Dr. Haimovic is an excellent neurologist. One of the best in my opinion. Medically, you couldn't be in better hands. Unfortunately, he's has a lot of commitments and is in high demand. The wait time in this office is long. Very long. Very very long. In fact, there are occasions, when I check-in, and I'm told to go to the mall, go to movies, go have lunch, etc. The longest I waited for my appointment is close to five hours. The quickest I have ever been seen in three hours. Just know, if you plan an appointment, it's best to have a backup plan to kill time. read more

At 2:36PM not only had he not been seen, my mother was told that they were still just seeing patients with a 9:30 AM appointment. I could not believe this so I called the front office myself where I was told that this is the standard practice for the doctor to run behind. Don't go here if you have other commitments. Naturally, this is doable for the bulk of his patients (70/above), but for anyone with work or other appointments, seeing him is a frustrating experience. He seems to have a complete disregard for patient's time and other commitments. Waited 4 hours, then I had enough and left. Other patients said this is how he runs every day. Then why continue to overbook patients to such a degree? Very unprofessional. Front desk staff is not helpful either: They give false wait time estimates (or they also don't understand the doctor's system). If they could at least give accurate estimates, we could plan accordingly, take work calls while waiting, reschedule subsequent appointments, etc. - instead they just always say "you're next". They also do not take phone calls, let alone emails. Very difficult scheduling process. I've had enough of them. Someone had the nerve to answer the phone and tell me I had three people ahead of me and then I'm going to continue holding continue holding and then I went to voicemail. It's horrible. Not quite sure where to begin in expressing my absolute disgust with Dr. Haimovic. I could easily piggy-back on the vast array of comments that discuss his complete lack of consideration for the time of his patients (I arrived at 730 for an 8am appointment....was finally seen shortly after 11), but, based on other reviews, that was a given. What really set me off was the way he handled the situation when a patient had a negative reaction to an EMG test. It was evident throughout the test, which involves administering a series of electro-shocks to a patient's affected area, that the patient was in discomfort. While I am not a doctor, the signs of distress were obvious - change in breathing patterns, loss of color in face. However, it was when the patient passed out that his true lack of understanding of the gravity of the situation came through. Rather than call nurses for assistance, he laid the patient down and put a cold compress on his head. When the patient finally came to, he opted to crack a few jokes rather than do a more formal medical assessment. EMTs were contacted. One would think he would have given a medical report to the EMTs, providing them with important and relevant information. The "doctor" and his team were nowhere to be found. While I know that he supposedly has a stellar reputation, my experiences lead me to conclude that doctor's like this should not be evaluated on reputation alone. if you are dealing with a neurological issue, I cannot recommend strongly enough to look elsewhere for your medical needs. read more

This office is a Holy MESS!!!!! I took my parents for neurological issues for an 8 am appointment my father was finally seen at 12:50 pm then acctually waited 45 minutes at the reception desk trying to schedule their appointments. In addition when my mother had an episode Dr Haimovik asked us to notify him. We left numerous messages with no response and getting through to the office was another nightmare. You either get put on hold for 25 minutes then goes into voicemail leave a message and nobody gets back to you or theyll put you on hold and disconnect the call. If you want your sanity stay away from this office. The icing on the cake was I had an evening appointment for my mother and they rescheduled it and told me that I rescheduled it after confirming yesterday and today. If I could give less than 1 star I would. Let me start by saying the average wait is 3-4 hours not minutes. The staff actually told my husband to come 3 hours after his scheduled appointment and still waited an hour. That would be ok if he was exceptional however he is horrible. He prescribed a number of medications all of which were not effective. Thank GOD I am a nurse, the medications he prescribed my husband for his height, weight and condition were so erroneous that had he taken enough for his body weight/ and pain management he would have exceeded the allowed amount of acetaminophen causing liver damage. He needs his license taken away and I will report him to the proper authorities to ensure this happens. read more

