By far the worst uptown cheapskate location. I never have a problem selling at least a few things at any other location, but this is the second time that they haven't taken anything in my bags due to "fast fashion" meanwhile I have a bag with loft Madewell and Zara items... if your store is too full, maybe you should tell people that. I do not recommend to sell or buy from this place. Store smells bad. They say they only buy high-end clothing but the racks are full of ugly low-end old clothes. I took pictures to show the ugly clothes! Much better items are in thrift stores for better prices. Do good and donate your things to a charitable organization. Staff is snippy and on a power trip. Took a bunch of clothes. Some even still had tags and all was rejected. Reasons given - skinny jeans no longer in style, flower print not selling well, brands can be found on Amazon and they can't compete with proving (um used clothes should never be priced higher than new and I find that contradictory since many brands I saw on the store could be found on Amazon- Nike, Ugh, Kate Spade). Was told my clothes smelled - um ok yeah like the cedar blocks you buy to put in your dresser drawers! At least they didn't smell old and musty like the store did - and the stench in the store was so overpowering not sure how they could smell anything on the clothes. Also, online said they wanted graphic T's but they rejected every graphic I had bc it had a graphic. Makes zero sense! Out of all the clothes I had which included Ann Taylor, tekgear, Reebok, etc the one shirt they said they were willing to take was a $9.99 shirt bought from Lowe's. Then looking around at the clothes they had displayed - old north face fuzzy jackets no longer fuzzy - well warn, dirty shoes, white shirts no longer white, nothing they had in there was better than what I had. But the 20 yr old with multiple facial piercing obviously had a different idea of style. And prices were crazy! Nike air tennis shoes- dirty tread half gone - maybe had 6 months of life left in them priced at $49. Ugg rain boots obviously worn with scuffs around the heals that are not going to come out $69.99, by sweatshirt $29.99. Kate Spade Purses nothing under $50 - had a cute one for $49 but was missing the shoulder strap. So maybe the place to go if you want a used Kate Spade purse otherwise I have found nicer clothes in far better condition and less expensive at Good Will and other thrift stores. read more

Shoppers can't be the cheapskates but they certainly can be. Not only do you not have the chance to refuse their offer if they lowball you but they'll cheat you. $47 for $500 worth in clothing should be classified as theft especially if they don't offer the option to come pick up your stuff. Go to Plato's Closet or just sell your stuff on Marketplace. This place is a scam taking your clothes worth $60 to give you $5 and turn around and sell them for $50. Then pile that garbage business model on with apathetic employees who don't present well. If you're getting rid of old clothes just take them to goodwill. You'll feel better about yourself instead of feeling cheated. read more

For anyone who's "clothes-minded", this is your kind of store! Cheapskates unite! Forget shopping downtown! Come on Uptown! If you are looking for name brand name clothes, shoes and accessories at fabulous prices, eureka! You found paradise! This location is neater, more organized and friendlier than the one at Short Pump. The owner was nice and told us that the stores are franchised. The dressing rooms are comfy, and the store is well merchandised. We found some great finds, J. Crew, Anthro, Marc Jacobs and more. Men's and women's! I found an awesome blazer for my hubby at a fantastic price! They have discounts too, and sales... like their Black Friday sale! The staff was super friendly, helpful and sweet. One of them easily corrected and error on my purchase, and she went scouring the racks for a particular top I was interested in buying. She found it! We left with arm loads of cool finds and are looking forward to returning. With RVA's consignment stores declining, I'm happy Uptown came to town! read more

Not just this location but really all Uptown Cheapskate's are severely overpriced for secondhand clothing. At this location however one of the workers was dressed so inappropriately it made me extremely uncomfortable. By that I mean her whole butt was out. Would've been a really cute outfit for a night out/club/etc but in broad daylight AND at work it was really jarring and unacceptable. read more

I have shopped here several times and love the selection of clothing. However, last night we arrived for a quick visit at 7:30 and I have to say the employees were extremely unwelcoming. They turned the lights down low and turned the music off at 7:30. If you are closing at 8 discouraging shoppers a half hour early and trying to get them to leave is odd and not good for business. read more

My experience at this store was utterly astounding. The selection for men, women, girls, and boys is enough to bring a smile to my face. The staff was welcoming and helpful with a special thanks to the exceptional blonde manager that carved out time to give me above and beyond customer care. I walked into the establishment with a warm welcome from a friendly worker named Sarah. I saw her hustling and assisting others with the best attitude someone could have. Another co-worker named Henri made my experience the best he was always there when I had questions about something or a clothing item, he kindly directed me to the fitting room when I needed to try some clothes I picked out. When I was ready to checkout Henri happily rung my clothes up and was the kindest most hard-working soul at the establishment. These people are so great, and they truly need a raise!!! read more

I am always so thrilled when I find places to shop where I can find employees who are happy and who love their jobs! For one, the location of this store is so convenient. I'm so glad to not have to make the trip to Short Pump to shop at a UC! Secondly, I feel as though when they buy clothes from customers, they offer extremely fair and sometimes very generous prices! I love that they also offer in-store credit (I think like 25% more than their cash value) which is a huge bonus to me! Jess is ALWAYS so kind and helpful to me. She knows me and my daughter by name and we've only been in a handful of times! Took some of nice things there several days ago but didn't sell anything because it was "too out dated" and "not their style." I'm really not sure what is their border of taking the item or not, but I've had some brand new items from stores like hollister, aero, under armor and etc. in there too. I waited at the store for about 45 min to get my items checked out which is probably fair considering there was two or three people waiting to sell some items. I could not find anything at the store while waiting, there was some decent item but some was over priced considering the condition of the item. Ended up taking exact same items to Ashby and they took several items for decent amount of money. I'm definitely not going to come back here to sell or buy anything as few of older employees weren't nice/friendly nor helpful. (Though younger employees were really good) read more
