I have been here numerous times just for coffee, but also for breakfast menu as well as their dinner bistro menu and have never been disappointed. My only past negative comment may have been the lack of attention from staff, but this is obviously a problem that has been rectified. We had menus and water within seconds of sitting down, waitresses were swift in taking our orders and bringing food and then clearing dishes. We sat for ages as well and didn't feel rushed out or pressured to leave. Defiantly a place to come eat if out but again, it is a little more pricey then perhaps would be expected when compared to the other cafes on the same road.

Still it is a great spot to come to in the village. I venture here about once week at the moment, sometimes for lunch, sometimes just for a coffee or a smoothy. Always lovely. Ive only been to dinner here maybe three times, mostly because i prefer dining here during the day when the sun is out and the birds are chirping. The venue is amazing. It literally sits atop of greenery. Hard to describe but it means that when you sit at the bar it looks like you could drop at an instant. Pretty incredible. This is a popular spot with the youngness and the older generation. Not overly kid friendly but its doable if need be. I also think it can get a little pricey for the village but again that might the thing they are going for.

Even on weeknights the place is packed (and they told us we would be fine on a Thurs evening with a large group, but not a seat left in the house as the night wore on). The food is tasty but expect small portions, so eat before hand, or after if need be! I even got to cook my own fish dish at the table with bunsen burner and timer. Tasted pretty good chef. Service was ok, but seemed a bit unsure of themselves at times, could have been new staff perhaps? Well worth trying out if you are in the area or a local. Hefty price tag but worth the occasional splurge. Enjoy!

This particular night we came we could not get a booking until at least an hour or so later, so we popped in when passing by to see if maybe they could maybe squeeze us in somehow. Luckily, yes, they could give us a table as long as we were finished in an hour. Thank you! We gratefully took it. The service is pretty quick here so did not have to wait long for the orders to be taken. I had the Pork Katsuni with rice ( it can be ordered without rice ) , and my other half had the Pork Miso Katsu. My order came out in the little pot still cooking above a flame and a timer placed next to it for 10 minutes. When it beeps at 10 minutes then it is fully cooked. Worth the ten minutes wait as is pretty good .. Of all the Pork Katsuni i've had this rates up amongst the best. Pork well cooked and all. So overall, service is great, food too, ambience very good, it's clean...and i really like how the split long tables into seperate seatings for 2, 4 or however many. And the price is as expected..not too bad. Well worthy of 5 stars!

I don't know if I have ever eaten so much food for so little money!…read more I'm told Mr Zhou was the previous owner of New Flavour and plenty of dishes are the similar to what you'll find there but what surprised me is that, contrary to the name, Mr Zhou does a whole heap more than dumplings. Don't worry there's still plenty of those doughy delights but there's also hand-pulled noodles, savoury pancakes and this refreshingly zingy salad of cucumber and tofu that fans of New fFavour will know well. Seriously, how does this man find the time.... The interior isn't much to write home about with only a couple of cheap tables and chairs but the food comes out fresh and fast and of course, there's takeaway. You can even purchase the dumplings frozen for $2 less than the menu price to cook at home. I know what I'll be serving at my next dinner party....

There are only about 3-4 small tables, and the food is served in plastic takeaway containers. On the night we visited they were doing a roaring takeaway trade. The owners used to run New Flavour, so they know their way around homemade dumplings, hand-pulled noodles & tasty Chinese food. The menu is very similar to New Flavour, so dumplings are a must - choose from such flavours, and my personal favourites, of Pork, prawn & chives, Mutton & onion and Egg, chives & prawn. You can order them steamed or fried, or even frozen to take them away & cook at home! Other dish recommendations are: Sliced dried tofu & cucumber salad if you can handle a tangy hit of chilli in the dressing, the Fried pancakes, any of the noodle dishes and the Deep-fried eggplant with pork mince stuffing. In fact, give me time & I'd probably list the entire menu! Would love to hear some other tried & true favourites though. Cheap, cheerful Chinese - you can't go wrong!

The restaurant is typically Malaysian family style and therefore, each dish is sizable and is meant to be shared. Both John and Rita are very personable and it shows in the restaurant's efficient and friendly service. Being new to the area, Rita was quick to recommend the XO Chicken (of which she explains, stands for "extra ordinary"!), and Assam Prawns. I also added some curry puffs and an order of Mee Goreng. The food was very tasty and the portions were huge! We had it for dinner and breakfast/lunch the next day! In all, it was lots of fun having a chat with them, learning about the food, their restaurant and up coming holiday. Perhaps, I'll see you in Hawaii.

The XO chicken was amazing and extremely full of flavor - be careful for bones though. Would love to try the XO shrimp next time. The house spicy noodle was amazing as well. Their portions are pretty big so it's best to go with a large party to taste a little bit of everything. They serve hot tea which helps with the heaviness of the food. Great food overall. Think I'll go back when I'm in New Zealand again! BYO alcohol btw!