Amazing caring doctor. My daughter suffered from dibilitating severe daily migraines. He listened to all her symptoms, ran several tests and diagnosed her issue by the second visit. He also ruled out other issues that put my mind at ease. He prescribed a daily medication and one we reserve for severe migraines. Both meds were spot on! I will never go back there again. Reception is RUDE RUDE RUDE. They look at you like you have 6 heads when you ask a simple question. My first appointment I was there for over 4 hours. It was at 8 am, was told to be there at 7:45 but no receptionist even came in until 8:15. Dr. Haimovic was friendly but rushed the appt. He was wearing purple gloves and when began examining and touching my head, I noticed make up on his gloves and I was not wearing make up! I was so DISGUSTED!! Dr Haimovic is an excellent doctor however we waited for hours 4 to be exact. Then he gave a prescription and spent a total of 5 minutes with us. The front staff is rude and the young lady that puts you into exam room is rude. I understand patients are always asking and complaining about the long wait. Instead of apologizing the staff is very rude and could careless. My time is valuable also. If Dr. Haimovic was not such a good doctor I would of be GONE. No return phone calls, literally had an argument with the receptionist as they tried to switch me to another doctor and claimed that I Never made the follow up appointment a month ago with Dr Haimovic yet they had me booked instead with a doctor I had never heard of. I was very impressed and thankful for the ability to get a quick appointment with Dr. Haimovic, when I was having an acute episode. Yes, there was a 'wait period' in the waiting room, but I it was worth it as he did a very good exam, gave me the time I needed and listened attentively. I canceled my follow-up appointment with Dr. Haimovic today, after deciding I would not subject myself to another painful experience of being left in his waiting room for an excessive outrageous amount of time due to incomprehensible poor time management skills. Really how hard is it to use a watch to manage his time? This was my third visit. My appointment was for 9 a.m. I arrived at 8:50 a.m. At 11:45 a.m. I rescheduled with the office staff since I had to drive an hour and ten minutes back home to a scheduled physical therapy appointment. At 12:24 I received a call to drive back to the office since Dr. Haimovic was now ready to see me. He was 3 1/2 hours late. I determined with the 5 1/2 hours I spent trying to see Dr. Haimovic I could easily travel to see a specialist in NYC, watch a movie, and still have time to spare returning home. So I am anticipating my time will be more valuable in NYC. No doubt the care I received for the first two appointments with Dr. Haimovic was exceptional. Unfortunately without pain medicine, I determined there was no way I could continue sitting on his office chairs. My recommendation would be for Dr. Haimovic to re-acquaint himself with a working pocket watch, hire a few physician assistants for patient care while he is in his office on the phone, and install more comfortable chairs. read more

I've been under Haimovic's care for over a year now. I've seen 35 doctors for this rare vision/headache issue, and I can say FROM EXPERIENCE, he is the best in the business. He cracked it and I'm now on a steady road to recovery. You'll wait a while if you want to seem him, but it is because he takes his time with patients. I don't get why this guy is so renowned. You wait three hours to see him, because he overbooks people (even his receptionists admit it). When you finally see him, he's nice and all, but it feels rushed and it's hard to understand him. He runs all these tests and then recommends a different specialist. No one can see that many people and take on that many patients and still be of sound mind. It's just not sustainable. Worst experience I've ever had at a doctor. Made me wait for 2 hours. The doctor doesn't care at all that people are waiting for hours. After they called me to the room they made me wait again for 30 mins. Made no effort about caring about the issues I had, instead just did some usual protocol and left me with a prescription that I later found out was the wrong solution. As a doctor, this guy is THE best. In fact, you don't get any better. He is routinely called upon by the courts and news reporters for his expert opinion. That alone speaks volumes. He is kind and caring and always has a smile on his face. HOWEVER, (and this is a HUGE however), if you really want to see him, prepare to wait for HOURS past your appointment time as he gives everyone individual and thorough attention while his staff double and triple book appointment times. He has a great calming approach and refreshingly conservative approach to medicine. I don't usually write reviews, but today I just have to. I am a new patient of Dr. Haimovic who came in for MRI's and an ultrasound of my arteries. My review will be based off of the front desk staff and not the doctor because he seems to be passionate about what he does and has come highly recommended. I was called to the front desk my an employee by the name of Marsha. Off the jump she's telling me that I owe them $50 dollars in copays for the sonograms that will be performed on my arteries. I have no problem paying my copays ($25) so I question her on why I am being charged a double copay. She tells me that there are two sonograms that are being performed and that's what they charge. I tell her, usually offices wait for the EOB's to come in from the insurance companies before they can confirm that two copays apply to sonograms (I work in a billing office for a medical practice) she said that's what they charge. I then ask her are you charging me two copays because I'm getting an office visit with the doctor after my MRI she says no it's for the sonograms. She automatically catches and attitude. She tells me that I'm early for my sonogram I said ok no problem. 15 minutes pass from the time that my sonogram was scheduled and everyone who was in the waiting room before me is called in and I'm still sitting in the waiting room waiting to be called in ( I would assume she did this on purpose ) finally my mother in law is so annoyed at the situation that she goes up to Marsha and asks her how much longer until I get called in. Marsha replies the sono tech comes from the city( Manhattan ) and is stuck in traffic. Why she didn't tell me that before is beyond me but again I'm sure she did it on purpose. So I come to the other building where my MRI's will be performed to tell her that the sono tech has not arrived and will most likely be late for my MRI's. The receptionist (Niki) calls Marsha to see what's going. Niki tells me to go back to the other side because the sono tech was there. I go back to turn around to find out that the sono tech was there the entire time and Marsha lied saying that she wasn't there. She was even going to allow another patient to get the sonograms before me because I was in the building where the MRI's are performed. When I get back all the other people sitting in the front desk are telling Marsha "be nice, be nice". I don't understand how Dr. Haimovic has people who carry themselves in this manner working for him. The front desk is the face of the practice. How are you supposed to feel comfortable coming into an office when you're not being treated fairly by the employees just for asking a simple question? read more

