I appreciate the excellent customer service I receive when shopping at the store. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. Virginia goes out of her way to help and answer any questions I have. I also consign with them, and they are very fair with their pricing and explanations of the process. What I dislike is trying to schedule an appointment; they are always booked, so they are in high demand. You are allowed to bring in 4 items on Friday, which is popular because I find myself standing in line outside waiting for the store to open. This is a good consignment store. Quality clothes at reasonable prices. Well worth a visit. I do have a concern over the staffing. The most recent manager was aggressive & impolite. I understand she is now gone. That is a positive. Her unfortunate attitude did rub off on one salesperson that has been there for a long time (except a period when she worked at a daycare, I believe) She use to be the kindest most helpful salesperson but now she is abrupt in person and on the phone. I hope she returns to her old self. My favorite employee is the owners daughter. Perfect in every way, although not there very often. read more

I seriously am late on this but she (the only one) helped me out with a cocktail dress for my friend's wedding in October. I almost walked out of the store. After looking at what I thought was their selection of gowns. She stopped me and asked what my occasion was for and where, and what I was looking for, and then immediately pulled out this short chiffon and sequin black cocktail dress that I didn't think was going to fit me. It did, she found 3 more options but I didn't need them and I paid $11 for what I thought would be a $50 dress!! Epic rescue and she must be the owner, I wish I could recall her name! I use to really enjoy shopping at this consignment store. You could find some great unique items and everyone was so friendly. However they recently got new staff who are rude and unfriendly. It's very sad to see this once beloved store fall apart and no longer have excellent costumer. They want to call themselves upscale with Walmart type associates. Very sad. read more

For a consignment shop, this place is beautifully designed. It's sleek and chic and meticulously organized. The clothes here are in great shape, as are the shoes, purses and jewelry. Some things are brand new with tags, but you can tell they scrutinize their items before taking them. The back dressing area is gorgeous! It looks like a bridal fitting dressing room! There are some chairs to chill in while your peeps are trying on clothes! There's also a small men's department which is a plus! Speaking of plus... there's a plus size section, a petite section and a sale section. You'll find many name brand items in this upscale boutique, Gucci, Michael Kors, Coach, Brighton, Chico's to name a few. Some of the prices are decent if you wait for the price to go down by date, but most of the merchandise here is pricey. I saw many prices that were well above outlet prices, and they were pre-owned. So... beware of sticker shock. If you shop here are are comfortable with the prices, here's to you! For others, like me, I prefer a real bargain but if you hunt, you may find one! I was surprised at the high priced jewelry, $75 for a tarnished silver rose necklace with a ribbon cord. I recently learned from the owner that some of the jewelry, like the piece aforementioned, is made by local jewelry designers and the designers set their own prices. They also have sales on jewelry so you can also get discounts that way! I was also informed that a savvy shopper can find some great deals on they sale rack and put together a whole outfit for 10$! Way to go! However, even though this place wasn't my taste, it's great for the consignors, who I assume get a great split for their gently used pieces. Despite the prices, this place gets high marks for its presentation. They also deserve applause for the polite, respectful and professional way the owner responds to reviews! Well done! read more

I think I prefer them to another consignment I'd been to, on Cary st. At Its Chic Again, you have a clear breakdown of how they price and how you are compensated. I had nothing of that nature at another store on Cary Street, and received $10 for a somewhat expensive handbag I'd left, no mention of how much it sold for. At least here, they price well and everything is clear. Staff are friendly. The boutique is somewhat hidden though, so if you're not familiar with the small shopping area, it'll take a few minutes. There is ample parking and their displays are very nice. read more

I took several items into the store hoping to sell. I was somewhat disappointed with the service as I called about my items, and they had not sold. I told the clerk I wanted to pick them up. She told me they would send me an email when they were ready. I never heard from them. When I went to the store (about 30 minutes from my home) the items had been given to Goodwill or wherever they send items. I also had two other larger items that I wanted to pick up and was told it would take 72 hours to get them ready, I went back they were not ready! I did finally on the 3rd trip there get my items. I noticed the "clerk" I had dealt with totally ignored me and it was clear she didn't want to help me. Even after I got my items there was no apology for the delay. I won't go back! read more

Consigned my high end designer clothing for the first time recently, and I have to say I am more than pleased. They make the process seamless and instantaneous with processing and getting my things out on the floor for sale. You can tell these ladies work very hard at what they do there. They took the time before to go through everything in the contract and my responsibilities as a consignor to keep track of. They are just like every consignment store I have seen with the timed markdowns which seem more than fair. I cross my fingers it sells on first price but if not its okay I would have donated anyways so anything is better than nothing! I am excited to continue doing business with the wonderful ladies there and grateful they make selling my used items easy on me! read more

