I've lived here for more than 7 years and FINALLY came to Ivanna Cone. Very unLincoln like of me, I know, and I apologize. I didn't know what I was missing. This is such a treat. The sweet smell of vanilla, the vintage feel, the excellent customer service (they offer free samples and my server was very upbeat and patient) and the awesome ice cream. Ummm, do this please. It's specialty so not the cheapest (AND ONLY ACCEPT CASH OR CHECK) but if you're having dinner in the Haymarket, consider skipping dessert and make your way here. I had a scoop of Dutch Chocolate (yes, yes, YES I highly recommend this one) and the white chocolate mint (even had little white chocolate chips. It was good, fresh and light, especially if you're in a mint kind of mood). I like ice cream but if I have a choice in desserts, ice cream is not likely my top choice. The employees had great customer service, answered our questions and offered samples of flavors we weren't sure about. First I love the eclectic atmosphere, all the faces in things like the door to the kitchen, the trash can, etc. makes me smile. The staff was very helpful, courteous and fast. I like the many unique ice cream flavors made from scratch. I got the coffee cookie dough. It was delicious but sadly not as much cookie dough as I was hoping for. In one cone I had three bites of cookie dough. The coffee flavor was also a little on the weak side. Maybe it was a light roast coffee. I do think the Archetype coffee flavor at Coneflower is better. I need to start off by saying I am completely honest and very Blunt when it comes to my reviews on Yelp and other places... why you ask? because people need to know the truth bad or good. I have been Ivannacone dozens and dozens of times over the 15 years I have lived here.....and other than VERY small portions for what we pay for and most of the time VERY pushy millennials that aren't patient behind the counter most of the time it tastes good and not so much of an issue...HOWEVER the last 2 times myself and family have gone out for ice cream it has left me with a vert upsetting anger.....I went to ivannacone about 2 months ago and then again this last Sunday August 27,2017. I've had the same issue 2X in a row and I am DONE with this business....we went in for father's day and then my sons bday on Sunday and had very PUSHY people behind the counter...instead of asking "how are you how can I help you" we got "what did you want...and when we asked for a sample the guy sighed and said yeah hold on....once we finally ordered we were hurried along without even enough time to ask WHY is a double scoop so small served on a broken waffle cone...Ive seen 1 scoop cones ay Baskin Robbins and other places much bigger than this...and it's 20.00 LITERALLY for 2 kids and 2 adults for small amounts of disappointing SERVICE and ice cream!!!! And to make things much worse...the last 2 times I was eating my cone I pulled out HAIR YES HAIR....SO DISGUSTING!!!! 1st time it was a light brown long hair....this time last Sunday it was a short black HAIR! After dining at Lazlo's Brewery, my friends and I decided to treat ourselves Ivanna Cone. It had been recommended by locals everywhere we went. This is my third time in Lincoln and I still haven't tried this place. We had worked a 12 hour day and had not eaten much, so even after a burger and fries at Lazlo's', we were still hungry for ice cream. If you go there, make sure to bring cash because they only accept cash or check. The line is usually pretty long, but because it's ice cream it moves pretty fast. Their flavors change daily. Every time you go there there will be a different selection, which is exciting. They are very extravagant flavors as well. Not your average vanilla and chocolate. I didn't see the option for softserve, but you can get sundaes and other delicious treats. They had peanut butter cake pops when I was there. No, sadly I did not try it. I got the "Vanilla Sweet Cream" & my friends got "Smurfday Cake" & "Irish Car Bomb." The ice cream is homemade, and delicious. Mine was a little boring, but I believe that is my fault because of the choice I made. Also, my friends thought theirs were delicious. Their waffle cones are homemade so it smells like waffle cones while you're waiting in line. I'm a little embarrassed to admit this part, but when we left we were taking photos outside and I threw my wallet in a separate area in my purse that I usually don't use. When I got back to my hotel which is just around the corner, I started panicking because I thought that I left my wallet there. I called them immediately and they were so nice about it. One of the girls working there started asking everybody if they had seen my wallet. Halfway there, I realized I put it in a different section of my purse. It was very nice of her to do that and she handled the situation very well. The customer service there was good. It's also in an excellent location in the middle of the downtown/Haymarket area. Not sure about parking, because I walked, but I did see a parking lot right behind it so I'm sure it's simple. Quite expensive, I believe it's $4 a scoop of ice cream. Some of the flavors are very, especially the weird ones with many ingredients. If you just want a basic flavor like strawberry I lacks the strawberry flavor and is more vanilla in my opinion. Some people complain of ice being in there ice cream but I have never experienced it and I would only assume that the ice could be in there because most of the specialty flavors are made there in store. Not much for seating during the afternoon but their is the painted alleys around the corner that you can walk and look at while you eat and are great for taking pictures. Unfortunately after many years of driving from Des Moines to Lincoln for ice cream, we probably will not return. We had stopped Friday night and had ice cream to verify that their hours on Saturday were opening at 10:00am. They confirmed that because of the Farmer's Market, they would be open at 10:00. I asked where to buy dry ice and was told so that we would have it in the morning. We arrived at 10:00 and the store was not open. I called at 10:15am but the voicemail was full. Finally around 10:30, 2 employees came and said they would not open until noon. I said to the guy that I had $25 of dry ice and was told they would be open. He laughed and said call the manager. We will go somewhere else where they provide ice cream and service. We needed to drive back to Des Moines and had already waited until 10:00 until they had said they would open. In a service industry, one of the 2 employees could have also sold the ice cream which would have been great service. Unfortunately, that was not the case. read more

I somehow let delicious Ivanna Cone slip through the cracks in Yelp Land. I LOVE THIS PLACE. This ice cream is unique, handmade, creamy, thick, innovative, pretty, and absolutely friggin' DELICIOUS. They really think outside of the box with a lot of their rotating flavors, but you can always count on their delicious dutch chocolate and vanilla if you feel like stickin' to the basics. The waffle cones are to die for, and you can smell them as soon as you walk into the building. I work in the Haymarket, and whenever I'm having a stressful day or need a sugar pick me up I get a waffle cone for lunch. It's perfect food therapy especially on a hot day. The atmosphere in here is youthful, fun, and funky. I love it. The walls are painted bright colors, and all of their signage appears to be hand done by creative staff members. Also, they play amazing music in here! Kudos to the staff for having such eclectic and awesome taste in music. Also, on the subject of staff, they are great! Always happy, smiling, and willing to dole out the samples of their delicious flavors, even when the line extends out the door. They do an excellent job. Things to know: In the evenings (especially in warm weather) they are BUSY. Expect to wait in line, but trust me! It's soooo worth it. They do not accept any plastic, so bring your check book or stop by the ATM(there's one in the same building). They also have a hard time breaking big bills, so try and come in with 1's and 5's if you can. LOVE THE CONE! Seriously this place is great, and worth driving (and parking) in the Haymarket for. This place has character and charm, Lincoln needs more places like this and less of the corporate eateries. Last time I got the Red Velvet Cake Ice Cream and the Porter Chocolate. Good eats right there. Chunks of homemade cake gave great texture, and the beer in the chocolate was just a perfect but of flavor at the end. Way too high a price to pay for overly loud music and the SNOTTIEST service I've ever received at an ice cream parlor! Do I really have to pay THAT much money only to be insulted because my tastes differ from the insolent 18 year old behind the counter?! This is the second time in as many months I've been here.
