, a microwave, DVD player, WiFi) and plenty of lounging space, with a converted shed for bathroom business located outside a few paces away. I liked looking at the skylight above my bed at night, listening to the rain beat against the corrugated plastic and feeling the wind against the walls. The wooded surroundings made for a pitch black sleep and refreshing wake-ups. I would've utilized the deck with my morning pot of coffee, but it was too soggy and cold all weekend to really enjoy it. I could see how it would be a lovely place to sit and enjoy the nature scene, though, and I appreciated the colorful LED lights Ken had attached to the trees making it feel like a thousand fireflies were escorting me home at day's end. I even saw two deer while I was there! Billed as a bed and breakfast, I was hoping for something hot and substantial to eat when I woke up. Instead I was given cold breakfast items both nights for the following mornings. I was living my hippie dream, so the granola and fruit were fitting, I suppose. Lynn also baked me GF scones on the second day and gave me a relaxing massage (she's a licensed massage therapist and provides this service for an additional fee), so my complaints are minimal. The island itself is fun to explore and the view at Double Bluff Beach is worth a stop on your way back to Mukilteo.

After greeting us warmly at the door, Mrs. Bronson sat us down in the parlor for tea and a chat about our plans for the trip. She also listed off a mind-boggling number of options for our two breakfasts; we settled on applecakes with cinnamon and waffles with real cherries jubilee, if you can believe it. The food was delicious, served in formal courses on beautiful china and crystal. The house itself is a literal treasure trove, spilling over with the Bronsons' international collections of books, knickknacks, furniture and sundries. The overall effect is somewhere between a Studio Ghibli film and the set of "Practical Magic". It's very understandable that they can't host small children! For older guests, though, it's difficult to pry yourself out of the building to see the other sights on the island. We enjoyed viewing antique photographs on a Victorian-era stereoscope and listening to a music box with swappable punched-metal discs, and spent a pleasant evening sipping port and playing chess in the upstairs parlor, feeling very posh. Between the delightful host and hostess, the wonderful food, and the completely unique furnishings, our time at the Compass Rose was unforgettable. We'll definitely be staying here again.

Honestly I am spending to much time on this 10%. We REALLY enjoyed our stay. We would definitely come back!

- long wait,stay in right lane -…read more Came here around 9:50 am on a Sunday and stayed in the ferry waiting line at the right lane. Got in the waiting-to-board area around 10:45 am and boarded the 11 am ferry. The decision to skip Langley is right since many shops weren't open at this time and the ferry wait will only get worse when time progresses. It costs $13.30 for our car with two passengers, but I'm not sure if the number of passengers matter here or not for the price. My guess is that they charge per car. The ferry ride from Clinton to Mukilteo only takes about 20 min, and there was a broadcast to make everyone return to their car at 11:14 am. There is a cafeteria on board but it's tiny. They do have warm options like pretzels with cheese dip or clam chowder. The bathrooms on board have like 15 toilets. Pro tip: the ferry on the hour (or 5 min after) fits 144 cars whereas the other one fits 90 cars. It might help with estimating whether you can make a certain ferry or not lol.

We just got back from an overnight trip with Olympic Coast Sailing. It was an amazing experience!…read more We sailed on the Ingrid Princess with Captain Tracy Hollister from Sequim Bay (John Wayne Marina) to Lopez Island (Fisherman Bay Marina) in the San Juan Islands. Captain Tracy is an extremely knowledgeable and experienced sailor. He is also very familiar with maritime history and the local wildlife. As he entertained us with stories of his sailing adventures in the South Pacific, and his solo, 49-day trip from Japan to Oregon, my fear of being out in the open water dissipated and I thoroughly enjoyed the trip. My husband--an experienced sailor--loved every minute of it, particularly because Captain Tracy let him take the helm. Captain Tracy worked with us to plan our trip. When he learned we wanted to bring our bikes, he suggested Lopez Island because it is bike friendly and fairly flat. He secured our bikes to the side rail and then carefully covered them with bike bags to protect them from the salt water. When we arrived at Fisherman Bay, we attached our panniers and biked .75 miles to Edenwild Boutique Inn. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the island on our bikes! Being on Lopez Island feels like taking a step back in time--everyone smiles and waves. It's a magical place. Our trip was satisfying on so many levels and we definitely intend to sail with Captain Tracy again. We highly recommend this crossing for anyone who enjoys being outdoors.
