Derrick helped me navigate a very challenging situation to rebuild the entire back wall of my home and attached deck due to water damage. Scope: New insulation, plywood sheathing, composite siding, soffit, and fascia for back wall. Replaced rim joist, headers, and other structural wood as needed from water damage. Re-installed windows and sliding glass door incorrectly installed by previous contractor. Rebuilt pressure treated wood deck with improved layout. Derrick's attention to detail and pride in his work translated to a solution that addressed all of my goals and helped me understand mistakes made by previous contractors. He spent hours reviewing options and brainstorming with me as more damage was uncovered and the scope had to expand as we went. I knew composite was the way to go so I don't have to worry about maintenance. Within an hour we had a plan. I had a hard time narrowing down colors but helped by offering his suggestions. The colors I picked were some newer options Trex released and Derrick said he was excited to see how it turns out. Derrick and Luke came out and when I watched them work I was highly impressed. They worked like machines; measuring and communicating like a good team should. Luke is clearly a highly skilled carpenter. I had an idea for angled steps and even though it's a bit complicated he took on the project and built some really cool stairs that make my deck unique. Their attention to detail really showed and they kept me informed of their progress through an app with daily updates in what was complete. Communication was top notch and thats important to me. Pulse wasn't the cheapest company, but the value was great. You get what you pay for and Im glad that I finally have a beautiful deck to enjoy. But the windows are locally made in Chicago (Lang Exterior Windows) which made me feel good about supporting American made. We got double hung, triple pane, and they looked and worked so much better than what we had. The color matched the old ones perfectly. They took one day to install 8 windows. We have since sold the home and moved on but have already ordered more windows for the new house and I can't wait to see them in. I am hoping I will not have issues long term like other reviewers have listed, but figure maybe those who had a successful interaction just never took time to comment and its just those who are upset that have taken to the web to vent. And when I researched the Lang window manufactuer I did not find anything bad about them... so fingers crossed I won't be cursing myself in 2 years! But so far- so good!

HUGE tree? On a hill? Little access?N O P R O B L E M for these guys!…read more Seriously... WW! John & his amazingly talented team of climbers, cutters, trimmers and equipment operators are absolutely 2nd to NONE! I had a massive, 70' Oak tree in a landscaping bed, surrounded by a retaining wall & concrete patios, on a hill, lakeside in Somonauk, IL in the Lake Holiday subdivision. I called three different tree services who told me it was too complicated and dangerous and couldn't (and / or wouldn't) do it. Then I found John on Angie's List. Only TWO companies came up as options and after speaking with John, my search was over. He assured me that no job is too small or too big for them to do. The timing was right and they had my tree down safely, literally two days later. It took five guys and nearly two days to get this tree down. At first the $12K price tag seemed ridiculous until I saw what they all did and what was involved. This was a dangerous and very complicated job and absolutely fascinating to watch. The guys were in constant communication with each other and completed the job quickly and safely. Each and every branch was 'tethered', "caught" once cut, and then slowly lowered to the ground, picked up and taken away so as to disturb as little of my landscaping as possible. WOW! John (the owner) was very personable, accommodating & clear when explaining everything. He even had the guys cut up the nicer pieces of wood for my firepit and offered to load it into our neighbor's trailer for him to take away for himself. When they were finished, they cleaned everything up including an area of our neighbor's yard that had blown debris in it. How's THAT for customer service "above and beyond the call"...! WOW! The company name implies it's just a gutter business but check out my photos and you'll see the real talent lies in their tree service.