I used to consign with them years ago and although my items were sold and in a timely manner I was told on more than one occasion they did not have any money for me. The female staff were too busy chatting among themselves to help me when I asked them something regarding purses on multiple visits to the store. I guess as the expression goes my loss is someone else's gain as they made lots of money from the items I consigned. One time I brought a friend to see a pair of jeans I just knew she would love and she was ignored by the employee. My friend wears a size 0 or 1 and loved the jeans; however, after waiting over 15 minutes to pay for them we left. We had lunch at a nearby restaurant and returned to the store in hopes she would purchase the jeans and again were ignored. Hindsight we believe the employees only want to wait on the customers who appear to be rich. With this said we donate our clothing, purses, shoes and so forth. Be careful of the jewelry you may want to select as two rings I was informed were 14K yellow gold and bought when I took them to be appraised I was informed both were gold over silver and I paid over $400.00 for each ring. read more

I retired 10 years ago from a very lengthly successful sales and management career. I do not see how this store is still in business because they are rude, unprofessional and they lie about your clothes and commissions. I took beautiful clothes to them (big mistake) and they sold them for practically nothing. The real clincher was a pair of expensive Eileen Fisher white jeans with tags still attached ($178). I called to find out why they were not returned since they didn't sell. They gave me some bull about if the clothes are past their date (my date was August 1) then they are their's. They cannot tell me when they sold because I called on August 9th and spoke with a young woman about not selling anything else and she said they pull clothes on Thursday and I followed up with an email on August 11th and stated that I wanted all of the clothes back. I could have donated these clothes and come out better than this. When I told the woman that I was not happy with the amount of money from the sale she literally laid into me with a tirade of..."well I have never heard that and we have over 6,000 consignees', and a waiting list a mile long. I'm just trying to find out what happened to my pants and why they were not returned with the other items not sold. So today I get a notice that they were sold and my commission is $11. I'm livid and will do this company more harm by warning others not to consign with them. What kind of professional behavior is that? I implore you not to use this company to sell your clothes, especially if they are in perfect condition. I will never step foot in this store and yes most of the great reviews are people buying the clothes which they sell for pratically noting. In the future I will continue to go to Clementine, or sell clothes on PoshMark and other sites. They are the worst Consignment shop in Richmond and many other cities I have lived in, including Boston and Baltimore. read more

I have noticed recently that Chic Again is beginning to carry lesser quality items. Last time I shopped there I found several Blair blouses and a few Kohls's store brand items in the racks - not exactly the high end items I am used to finding here. I enjoy consigning AND shopping here... I tend to take advantage of the "4 item Wednesdays" for consigning and have only made one actual appointment. I have heard complaints about difficulty in booking appointments but that is not the case... It's just a desirable place to consign and therefore you must book in advance. This is a business and is not haphazard- they are thorough, and fair. I have never walked out of this shop without finding an amazing bargain on high end clothing items (and shoes), particularly in the clearance section in the far back right of the store. read more

When I consigned here, many of my items went "missing". No explanation was given and no apology was offered. Each time I took items in, and they were accepted to be consigned; then I would get a call to come back and pick up 1 or 2 of those items, several days later. This happened every time I took items in. When I called ahead, per store policy, to inform them, that I would be coming in, on a certain date, to pick up my items, so please pull them for me--only to be told that they did not get them pulled and who did I talk to. I had given them one week's notice, so they could get all of my winter items pulled. Very disorganized shop. read more

My "It's Chic Again!" Consignment shop experience was phenomenal! I went to find a wedding dress (they have tons of beautiful dresses in the 6-12 sizes) and found the perfect dress, which was tough because there were so many wonderful dresses to choose from that fit wonderfully. The store was neat, orderly, and clean and it was obvious that they are selective about the items that come into the store. The dresses, jewelry and everything else I saw was of very high quality. The staff was incredibly helpful - Laurie previously worked at a bridal shop and her experience and input made the dress selection so fun and stress-free. This is a super large consignment boutique with great finds! I find many items each time I go. The owners are extremely knowledgeable about pricing and brand names. You are going to want to spend at least 40 minutes because the selection is so great and there are hidden gems (literally) in the glass cases! My daughter bought a pair if Emilio Pucci pumps almost new with the box for under $170. They are this seasons and sell for $525 at Neimans. I spent about $140 and came home with 5 designer tops, a Burberry necklace, and chic pair of cargo capris from White House Black Market. Some items have new price tags still on them! read more
