I just read the only review for It's Just Lunch and need to reply to the quite angry and frustrated member. I Joined IJL about six months ago and met my boyfriend on my third date and went on hold. Like any dating service, including Match.com, eHarmony, and so on, you take your chance when you join a dating service but we all join in hopes of meeting someone that will become our life partner, our confidante, our friend. Joining these services brings us into contact with people outside of our social circle, allowing us to meet people we would never cross paths with. Some of the dates are good and some not so good, but this is no reflection on the services we join. It is a matter of meeting someone that is compatible and that does not happen overnight and most often does not happen on the first date. There was a lot of trash talk in the other review about IJL's claim for being a dating services for busy professionals and yes this is in the company's advertising but all of us go through an extensive interview process with the owner of the company and we are asked if we want to only date "professionals" or if we would be willing to date people in blue collar jobs or technical professions. We are asked a wide range of questions to nail down who we are looking for what our "deal breakers" are. If you are not completely honest in answering the questions you will be set up on dates that you are not compatible with because the company can only go by what you have told them. Joining IJL was one of the best moves I made in my life!!! Not only did I meet my boyfriend but I met a wonderful group of people that have enhanced my social life. And yes, it may be considered expensive to some but if you are a busy professional, as I am, it is worth every penny. I was not going to hang out in bars at my age hoping to meet Mr. Right. The format of IJL allows the members to meet for a drink, cup of coffee, or lunch in a relaxed, safe arena. As a woman, this was an important aspect of joining this service. I've only been on 3 dates with this company, you don't get any information about the potential date except a brief description. You can't get any more info about the people unless you agree to exchange phone numbers during your first date and then they have your contact info too. This is scary considering 2 of the three people they matched me with had criminal histories. One of them was still married! Even though I specifically stated I did not want to date people who are separated. I wish I would have read these reviews before signing up. This is one the most expensive mistakes I've ever made. The matchmaker is not really a match maker at all, they are a scam service selling scams, they lie about the potential date they set you up with in hopes you will agree to meeting and then they claim they've fulfilled their obligation. Long story short.. Not worth it. Signed up for 6 months back in Oct 2008. Fresh off my divorce and being in a new town with not many friends at the time, I figured what the heck! Wasted my time and money. They told me they wouldn't accept me as a member if they felt that had no one of within my interests they could match me with.. That was obviously a bold faced lie. Went on 4 dates of the 6-8 I was committed to. Met some nice people, dont get me wrong.. But ZERO of them had traits I listed as my "interests". This matchmaking service is the biggest scam on earth. As soon as they collect their large fee you never hear from anyone. They prey upon lonely people, promising you all sorts of dates and never follow thru. I'm reporting them to the BBB and filing a complaint in small claims court. read more

Ladies, DO NOT do this. While I did meet a couple of nice men (we weren't matches tho), the Reno IJL does NOT have hardly any male members (and perhaps not female, I'm not sure about that). Plus IJL misrepresented the age of each of my dates by 2-3 years (always saying they were younger than they were). My last date they told me he was in "sales and marketing." He was a blue collar delivery person. The only way he could afford the service was that he inherited money. Save yourself the time, money and hassle! Do not sign up for Reno IJL!! I paid $2300 for five guaranteed dates within a one years time. The dating specialist assured me their matchmaking service was a qualitatively better experience than the online dating I had been doing. Like a fool, I believed her, only to find that the dates seemed to be random, based primarily on availability and location, rather than anything uniquely related to what I was looking for. I was consistently asked to meet men who were significantly older than me, even though I requested over and over again to be matched with someone nearer my own age. My impression is that the dating pool they are working from in the Reno area is too small to really make the service work. I think anyone in the area would do better to use online sites that are a fraction of the cost and provide better results, as dismal as those results might be...trust me, they're still better than It's Just Lunch. I ended up filing a complaint against the company with the Better Business Bureau because they did not provide me with the five dates I was contracted for. I only went on four dates, one of which was so inappropriate that the dating specialist promised to give me an additional date to make up for it. So by my accounting, after two years, I'm still owed two dates. I wrote to the company, but no one responded. Than I called the company and got into a very unpleasant conversation