after arriving for a 4:15 pm appointment we were not called in till close to 7 pm. upon entering the examination room we were asked the normal introductory questions then that aid left. 45 min later sitting in this room without knowing what we were waiting for .......being 4 hrs after our arrival my wife and i looked at each other and decided to leave......i don"t believe such a disregard for peoples and the curtness from the front desk to everyone that was asking how much longer should be tolerated by any patient no matter who the doctor is...total disregard for the patients waiting....you need to have compassion for the patient .....if you cant set a protocol with your patient ....find another profession read more

Haimovic is great doctor. He is the expert, but expect the long wait. I would prefer to wait for the best than go to someone who don't know what they are doing especially when your health is involved. He can do an MRI onsite if needed and he reads it the same day for you. I don't see why people complain about the wait. Dr. Haimovic was recommended for my grandmother by the nurse at Atria Great Neck. He is an excellent and very thorough doctor. His report was a little confusing and his office is not very well run. I attempted to drop off paperwork before her first appointment and because she had not been seen before, she did not have a file. They basically just put her paperwork into his mailbox. The paperwork was not found until the end of the appointment. For all follow-ups you see the PA, not the doctor. I understand that there are certain things a PA can do, but the doctor should still participate in the appointment. Or at minimum at least BE in the office that day. At the follow-up, the PA couldn't answer certain questions and Dr. Haimovic wasn't there, so I left the appointment feeling very frustrated. In fact the PA completely contradicted what the doctor had put in his report. When I called to speak to Dr. Haimovic(which was a whole federal case to get him on the phone) he said that what the PA had said to contradict him was incorrect and she would not have said that. THAT's trustworthy. I later found out that you can schedule a follow-up with the doctor, but you will be waiting 3-4 hours. Hours? 3-4 HOURS?!?! That is BEYOND ridiculous!! Dr. Haimovic is an excellent doctor, but the way that his office is run makes him a lot less appealing. read more

This is the first time I have written a negative review for anyone. As a patient of Dr. Haimivic, I am aware that his wait time is longer than most doctors. However, what occurred on my 7/11/19 visit was truly the most unprofessional experience I've had at a doctor's office. I arrived at 1:30 for my 2:00 appointment and was informed that my wait time would be at least 2 hours. It was suggested that I go for lunch and the office would call when the doctor was close to being available. I did not receive a call, so I returned to the office at 3:30. I was told by an apologetic staff member that the wait time would still be another 2 hours, which would be over 4 hours from my initial appointment. I asked if there was anything that could be done because I wasn't able to wait another 2 hours. A second staff member asked if I would be willing to see a different doctor who might be available in another hour. Instead, I asked to make an early morning appointment with Dr, Haimivic for another day. Without looking at a schedule, the second staff member rudely said, "that would be in November." I declined and left the office. Dr. Haimivic is a very competent doctor, but no patient should be treated as if their time was insignificant. New patients should be aware of the total unprofessionalism of the office. read more

I have a serious neurological problem and could not settle for any neurologist. I had to have the best. As it turns out, that is Dr. Haimovic. This is not only my opinion but the opinion of many patients as well as many Doctors. He is very thorough, skilled, personal and compassionate. Those traits are consistent in my ongoing visits and treatment. He is absolutely First Class.