with someone from their corporate offices. Their idea of customer service seems to be to bully and berate you into agreeing with them. I just now got off the phone with one of It's Just Lunch's customer service representatives, who called me because of the complaint I filed. She is now claiming that two dates that I was scheduled for that I had to cancel still count as dates, even though I never met the potential matches. Throughout the two years that I was with the service, none of their representatives ever told me that a cancelled date still counts against your total, in fact they all told me that I still was due the number of dates that I thought I was due...until now, of course, when I have filed a complaint and suddenly they're telling me that they have fulfilled their side of the contract. I tried on several occasions to get out of my contract and get a prorated refund because I was so disappointed by the service they were providing, which was NOT what they'd sold me on, but getting out of the contract is impossible. The representative did offer to give me additional dates once I filed my complaint, but honestly, what's the point in that? They simply don't have anyone appropriate to choose from. Also, and they don't tell you this, they will only give you one date every three months, so if you meet a man that you don't care for, you still have to wait three months for another introduction. So if you think you'll get more than the minimum number of dates you sign up for, think again. You'll be lucky if you get any dates with an appropriate match. It seems to me that this company puts all their effort into sales and very little into providing the service they say they provide. And this is not just my experience. Three out of the four men I met through them also had the same impression. In fact one said he was so disgusted with the second date he'd been given because she wasn't even remotely resembling what he'd told his dating specialist he was looking for, that he wasn't willing to meet any more of their matches, even though he had paid a huge amount of money for the service. He just wrote it off as a poor decision and moved on. And that's where I'm at. It's not worth the emotional stress and aggravation to try to get this company to live up to their responsibilities. I don't think they're even capable of it. My best advice - save your money. This company is all talk and no performance. They say they are matchmakers, but in reality, it's all about the money. To give credit where it's due, they are amazing salespeople, but what they're selling doesn't exist, at least not here in the Reno area. read more

WORST THING EVER! DO NOT SIGN UP! WHAT A SCAM AND A WASTE OF MONEY! One they have the WORST let me repeat THE WORST customer service EVER. They set you up with men that shouldn't even be out dating. One guy was STILL MARRIED!!! Unbelievable! Another guy was obviously emotionally unstable after a recent divorce and crazy ex-wife. Went on several dates none of them panned out and they would try to talk you into going out with the guy again. Heck no. Two they only care about charging you as much as possible for dates. They raised the price of each date without letting me know (they doubled it). Jennifer the owner promised to send me a signed contract and never did. THEY REALLY DON'T care about you only the profit they can make off you. After a few months they stop setting you up on dates and you're basically paying for nothing. WORST COMPANY AND SERVICE EVER!!! I had heard about IJL through some of the employees at work and soon starting hearing the radio advertisement. So on a whim one day after work I set up an appointment for a free 2 hour interview. Going with no intention to sign up that night and make a decision later I was excited about starting the dating process half way through the interview, yet at the same time skeptical about the amount of money involved. So I went with that gut feeling and signed up right away before I talked my self out of it. Within 10 days I was on my first date. My second date came along and we kept setting up dates on the weekends and enjoying our time together and it has never ended. We are now engaged and soon to be married this year. I was very pleased in the way IJL put there program together for meeting your dates and feeling comfortable about it. Now into my 4th month . One date that was good , but after a bit we decided we were not a good fit , one cancellation , and two women that I rejected that were quite a bit overweight .FOUR MONTHS . The two Reno offices closed long ago . Calls now go to Phoenix . Their communication is terrible . They rarely return calls or e-mails . The sales force is REALLY good . They try quite hard to act like a friend . They could sell ice to an Eskimo , and I'm guessing they have no problem picking on someone vulnerable from a bad situation.They say things like " oh I've got three files on my desk that would be perfect for you " . And ," call me with updates on how things are going" . Well , I called to ask who to complain to to get things moving ..surprise , no response ever again . I'm sure they make a good commission on the sale . Your just another notch on their belt . Once you give them a credit card the whole thing changes . The majority of these negative reviews are spot on . Not angry ...no one twisted my arm to sign up , just a bad choice on my part . I would have rather donated the money to a good cause instead of wasting it on a sham business . WOULD ABSOLUTELY NOT GIVE THEM ANY MONEY . read more
